메조 세공의 고체산 촉매를 이용한 2-나프톨의 에테르화 반응 (The Etherification of 2-Naphthol over Mesoporous Solid Acid Catalysts)

  • 여러 가지 고체산 촉매를 이용하여 2-naphthol과 에탄올의 에테르화 반응을 연구하였다. 본 연구에서 촉매는 CNS, CNSWS, SCMS, MCF, SBA-15와 이 촉매에 sulfonic acid를 붙인 $CNS-SO_3H$, $CNSWS-SO_3H$, $SCMS-SO_3H$, $MCF-SO_3H$, $SBA-15-SO_3H$를 사용하였다. 반응온도 $180^{\circ}C$, $LHSV=1h^{-1}$, 에탄올/2-naphthol의 몰 비 20인 조건으로 고정층 반응기에서 반응하여 각 촉매에서 2-naphthol의 전환율과 2-naphthyl ethyl ether의 선택도를 측정하였다. 2-naphthol의 전환율과 2-naphthyl ethyl ether의 선택도는 carbon 계열의 고체산 촉매에서 보다 silica 계열의 고체산 촉매에서 더 높게 나타났다. silica 계열의 고체산 촉매에서 2-naphthol의 전환율은 70~90%, 2-naphthyl ethyl ether의 선택도는 90% 이상으로 나타났다. 촉매의 특성을 관찰하기 위해 XRD, SEM, TEM, $NH_3-TPD$를 수행하였다.

Development of Carbon-Based Solid Acid Catalysts Using a Lipid-Extracted Alga, Dunaliella tertiolecta, for Esterification

  • Novel carbon-based solid acid catalysts were synthesized through a sustainable route from lipid-extracted microalgal residue of Dunaliella tertiolecta, for biodiesel production. Two carbon-based solid acid catalysts were prepared by surface modification of bio-char with sulfuric acid ($H_2SO_4$) and sulfuryl chloride ($SO_2Cl_2$), respectively. The treated catalysts were characterized and their catalytic activities were evaluated by esterification of oleic acid. The esterification catalytic activity of the $SO_2Cl_2$-treated bio-char was higher ($11.5mmol\;Prod.{\cdot}h^{-1}{\cdot}gCat.\;^{-1}$) than that of commercial catalyst silica-supported Nafion SAC-13 ($2.3mmol\;Prod.{\cdot}h^{-1}{\cdot}gCat.^{-1}$) and $H_2SO_4$-treated bio-char ($5.7mmol\;Prod.{\cdot}h^{-1}{\cdot}gCat.^{-1}$). Reusability of the catalysts was examined. The catalytic activity of the $SO_2Cl_2$-modified catalyst was sustained from the second run after the initial activity dropped after the first run and kept the same activity until the fifth run. It was higher than that of first-used Nafion. These experimental results demonstrate that catalysts from lipid-extracted algae have great potential for the economic and environment-friendly production of biodiesel.

Vapor-Phase Chlorination of Chlorobenzene over Solid-Acid Catalysts

  • Catalytic chlorination of chlorobenzene was studied in vapor phase using various solid-acid catalysts such as silica-alumina, alumina, zeolite and a modified clay prepared by impregnating bentonite with ferric chloride. The conversions of both chlorine gas and chlorobenzene showed high over silica-alumina, alumina and modified clay catalysts. However relatively large amounts of polychlorinated benzene derivatives were also observed. The active species of catalytic activity in chlorination of chlorobenzene in vapor phase were proved to be as Lewis acid sites by in-situ IR experiments. The strength of Lewis acid sites which were effective for the vapor-phase chlorination seemed to be having Hammett acidity Ho >-3.0. The selectivity to dichlorobenzenes was proved to be high over the zeolite catalyst due to their shape-selective properties. p-Dichlorobenzene or dichlorobenzene selectivities were improved more or less by changing the reaction conditions.

  • 최근에 개발된 세 종류의 고체산 촉매를 간단히 설평하였다. 클로버라이트는 매우 큰 세공이 있는 분자체이고, 티타늄실리케이트는 구조가 기존의 분자체와 다르며, Envirocat은 염화알루미늄 촉매를 대체하기 위해 개발된 촉매이다.

  • The conversion of dimethyl ether(DME) has been carried out over $\gamma-alumina$, silica-alumina, and modified $\gamma-aluminal$ catalysts. Especially, the water effect has been investigated on purpose to develop a suitable catalyst for one-step synthesis of DME from $CO_2$ hydrgenation, The $\gamma-Al_2O_3$ modified with 1 wt% silica is more active and less deactivated by water than unmodified one. $CO_2has$ no effect on catalytic dehydration of methanol to DME.

  • Oligomerization of isobutene has been investigated using a few solid acid catalysts in order to produce efficiently triisobutenes that are useful chemical feedstocks for heavy alkylates and neo-acids. Several reaction conditions such as space velocity and isobutene concentration are evaluated, and a few cation exchange resins with various acid capacities were compared in the reaction. High trimers selectivity and high conversion can be obtained over a catalyst containing high acid capacity at low space velocity and relatively low isobutene concentration. The stability of a catalyst for the reaction is high when the acid capacity of the catalyst is high (for example Amberlyst-35).

  • The efficiency of heterogeneous catalysts has been investigated in ozonation process for organic removal. Heterogeneous catalytic ozonation was conducted for the degradation of humic acid in the presence of Granular Activated Carbon or Zeolite as a solid catalyst. And the results were compared to those of ozonation alone and adsorption alone without ozonation. The degradation characteristics of humic acid in each process were examined with the values of pH, TOC, $UV_{254}$ and $COD_{Cr}$.

Trimerization of Isobutene over Solid Acid Catalysts: Comparison between Cation-exchange Resin and Zeolite Catalysts

  • Catalytic trimerization of isobutene to produce triisobutenes has been performed over cation-exchange resin and zeolite catalysts. Resin catalysts have the advantage of long lifetime and high trimers selectivity even though the regeneration of an aged catalyst is not satisfactory. On the contrary, zeolite catalysts can be regenerated facilely by simple calcination in air even though the lifetime is short and trimers selectivity is low probably due to small pore size and strong acidity, respectively. It is, therefore highly desirable to develop an inorganic acid catalyst with macro- or meso-pores to show catalytic performances similar or superior to those of macroporous resin catalysts.

  • 여러 가지의 고체산 촉매에 의한 1-펜텐의 골격이성화 반응에서 반응활성, 선택도, 반응메카니즘 및 촉매의 산의 세기와 촉매활성과의 관계를 연구하였다. 여러 가지의 고체산 촉매중에서 천연제올라이트가 가장 높은 활성을 보여주었고, 불소나 황산으로 처리된 ${\eta}$-알루미나는 변형되지 않은 경우에 비해 활성이 크게 증가하였다. 한편 반응온도가 증가할수록 이소펜텐의 수율이 증가하였고, 접촉시간의 증가에 따라 이소펜텐의 수율이 증가하였다. 그러나 높은 반응온도와 아주 긴 접촉시간에서는 크래킹 반응의 생성물이 증가하였다. 금속이온으로 치환된 천연제올라이트에서의 활성은 감소하였고, 이것은 금속이온의 polarizing power와 관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 암모니아 승온탈착실험 결과에 의하면 촉매의 활성은 촉매의 산의 세기와 밀접한 관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다.
