  • This study excludes how to define the concepts and categories of the Ah-ak(雅樂) and Sok-ak(俗樂). In the process from the early Joseon Dynasty to the late Joseon Dynasty, the aesthetic appreciation system of the Ah-Sok(雅俗) in traditional music, which is consistently projected on court music and folk music centered on Pungryubang, was revealed through specific historical records. Through this study, we were able to examine as follow : In the early Joseon Dynasty, the aesthetic of music related to the the Ah-Sok(雅俗) was mainly projected on the court's ritual music and Yeonhyangak-music for korean court banquet-, and in particular, the aesthetic thoughts of Geomungo[玄琴] was at the center. As we descend to the late Joseon Dynasty, the aesthetic of music related to the Ah-Sok(雅俗) has been expanded to the private sector, reflecting the aesthetic of Pungryubang music, and it can be seen that the aesthetic thought of Geomungo[玄琴] was at the center.

  • Hypothalamus is one of the most important center regulating voluntary and involuntary function of the body. We studied on the blood glucose and eosinophilic responses induced by electrical hypothalamic stimulation using stereotaxic apparatus. Blood glucose was measured according to Somogyi Nelson method and circulating eosinophil was counted with Hinkleman Stain. For the histological confirmation of electrode placement frozen sections were cut along electrode tract and stained with Hematoxylin-Eosin. The results obtained were as follows: 1. Anterior hypothalamic stimulation mostly leads to hypoglycemia but in some cases lead to hyperglycemia. 2. Hypothalamic stimulation leads to eosinopenia in majority cases. 3. There is no relationship between eosinopenia and hyperglycemia. 4. It appears that sympathetic and pararympathetic areas are not separate part but it coincides each other.

  • In order to find out the effects of GABA on the rabbit's intestinal motility, the following experiments were carried out using Magnus method and the results obtained were as follows: 1. GABA inhibited the intestinal motility of rabbits initially. 2. GABA potentiated the inhibitory action of adrenaline and nor-adrenaline. 3. GABA inhibited the accelerating activity of acetylcholine on the intestinal motility by its anti acetylcholine effect. 4. The inhibitory action of GABA was unaffected with atropinization, strychnin, picrotoxin treatment, but the accelerating activity of GABA observed in some cases was only in the picrotoxin treatment.

  • This paper is to make a comparative study between George Sand and Na Hye-sok through their lives and works. The research found that George Sand and Na Hye-sok had similar views about the institution and social system of their age. Both women were aware of importance and necessity of education and the arts but showed a clear distinction between their beliefs in education and the arts. George Sand found that education was an indispensable part of women's lives but found that educationforwomentotheageofSandwasuseless. For this reason she continued to assert a substantial reform concerning women's education. In addition, she argued that everyone should have been given the same opportunities regardless of gender or class. Na Hye-sok, meanwhile, looked at women's education in a more realistic perspective, that is to say to make money. The two women showed remarkable differences in the view of art. This is evident from the presence of a responsibility and a sense of purpose as an artist. George Sand was imbued with a sense of purpose and clarified her own belief at the beginning of her activities as a writer. She wanted to inform the suffering of the weak through her writing and to contribute to build a Utopia where everyone could be happy to live beyond the boundaries of gender. However, Na Hye-sok did not reveal her own clear sense of purpose to her art activities. Art is not just a job - it's a vocation. Na Hye-sok was enthusiastic but didn't have a sense of purpose. She should have had a vocation and a sense of purpose. Na Hye-sok was lacking of responsibilities and obligations as a pioneer of Western painting. If there were a distinct vocation and a sense of purpose to Na Hye-sok as an artist, she would have left a trail as valuable as that of George Sand.

  • In order to investigate the effect of autonomic nervous system on salivary gland, the authors have observed the effects of various drugs acting on the autonomic nervous system to the rat submaxillary gland by comparing the changes of gland weight, the amylase activity and various electrolyte contents with control group. The results are as follows; 1. The pilocarpine, physostigmine, norepinephrine, atropine and DMPP increased the rat submaxillary gland weight. 2. The amylase activities of rat submaxillary gland were increased by pilocarpine, physostigmine and norepinephrine, but decreased by atropine and DMPP. 3. Calcium contents of rat submaxillary gland were highly increased by pilocarpine and physostigmine, hut slightly increased by norepinephrine. 4. Magnesium contents of rat submarillary gland were increased by DMPP, but decreased by pilocarpine, physostigmine and norepinephrine. 5. Sodium contents of rat subnaxillary gland were increased by pilocarpine, physostigmine, norepinephrine and DMPP, but decreased by atropine. 6. Potassium contents of rat submaxillary gland were highly increased by atropine, and slightly increased by DMPP and norepinephrine, but decreased by pilocarpine and physostigmine.

  • Alloxan is a well known diabetogenic agent which destroys the beta-cell of the Langerhan's islet. The authors investigated the influence of the repeated infusion of glucose solution upon the toxicity of alloxan in the mice. The effects of glucose on the blood sugar content and the serum transaminase (S-GOT and S-GPT) activities in the rabbits treated with alloxan were also observed. The results were as follows: 1. The $LD_{50}$ of alloxan in mice showed a slight decrease by pretreatment with glucose for one or two weeks. 2. The elevated blood sugar level in rabbits induced by alloxan shelved a significant fall for the first 3 days by pretreatment with glucose. 3. The increased serum transaminase activities in rabbits induced by alloxan decreased for the first 3 days by pretreatment with glucose.

  • In order to study the electrocardiogram of small animals authors deviced a fixing apparatus in the ventral resting position of rabbit and an attaching electrodes. Normal electrocardiograms of 8 adult rabbits were studied with author's improved fixing apparatus and electrodes. Leads taken were the standard limb lead, augmented unipolar leads and the unipolar precordial leads. The total numbers of various leads were eleven altogether. Results obtained in this study may be summarized as follows: 1. The details of the methods used to record and measure the six standard frontal plane leads and the five precordial leads of the rabbit electrocardiogram in the ventral resting position were described. The fixing apparatus of rabbits in ventral position are shown in Figure 1 and the attaching electrodes are shown in Figure 2. 2. The electrocardiographic changes in ventral position were more stable than in dorsal position in each lead. 3. The analysis of the amplitude, duration and other values of various waves are shown in Table 1 and Figure 3. 4. The electrocardiogram of rabbits showed decreased heart rate in ventral position than dorsal one. 5. The mean electrical axis of QRS complex in ventral position were +44.12 degrees and in dorsal position were +25.5 degrees.
