To find the soil plug of steel piles shaped by jet grouting, 4 blocks of cement milk with cube of 1.2m were made. 4 open-ended steel piles on the blocks were rested. The inner end part of 2 the piles was not reinforced. Cement milk 65%(SIG-1) and 100%(RJP-1) were filled into the block and height of 4.2 times of inner the pile diameter respectively. And the other the piles were welded 2 steel ring. The filling of the cement milk was an equal method as before(SIG-2 and RJP-2). Also the strain gauges were installed and the static pile load tests were done at the piles all. As a result, list in great order for effect of soil plug was (1)SIG-1, (2)SIG-2, (3)RJP-1, (4)RJP-2. This is because of strength and filling height of cement milk. And the higher the strength is, the greater the confining coefficient is.
This study was undertaken to investigate behavior characteristics of soil-cement piles in composite foundations through computer analysis. The soil-cement piles with cushion subjected to the vertical central loading only were analyzed using the program - “ABAQUS”. The investigation was conducted for various conditions including soil property, pile dimension, replacement ratio, pile/soil modular ratio, and load intensity. The results of analysis provided not only the load transfer and settlement behaviors but also the effective pile length and load distribution between a pile and soil. It was concluded that in the design of composite foundations, the modular ratio and replacement ratio are two design parameters.
In recent years, the stability, safety and comfort of trains has received increased attention. The mechanical characteristics and differential settlement of the foundation are the main problems studied in high-speed railway research. The mechanical characteristics and differential settlement of the foundation are greatly affected by the ground treatment. Additionally, the effects of train load and earthquakes have a great impact. The dynamic action of the train will increase the vibration acceleration of the foundation and increase the cumulative deformation, and the earthquake action will affect the stability of the substructure. Earthquakes have an important practical significance for the dynamic analysis of the railway operation stage; therefore, considering the impact of earthquakes on the railway substructure stability has engineering significance. In this paper, finite element model of the CFG (Cement Fly-ash Gravel) pile + cement-soil compacted pile about composite foundation is established, and manual numerical incentive method is selected as the simulation principle. The mechanical characteristics and differential settlement of CFG pile + cement-soil compacted pile about composite foundation under train load are studied. The results show: under the train load, the neutral point of the side friction about CFG pile is located at nearly 7/8 of the pile length; the vertical dynamic stress-time history curves of the cement-soil compacted pile, CFG pile and soil between piles are all regular serrated shape, the vertical dynamic stress of CFG pile changes greatly, but the vertical dynamic stress of cement-soil compacted pile and soil between piles does not change much; the vertical displacement of CFG pile, cement-soil compacted pile and soil between piles change very little.
In this paper, due to the need for cutting cement-soil group pile composite foundation under the 7-story masonry structure of Zhenghe District and the shield tunnel of Zhengzhou Metro Line 5, a field test was conducted to directly cut cement-soil single pile composite foundation with diameter Ф=500 mm. Research results showed that the load transfer mechanism of composite foundation was not changed before and after shield tunnel cut the pile, and pile body and the soil between piles was still responsible for overburden load. The construction disturbance of shield cutting pile is a complicated mechanical process. The load carried by the original pile body was affected by the disturbance effect of pile cutting construction. Also, the fraction of the load carried by the original pile body was transferred to the soil between the piles and therefore, the bearing capacity of composite foundation was not decreased. Only the fractions of the load carried by pile and the soil between piles were distributed. On-site monitoring results showed that the settlement of pressure-bearing plates produced during shield cutting stage accounted for about 7% of total settlement. After the completion of pile cutting, the settlements of bearing plates generated by shield machine during residual pile composite foundation stage and shield machine tail were far away from residual pile composite foundation stage which accounted for about 15% and 74% of total settlement, respectively. In order to reduce the impact of shield cutting pile construction on the settlement of upper composite foundation, it was recommended to take measures such as optimization of shield construction parameters, radial grouting reinforcement and "clay shock" grouting within the disturbance range of shield cutting pile construction. Before pile cutting, the pile-soil stress ratio n of composite foundation was 2.437. After the shield cut pile is completed, the soil around the lining structure is gradually consolidated and reshaped, and residual pile composite foundation reaches a new state of force balance. This was because the condensation of grouting layer could increase the resistance of remaining pile end and friction resistance of the side of the pile.

In this study, a new soil retaining system was proposed by soil cement mixing method. The new soil retaining system is based on deep cement mixing method by large diameter reinforcing blocks (piles). Large diameter reinforcing blocks (usually $\varnothing$300-500 mm) have the advantage to make reinforcements over a relatively short depth and thus reduce the amount of reinforcement necessary. A field case has been reviewed for actual application of the soil retaining system at a downtown site. Research was conducted to evaluate the behavior of the installed soil retaining wall, with reinforcing blocks (400 mm in diameter and 4 m in length) placed into a 10 m excavation wall at a $20^{\circ}$ angle. As a result, the potential for applying this method to the downtown excavation site was confirmed.
One of problems being faced during construction of soil structures along the coastal regions is the stabilization of soft clay foundation, In this study, centrifugal model bests were conducted to investigate behavior effect of soft foundation reinforced by cement -soil piles for the stabilization of softs clay foundation during the embankment construction. This paper presents results of settlement and heaving behavior of reinforced and unreinforced foundation with time under the swaged loading for different best conditions. The test results have shown that the reductions of vertical settlement of the foundation and heaving of the ground surface adjacent to the embankment are greatly influenced by strength of improved pile, and moisture content, and especially the ratio of replacement area.

The accurate prediction of grouting upward diffusion height is crucial for estimating the bearing capacity of tip-grouted piles. Borehole construction during the installation of bored piles induces soil unloading, resulting in both radial stress loss in the surrounding soil and an impact on grouting fluid diffusion. In this study, a modified model is developed for predicting grout diffusion height. This model incorporates the classical rheological equation of power-law cement grout and the cavity reverse expansion model to account for different degrees of unloading. A series of single-pile tip grouting and static load tests are conducted with varying initial grouting pressures. The test results demonstrate a significant effect of vertical grout diffusion on improving pile lateral friction resistance and bearing capacity. Increasing the grouting pressure leads to an increase in the vertical height of the grout. A comparison between the predicted values using the proposed model and the actual measured results reveals a model error ranging from -12.3% to 8.0%. Parametric analysis shows that grout diffusion height increases with an increase in the degree of unloading, with a more pronounced effect observed at higher grouting pressures. Two case studies are presented to verify the applicability of the proposed model. Field measurements of grout diffusion height correspond to unloading ratios of 0.68 and 0.71, respectively, as predicted by the model. Neglecting the unloading effect would result in a conservative estimate.

This study evaluated the recycling potential of in-site waste soil as pile back filling material (PBFM). We performed experiments to check workability, segregation resistance, bond strength, direct shear stress test, and dynamic load test using in-site waste soil in coastal areas. We found that PBFM showed better performance than general cement paste in terms of workability, segregation resistance, and bond strength. On the other hand, the structural performance of PBFM was slightly lower than that of general cement paste due to the skin friction force of pile by Pile Driving Analyzer and direct shear stress. However, because this type of performance degradation in terms of structure can be improved through the use of piles with larger diameter or by changing the type of pile, considering the economics and environment, we considered that recycling of PBFM has sufficient value.
Skin friction may be one of the most critical factors in designing the prebored and precast pile. Special attention was given to the interface behavior of cement milk-surrounding soil during the installation of prebored and precast pile. Small-scale field model pile test was conducted for the case of single pile. The size and geometry of the small-scale field model piles were designed with pile length 1.3m, boring diameter 0.067 m. Quick maintain-load test was conducted for the cases of boring diameter 150, 125, 90, 86, 74 mm and water-cement ratio 90, 70, 60%. It was shown that the bearing capacity of the pile increased as the cement-water ratio and cement milk thickness increased. Considering the scale effect between the small-scale model test and the actual construction site, it was found that cement milk thickness of 0.1~0.4D (50~200 mm) was reasonable for the stability of the structure. Also, the proper cement paste water / cement ratio was about 70% when considering the results of this study and quality control.
This study undertook research on the sections of 90 harbor structures which applied a pile-type soil improvement using the soil-cement pile and then, determined the minimum replacement rate for each section, showing sufficient stability in all relevant studies including numerical analysis. The reliability of the numerical analysis was verified by a centrifuge model test. As a result of the study, it was revealed that when the foundation soil is too soft ($s_u$ = under 15 kPa), it is unsuitable to apply a pile-type ground improvement to a soil improvement regardless of types of super structures. And a pile-type soil improvement was found to be suitable for a harbor structure with the relative stiffness ratio (n) of less than 50~75 at a maximum and the 2~3 MPa strength of the soil-cement pile. Furthermore the governing factor for the minimum replacement rate for the pile-type soil improvement was turned out to be the allowable horizontal displacement. Therefore, the primary review to see the applicability of the pile-type soil improvement requires the evaluation of horizontal displacements.
