This paper presents the new maximum power point tracking(MPPT) control of the photovoltaic(PV) module integrated converter(MIC) system considering the shadow influence. The output characteristics of the solar cell is a nonlinear and affected by a temperature, the solar radiation and influence of a shadow. Particularly, MIC system is very sensitive to the shadow influence because the capacity is very small. In order to increase an output and efficiency of the solar power generation, the maximum power point(MPP) obeying control are necessary. Conventional perturbation and observation(PO) and Incremental conductance(IC) are the method finding MPP by the continued self-excitation vibration. The MPPT control is unable to be performed by rapid output change affected by the shadow. To solve this problem, the new control algorithm of the multi-level in which the step value changes by output change is presented. In case there are the solar radiation, a temperature and shadow influence, the presented algorithm treats and compares the conventional control algorithm and output error. In addition, the validity of the algorithm is proved. through the output error response characteristics.
In this paper, Korea Institute of Energy Research, building integrated renewable energy monitoring system that utilizes solar power generation forecast data forecast model is proposed. Renewable energy integration of real-time monitoring system based on monitoring data were building a database and the database of the weather conditions and to study the correlation structure was tailoring. The weather forecast cloud cover data, generation data, and solar radiation data, a data mining and time series analysis using the method developed models to forecast solar power. The development of solar power in order to forecast model of weather forecast data it is important to secure. To this end, in three hours, including a three-day forecast today Meteorological data were used from the KMA(korea Meteorological Administration) site offers. In order to verify the accuracy of the predicted solar circle for each prediction and the actual environment can be applied to generation and were analyzed.
Although Sri Lanka's current carbon footprint is much less compared to other developing countries, the country's existing and planned economic developments have raised the demand for power, resulting an increased GHG (Greenhouse gas) emission. GHG in Sri Lanka is emitted mostly by the burning of fossil fuels for energy generation including transport. However, the most effective way of reducing GHG emissions from the energy sector is to use renewable energy sources. Solar is in the top list of renewable resources that has much potential to use to meet the demand for electricity generation in the country. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the current status of solar power generation and opportunities, barriers for implementing the programs of solar energy in Sri Lanka. Literature reviews mainly used as the primary tool for this study. Sri Lankan government had set the targets for adding 200 MW to the national grid by 2020, and to increase up to 1000 MW by 2025 of solar electricity. To achieve these targets the prevailing barriers have to be considered.
In our laboratory, the control aspects are investigated in the photovoltaic power generation systems (PV systems). The PV system is very good for earth environment, but if it connects to power network system, many problems are raised (protection, voltage, harmonics etc.). In this paper, we present the result of the basic studies for the building of the PV system that amplifies the electric energy obtained from the solar cell. We consider electronic circuits in order to protect the PV system from power surge induced by lightning and also design an electronic circuit in order to detect defaults in the power network system. We would like to integrate these circuits into the PV system by considering its control equipment build by 8-bit microcomputer using various control theory (fuzzy, neural network etc.).
This study aims to analyze characteristics of Cell surface temperature and generated power performance for improving PV(Photovoltaic) system condition according to the cell opening ratio of transparent crystal PV system at Spandrel of curtain-wall. For this purpose, alternatives were classified for eight different cases that opening ratio of transparent crystal PV system varied from 0% to 70%, which was used by simulation tool, EnergyPlus. As results, it turned out that increasing opening ratio of transparent crystal PV system led higher PV surface temperature, back-sheet type was thus the most advantageous for decreasing surface temperature, annual generating efficiency, and annual accumulated generating power. Consequently, blocking off air space from outside insolation can advantageously keep to be better condition for generated power performance.
Building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) system operates as a multi-functional building construction material. They not only produce electricity, but also are building integral components such as facade, roof, window and shading device. On the other hands lots of architectural considerations should be reflected such as Installation position, shading, temperature effect and so on. As PV modules function like building envelope in BIPV, combined thermal and PV performance should be simultaneously evaluated This study is on the combined thermal and PV performance evaluation of BIPV modules. The purpose of this study is to investigate a temperature effect of PV module depending on the ventilation type of PV module backside. Test cell experiment was performed to identify the thermal and power effect of PV modules. Measurement results on the correlation of temperature and power generation were obtained. Those results can be utilized for the development of optimal BIPV installation details in the very early design stage.
Recently, the Korean government announced a plan to activate renewable energies, with focus on clean energy sources such as solar and wind power as the core and the goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. Unlike other photovoltaic (PV) systems, offshore PV installations are advantageous for large-scale expansion because of the ease of securing sites; they also enable lowering the power generation costs based on construction of large-scale power facilities of megawatt class or higher owing to low noise and landscape damage. However, any power generation should proceed with consideration of the special environmental conditions of the ocean. Above all, when installing large-scale facilities, it is important to reduce fluctuations of the structure and secure stability to actively respond to waves. This study is concerned with the development of a floating body technology that actively responds to waves so as to enable commercialization of offshore solar power. A unit platform for research and development on offshore PV generation was installed in the Saemangeum sea, and the structural fluctuations and stability were analyzed to ensure conformity with the major performance indicators.

Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) and Home Centralized Photovoltaic (HCPV) systems can address various energy storage issues and enhance demand response programs. Renewable energy, such as solar energy and wind turbines, address the energy gap. However, no energy management system is currently available to regulate the uncertainty of renewable energy sources, electric vehicles, and appliance consumption within a smart microgrid. Therefore, this study investigated the impact of solar photovoltaic (PV) panels, electric vehicles, and Micro-Grid (MG) storage on maximum solar radiation hours. Several Deep Learning (DL) algorithms were applied to account for the uncertainty. Moreover, a Reinforcement Learning HCPV (RL-HCPV) algorithm was created for efficient real-time energy scheduling decisions. The proposed algorithm managed the energy demand between PV solar energy generation and vehicle energy storage. RL-HCPV was modeled according to several constraints to meet household electricity demands in sunny and cloudy weather. Simulations demonstrated how the proposed RL-HCPV system could efficiently handle the demand response and how V2H can help to smooth the appliance load profile and reduce power consumption costs with sustainable power generation. The results demonstrated the advantages of utilizing RL and V2H as potential storage technology for smart buildings.

This paper investigates the output powers of PV modules by predicting three unknown parameters: reverse saturation current, and series and shunt resistances. A theoretical model using the non-uniform physical parameters of solar cells, including the temperature coefficients, voltage, current, series and shunt resistances, is proposed to obtain the I-V characteristics of PV modules. The solar irradiation effect is included in the model to improve the accuracy of the output power. Analytical and Newton methods are implemented in MATLAB to calculate a module output. Experimental data of the non-uniform solar cells for both serial and parallel connections are used to extend the implementation of the model based on the I-V equation of the equivalent circuit of the cells and to extend the application of the model to m by n modules configuration. Moreover, the theoretical model incorporates, for the first time, the variations of series and shunt resistances, reverse saturation current and irradiation for easy implementation in real power generation. Finally, this model can be useful in predicting the degradation of a PV system because of evaluating the variations of series and shunt resistances, which are critical in the reliability analysis of PV power generation.
In this study, the effect of water level and temperature on the power generation was investigated in a water tank with an aquavoltaic PV module to perform feasibility research for the development of salt farm aquavoltaic system. The silicon solar cell attached to the bottom of each water tank is a 1-cell mini module, and the underwater effects of the crystal phase (19.0~19.9% of single- & 17.9~19.9% of poly-crystalline) of the PV module were investigated, and power generation characteristics for water level (0~10 cm) and temperature (10~40℃) were analyzed. The deterioration coefficients according to the water level and temperature of each single- and poly-crystalline module were investigated at very similar levels such as, -2.01 %/cm and -2.02 %/cm, -0.50 %/℃ and -0.48 %/℃, respectively. Therefore, in salt farm aquavoltaic system, water levels need to maintain as low as possible, and heat-induced degradation is similar to those shown in general land, and no factors have been found to be affected by the underwater environment depending on the determination.
