태양광 시뮬레이터와 PCS를 이용한 배터리 방전시스템 구성 (Battery Discharge System Configuration using Photovoltaic Simulator and PCS)

  • Recently, In the production line of batteries, charge and discharge tests are essential to verify battery characteristics. In this case, the battery charging uses a unidirectional AC/DC converter capable of output voltage and current control, and the discharge uses a resistive load. Since this method consumes energy during discharge, it must be replaced with a bi-directional AC/DC converter system capable of charging and discharging. Although it is difficult to replace the connected inverter part of the bi-directional AC/DC converter system due to the high cost, the spread of the solar-connected inverter rapidly increases as the current solar supply business is activated, and thereby the solar-connected type Inverter prices are plunging. If it can be used as a power converter for battery discharge without program modification of the solar-powered inverter, it will have competition. In this paper, propose a new battery discharge system using a combination of a photovoltaic DC/DC simulator and photovoltaic PCS using a battery to be used as a power converter for battery discharge without program modification of a low-cost photovoltaic inverter. In addition, propose an optimal solar characteristic curve for the stable operation of PCS. The validity of the proposed system was verified using a 500[W] class solar DC/DC simulator and a solar PCS prototype.

Solar Energy Powered Bicycle for Wireless Supervisory Control and Remote Power Management Applications

  • In this paper, a solar energy powered bicycle linked to a wireless sensor network (WSN) which monitors the transfer of solar energy to an electrical energy storage unit and an analysis of its effectiveness is proposed. In order to achieve this goal, a solar-powered bicycle with an attached ZigBee and a far-end wireless network supervisory system is setup. Experimental results prove that our prototype, solar energy powered bicycle, can achieve enough solar energy for charging a two lead-acid battery pack. As a result, the user, through use of a wireless network in the parking period can be kept aware of the data on the amount of immediate solar radiation, the degree of illumination, the ambient temperature, and electrical energy storage capacity information of the bicycle through an internet interface.

  • 신재생 에너지를 활용이 높아지면서 에너지저장시스템의 활용과 효율성에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 특히 태양광 에너지저장시스템을 구성하는 서브시스템에서 이상 징후 발생에 능동적으로 대처할 수 있는 운영이 요구된다. 본 논문은 태양광 발전량 데이터를 표본으로 하여 예측 발전량을 추정하여 에너지 관리하는 방안을 제안한다. 실시간으로 예측된 배터리 충전 전력과 배터리 랙 총 충전 전력을 비교하여 충전 전력을 조절하는 모형을 적용한다. 그 결과로 배터리의 발열 억제 및 충방전율을 유지시켜 에너지저장시스템의 에너지 저장을 안정적으로 높일 수 있다.

빙축열조 성능향상에 관한 연구 (A Basic Study for Improvement of Performance of Ice Thermal Storage in Ice Storage Tank)

  • The study on ice thermal storage system is to improve total system performance and increase the economical efficiency in actual air-conditioning facilities. To obtain the high charging and discharging efficiencies in ice thermal storage system, the improvement of thermal stratification is essential, therefore the process flow must be piston flow in the cylindrical type. In the influence of the inlet port type, the inflowing water in the distributor type diffuses through the whole storage tank more than in the slot type. In case of the flow process in the ice storage tank, the upward flow type in the charging process and the downward flow type in the discharging process make the stratification well, thereby the loss of energy wored be smaller. The influence of the inlet temperature difference and the change of the inlet flow rate is intensive when the temperature difference is larger, the flow rate is smaller in case of charging and the results are opposite in case of discharging with the reason that the good coduction condition. The total effeciency of the ice thermal storge system is 73% on condition that the porosity in the thermal storage tank is 0.55. This result shows that cylinderical ice storage tank has better storage capacity than rectangular type in case of the same porosity.

전기자동차 운행을 위한 태양광발전소 수요 예측 (Prediction of Demand for Photovoltaic Power Plants for Electric Vehicle Operation)

  • Currently, various policies regarding ecofriendly vehicles are being proposed to reduce carbon emissions. In this study, the required areas for charging electric vehicle (EV) batteries using electricity produced by photovoltaic (PV) power plants were estimated. First, approximately 2.4 million battery EVs, which represented 10% of the total number of vehicles, consume approximately 404 GWh. Second, the power required for charging batteries is approximately 0.3 GW, and the site area of the PV power plant is 4.62 ㎢, which accounts for 0.005% of the national territory. Third, from the available sites of buildings based on the region, Jeju alone consumes approximately 0.2%, while the rest of the region requires approximately 0.1%. Fourth, Seoul, which has the smallest available area of mountains and farmlands, utilizes 0.34% of the site for PV power plants, while the other parts of the region use less than 0.1%. The results of this study confirmed that the area of the PV power plant site for producing battery-charging power generated through the supply of EVs is very small. Therefore, it is desirable to analyze and implement more specific plans, such as efficient land use, forest damage minimization, and safe maintenance, to expand renewable energy, including PV power.

위성 배터리 충전을 위한 전력제어유닛의 알고리즘 설계 (Design on Algorithm of Power Control Unit for Charging Satellite Battery)

  • 식 구간에서 인공위성이 필요로 하는 모든 전력을 공급하는 배터리의 수명은 인공위성의 수명과 직결된다. 배터리의 수명은 배터리 충전 방식에 의해 영향을 받으므로, 배터리 충전을 제어하는 전력제어유닛은 배터리 수명을 고려하여 설계되어야 한다. 배터리 충전은 낮 구간에서 태양전지로부터 생성된 전력을 전력제어유닛의 충전 전류 제어를 통해 이루어진다. 계절마다 다른 식 구간의 빈도를 고려하고 배터리 과충전 방지를 위하여 배터리 충전관련 변수들은 계절에 따라 각각 다르게 설계되어야 한다. 또한 충전 시 과전류 충전과 과전압 충전을 방지하기 위해 배터리 충/방전 상태, 충전전류 양, 배터리 전압, 배터리 용량, 배터리 온도, 배터리 셀 전압 등을 모니터링 하여 충전 전류를 제어한다. 인공위성에서는 각 조건을 반영하여 충전 전류를 제어하는 tapering 방식을 사용한다. 본 논문에서는 tapering 충전 방식을 적용한 인공위성 전력제어유닛의 배터리 충전 알고리즘을 설계한다. 설계된 알고리즘을 위성에 업로드 할 수 있는 코드로 변환하고 구축된 위성환경에서의 시험을 통해 동작을 검증한다.

소용량 EHD 발전에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Small Capacity EHD Power Generation)

  • This paper describes an experimental study that was performed to determine the limiting factors on the power output in the closed cycle Electro-Hydro-Dynamic generator of small capacity. A corona discharge for producing unipolar charged particles used as the charging method. The experiment demonstrated that the corona method of charging was an efficient and effective means of producing unipolar charged particles. Four factors having an effect on the power output characteristics of EHD generator are discussed and examined experimentally, using methyl alcohol and kerosene as working fluides; a. The conversion length between attractor and collector. b. The corona current of Emitter. c. The flow velocity of working fluids. d. Load resistance. This results are as follows; 1) There in a critical value in conversion length for its maximum power output. 2) Power output increases almost linearly with corona current and flow velocity. 3) There is the critical value of load resistance producing a maximum power output. 4) Kerosene is known better working fluid than Methyl alcohol in this EHD generator.

  • The developments of the solar and the wind power energy are neccessary since the future alternative energies that have no pollution and no limitation are restricted. Currently power generation system of existing problems, combined generation system of photovoltaic(400W) and wind power generation system(400W) was suggested. It combines wind power and solar energy to have the supporting effect from each other. However, weather condition, power compensation device that uses elastic energy of spiral spring to combined generation system was also added for the present study. In an experiment, when output of system gets lower than 12V(charging voltage), power was continuously supplied to load through the inverter by charging energy obtained from generating rotary energy of spiral spring operates in small scale generator.

  • A standalone LED lighting system in using solar energy has been used usually less than 70W of lighting power because of a troublesome installation and maintenance. In this system, as more and more LED lighting power increases, the capacity of photovoltaic panel does proportionally, and to improve the charging efficiency of solar energy, MPPT(Maximum Power Point Tracking) techniques is used frequently, but the solar tracker is not. In this paper, a solar tracker which traces the light of the sun in varying hour to hour is studied to apply to the standalone LED lighting system. This solar tracker consists of twin axis for tracing the azimuth and altitude respectively, and it has a robust structure with safe mode to stand a strong wind. As a result of analysis, generating efficiency of the traced type has improved on the fixed one 28.84% on average.
