  • Four bacteria capable of using aniline as a sole source of carbon and energy we4e isolated from river waters. Among them, two strains were identified as Stenotrophomonas maltophilia based on their physiological and biochemical characteristics and 16SrRNA gene sequence and the others as delftia acidovorans. The four strains were able to grow on the mineral salt media containing aniline at concentrations up to 6,000 $\mu\textrm{g}$/ml. Since aniline degradation by S. maltophilia has not been reported so far, the two strains A-s and 51-4 were selected for further studies. They completely utilized aniline in a mineral salt medium containing 300 $\mu\textrm{g}$/ml of aniline as a sole carbon and energy source within 24 hours. Optimum pH and temperature for aniline degradation and cell growth of both strains were 7.0 and $35^{\circ}C$, respectively. In addition, they effectively degraded aniline is waste, underground and river waters containing 300 $\mu\textrm{g}$/ml of aniline. This is the first report of aniline degradation by S. maltophilia strains.

  • The surfaces of injection and pressure-molded sheets of poly(ethylene-covulylacetate)(EVA) foams used for shoe mid-sole were treated with low temperature plasma to improve adhesion with a water-based polyurethane adhesives. Several experimental variables were considered, such as radio frequency power, treating time, type of gas. gas flow, and distance between electrode and sample. The modificated surface by plasma treatment were characterized using contact angle meter, scanning electron microscopy(SEM), universal testing machine(UTM). Adhesion was tested by T-peel tests of treated EVA foams/polyurethane adhesive joints. The treatment in the low temperature plasma produced a noticeable decrease in contact angle. The peel strength of EVA foams treated with plasma was increased with plasma treating time, and gas flow.

  • We executed the wearing test in order to revise the basic Beosun pattern for five kinds of foot type. And we took sensory test to evaluated that revisions. The result were as follows: 1. The characteristics of slender foot is that the foot circumference III is short as compared with foot length. So Kou of basic Beosun is sharp-pointed Hoimok and beosunmok are broad. For slender foot we took down ou of Beosun and use foot cir-cumference III/2-1.5cm as Hoimok like the part shown in dotted line of Fin 6. 2. The characteristics of broad foot is that the foot circumference III is long as comparison with foot length. So Kou of ba-sic Beosun is stubby Hoimok and Beosunmok are narrow. For broad foot we took up Kou of Beosun put foot circum-ferenceI /2-1.5cm for the width of Apbol and circumfernce III 2/-1.5cm for Hoimok like the part shown in dotted line of Fig. 8. 3. because the arch of flat foot is flat the sole of basic Beosun is not suitable to the flat foot. It developes on wrinkles of Duichuk and sole. For flat foot we took down Hom of the basic Beousun like the part shown in dotted line of Fig. 10. 4 We evaluated the revisions of basic Beousun for foot types were useful in senso-ry test.

  • An experiment was conducted for 56 days using nine castrated male Black Bengal goats (initial live weight 9.0 kg) aged about 5 months to study the effects of feeding Sesbania leaves as a sole feed on growth performance and nutrient utilization. The animals were fed ad libitum on either road-side grass, Sesbania aculeata leaves or Sesbania rostrata leaves. Average dry matter (DM) intake was 179, 229 and 259 g/d for goats fed road-side grass, Sesbania aculeata and Sesbania rostrata, respectively. Corresponding mean values for average daily live weight change were -6.6, 9.5 and 38.1 g, respectively. These values were higher (p<0.05) for goats fed Sesbania leaves than those given road-side grass. The apparent digestibility of all the proximate components except CF and the concentrations of DCP, TDN, DOM and ME of Sesbania leaves were higher (p<0.05) than those of road-side grass. Sesbania rostrata was superior (p<0.05) to Sesbania aculeata for nutrient digestibilities (except for NFE) and also for DOM, DCP and ME concentrations. Therefore, it may be concluded that the production of Sesbania rostrata, a legume fodder, should be encouraged for feeding goats.

  • An efficient 3D finite element walking model that considers the detailed shapes of muscles, ligaments, bones, skin, and soles was developed based on a real computed tomography (CT) scan image of a foot, and nonlinear contact analyses were performed to investigate pressure changes. The highest pressure occurs at the rear bottom of the foot when standing and walking. The pressure on the outsole with a curved foot bottom surface is lessened and distributed over a wider area than in the case of a flat outsole. The result shows that a shoe sole shape optimized for diabetes patients can relieve the foot pressure concentration and prevent further worsening of symptoms.

  • Grid-connected converters have widely adopted LCL filters to acquire high harmonic suppression. However, the LCL filter increases the system order so that the design of the system stability would be complicated. Recently, sole-loop control strategies have been used for grid-connected converters with L or LC filters. But if the sole-loop control is directly transplanted to grid-connected converters with LCL filters, the systems may be unstable. This paper presents a novel dual-loop power control strategy composed of a power outer loop and a current inner loop. The outer loop regulates the grid-connected power. The inner loop improves the system stability margin and suppresses the resonant peak caused by the LCL filter. To obtain the control variables, a single-phase current detection is proposed based on PQ theory. The system transfer function is derived in detail and the influence of control gains on the system stability is analyzed with the root locus. Simulation and experimental results demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed control.

  • Previous studies have demonstrated that Shewanella decolorationis S12 can grow on the azo compound amaranth as the sole electron acceptor. Thus, to explore the mechanism of energy generation in this metabolism, membranous vesicles (MVs) were prepared and the mechanism of energy generation was investigated. The membrane, which was fragmentized during preparation, automatically formed vesicles ranging from 37.5-112.5 nm in diameter under electron micrograph observation. Energy was conserved when coupling the azoreduction by the MVs of an azo compound or Fe(III) as the sole electron acceptor with $H_2$, formate, or lactate as the electron donor. The amaranth reduction by the vesicles was found to be inhibited by specific respiratory inhibitors, including $Cu^{2+}$ ions, dicumarol, stigmatellin, and metyrapone, indicating that the azoreduction was indeed a respiration reaction. This finding was further confirmed by the fact that the ATP synthesis was repressed by the ATPase inhibitor N,N'-dicyclohexylcarbodiimide (DCCD). Therefore, this study offers solid evidence of a mechanism of microbial dissimilatory azoreduction on a subcell level.

  • Pulp and palm of the hand and heel of the sole are anatomically unique. Satisfactory reconstruction of these areas presents the plastic surgeon with many challenges and requires durable and sensible skin coverage, minimal donor morbidity and reliable operative procedure. We presents 7 clinical cases of sensate instep free flap transfer in this paper during the last 2 years. Three cases were soft tissue defects due to crushing and avulsion injury on the pulp of finger. 1 case was unstable scar and redundant flap after reconstruction of soft tissue dect of palm and 1 case was contracture of first web of hand. One case was a soft tissue defect due to avulsion injury on heel. Lastly, one case was chronic osteomyelitis with open wound on lateral malleolar area. Follow-up period ranged from 3 months to 2 years. Through the whole follow-up period, all flaps were viable and durable to persistant stress or weight bearing and were sensible enough to porotect the recocstructed area from injuries and maintain functions. In conclusions, the instep free flap should be considered as a valuable tool in reconstruction of hand and extremity requiring durability and sensation.
