Traction performance of off-road vehicles is estimated using slip-traction relationships Two zero condition accepted by ASAE have been used widely to obtain the slip-traction relationships of off-road vehicles. This study was carried out using the soil bin systems to investigate the characteristic of slip-traction curves obtained using two zero conditions defined by ASAE. which are driving and driven zero condition, and to present disadvantage of slip-traction relationship based on two zero conditions of ASAE. The results of this study are summarized as follows : 1. For the driving zero condition, the curve of slip-traction relationship shows some issues. The first question is that the slip is zero when the traction is zero. The second question is that the value of slip is smaller than that of corresponding real slip, as the rolling radius decreased f3r the setting zero condition with driving wheel. 2. For the driven zero condition. slip occurs when the traction is zero, which is more realistic results than driving zero condition. But when a zero condition is set, skid occurs and this result increased the rolling radius of tire and increased slip value f3r the specific traction value of whole slip range. This kind of trend was getting bigger as the soil is softer, or the tire inflation pressure is higher. 3. From the results of this study, it was found that slip-traction relationship obtained by two zero conditions of ASAE is not realistic in estimating the traction performance of off-road vehicles. And also slip-traction relationship obtained for the same experimental condition showed different result in accordance with chosen zero condition,

Using a Quaternary sediment sampled from the Gwnahju-cheon various organic carbon analysis have been accomplished. The result helped us to figure out how climate environment has changed through at that time. The analysis outcome, except the analysis of upper section(range of 0 to 50 cm depth), showed that the climate was generally warm and humid at that time. However, even in this result, the climate environment was slight differences, it can be divided into four periods. Period I is from $3,880{\pm}30yr\;BP$ to $3,030{\pm}70yr\;BP$, in which the climate was relatively warm and humid/dry slightly. Period II is from $3,030{\pm}70yr\;BP$ to $2,970{\pm}70yr\;BP$, in which the climate was relatively warmer than period I and the most humid among all period. Period III is from $2,970{\pm}30yr\;BP$ to $2,270{\pm}70yr\;BP$ and refers to the warmest among all periods and also relatively drier/more humid than period I. Period IV which is from $2,270{\pm}70yr\;BP$ to $2,170{\pm}110yr\;BP$ represents the coolest and driest climate compare to other periods, although there is a high possibility of disturbance caused by cultivation activities.
Objective: Qianbei-Pockmarked goats are affected by a disorder locally referred to as 'Ruanguzheng Disorder', which is characterized by emaciation, lameness, muscular relaxation, stiffness of the extremities, and abnormal curvatures of the long bones. Our objective was to determine the relationship between the disorder and phosphorus deficiency. Methods: Tissue samples were collected from affected and healthy animals, while soil and herbage samples were collected from affected and healthy pastures. Biochemical parameters were determined using an automatic biochemical analyzer (OLYMPUS AU 640, Olympus Optical Co., Tokyo, Japan). Mineral contents in soil, forage, and tissue were determined using a Perkin-Elmer AAS5000 atomic absorption spectrophotometer (Perkin-Elmer, Norwalk, CT, USA). Results: The results showed that phosphorus contents in herbages from affected pastures were markedly lower than those from healthy areas (p<0.01), and the ratio of calcium to phosphorus in the affected herbages was 12.93:1. The phosphorus contents of wool, blood, tooth, and bone from affected animals were also markedly lower than those from healthy animals (p<0.01). Serum phosphorus values in affected animals were much lower than those in healthy animals, while serum alkaline phosphatase values from affected animals were markedly higher than those from healthy animals (p<0.01). Inorganic phosphorus values from affected animals were approximately half of that in the control group. Supplementation of disodium hydrogen phosphate prevented and cured the disorder. Conclusion: This study demonstrates that Ruanguzheng disorder in Qianbei-Pockmarked goats is primarily caused by phosphorus deficiencies in herbage due to fenced pastures and natural habitat fragmentation.

In this paper, the EPICS2017 photoatomic database was used to evaluate the photon mass attenuation coefficients and buildup factors of soils collected at different depths in the Philippine islands. The extraction and interpolation of the library was accomplished at the recommended linear-linear scales to obtain the incoherent and total cross section and mass attenuation coefficient. The buildup factors were evaluated using the G-P fitting method in ANSI/ANS-6.4.3. An agreement was achieved between XCOM, MCNP5, and EPICS2017 for the calculated mass attenuation coefficient values. The buildup factors were reported at several penetration depths within the standard energy grid. The highest values of both buildup factor classifications were found in the energy range between 100 and 400 keV where incoherent scattering interaction probabilities are predominant, and least at the region of predominant photoionization events. The buildup factors were examined as a function of different soil silica contents. The soil samples with larger silica concentrations were found to have higher buildup factor values and hence lower shielding characteristics, while conversely, those with the least silica contents have increased shielding characteristics brought by the increased proportions of the abundant heavier oxides.
This paper concerns the load carrying capacity of back-to-back reinforced soil wall for use in roadway and railway construction. Two test conditions, designed with due consideration of the FHW A design guideline, were first developed and a number of cases having different reinforcement lengths were tested under a surchage loading until failure. The results indicated that for cases in which two sides of reinforcements do not overlap, the wall behavior was similar to those of single wall. For cases in which the reinforcements overlap each other, on the other hand, the load carrying capacity of the wall significantly decreased when reinforced with reinforcement layers having lengths less than 50% of the wall height.
The use of reinforced earth walls id permanent structures is getting its popularity. Despite a number of advantages of reinforced earth walls over conventional concrete retaining walls, there exists concerns over long-term residual deformations when subjected to repeated and/or cyclic loads, during their service period. In this investigation, the effects of pre-loading in reducing long term residual deformation of reinforced soil structures under sustained and/or repeated loading environment are investigated using a series of reduced-scale model tests. A model pier and a back-to-back (BTB) reinforced soil structures were constructed and tested under various loading and backfilling conditions. The results indicate that the pre-loading technique can be an effective means of controlling residual deformations of reinforced soils under various loading conditions.

Two different experiments, adsorption/desorption and runoff by rainfall simulation of four pesticides, such as alachlor, ethalfluralin, ethoprophos and pendimethalin were undertaken their runoff and erosion losses from sloped land and to assess the influence of their properties and environmental factors on them. The mobility of four pesticides and which phase they were transported by were examined in adsorption study, and the influence of rainfall pattern and sloping degree on the pesticide losses were evaluated in simulated rainfall study. Freundlich adsorption parameters (K) by the adsorption and desorption methods were 1.2 and 2.2 for ethoprophos, 1.5 and 2.6 for alachlor, respectively. And adsorption distribution coefficients (Kd) by the adsorption and desorption methods were 56 and 94 for ethalfluralin, and 104 and 189 for pendimethalin, respectively. K or Kd values of pesticides by the desorption method which were desorbed from the soil after thoroughly mixing, were higher than these ones by the adsorption method which pesticides dissolved in water were adsorbed to the soil. Another parameter (1/n), representing the linearity of adsorption, in Freundlich equation for the pesticides tested ranged from 0.96 to 1.02 by the desorption method and from 0.87 to 1.02 by the adsorption method. Therefore, the desorption method was more independent from pesticide concentration in soil solution than the adsorption method. By Soil Survey and Land Research Center (SSLRC)'s classification for pesticide mobility, alachlor and ethoprophos were classified into moderately mobile $(75{\leq}Koc<500)$, and ethalfluralin and pendimethalin were included to non-mobile class (Koc > 4000). Runoff and erosion loss of pesticides by three rainfall scenarios were from 1.0 to 6.4% and from 0.3 to 1.2% for alachlor, from 1.0 to 2.5% and from 1.7 to 10.1% for ethalfluralin, from 1.3 to 2.9% and from 3.9 to 10.8% for pendimethalin, and from 0.6 to 2.7% and from 0.1 % 0.3% for ethoprophos, respectively. Distribution of pesticides in soil profile were investigated after the simulated rainfall study. Alachlor and ethoprophos were leached to from 10 to 15 cm of soil layer, but ethalfluralin and pendimethalin were mostly remained at the top 5 cm of soil profile. The losses of the pesticides at 30% of sloping degree were from 0.2 to 1.9 times higher than those at 10%. The difference of their runoff loss was related with their concentration in runoff water while the difference of their erosion loss must be closely related with the quantity of soil eroded.

In order to determine the effects of thinning on mushroom fruiting, microclimate and air temperature in Quercus mongolica forests, this study investigated changes in crown density, soil temperature, air temperature and throughfall in the natural Q. mongolica forest which was thinned by approximately 45% four years ago. The results showed that crown density was smaller than control by 6% from April to October, The soil temperature and air temperature in the thinned stands were significantly higher than those of the control by $1{\sim}2^{\circ}C$ until August and differences in air and soil temperature. The average daily temperature difference was higher than control by $0.2{\sim}0.7^{\circ}C$ until October. Throughfall from July to September in the thinned was approximately 135 mm higher than in the control. The maximum difference in throughfall per unit time was 3.5 mm/h. Soil moisture in the thinned site increased by approximately 5% compared with the control and reduced to the normal moisture after 4 days in both sites. 55 mushroom species were found in the thinned area between July and September. The thinned site contained 10 mycorrhizal mushrooms more than the control and 1 saprophytic mushroom species more than the control. Shannon-Wiener Index was 3.2, approximately 0.5 higher than the control. Tylopilus neofelleus, etc., occurred in the thinned site more quickly, but Aaricus subrutilescens, Clitocybe sp, occurred later. In the thinned site, the dominance of Tylopilus neofellelus and Armillaria sp. increased approximately 6% and 30% and yield about 1.5 times and 20 times, respectively. In conclusion, thinning in the Q. mongolica forest increased the soil and air temperature, soil moisture, throughfall and the diversity of mushroom species, and advanced the period of occurrence, and increased dominance and yield of some mycorrhizal mushrooms and Amillaria sp.
The effect of application of gypsum (G), popped rice hulls (PRH), and zeolite (Z) in exchangeable cations concentrations of reclaimed tideland soil in Kyehwado was investigated for 3 years from 2004 to 2006 in a pot experiment with bermuda grass (Cynodon dactylon). Treatments with three soil conditioner and with three applications were established with three replications; G1 (1,550 kg $10a^{-1}$), G2 (3,100), and G3 (6,200) for gypsum, H1 (1,000), H2 (2,000), and H3 (3,000) for PRH, and HZ1 (200), HZ2 (400), and HZ3 (800) for co-application of zeolite with PRH at the 1,500 kg $10a^{-1}$. At 60, 90, 120 days after treatment (DAT), exchangeable cations ($K^+$, $Na^+$, $Mg^{2+}$, and $Ca^{2+}$) were analyzed Gypsum application significantly decreased $k^+$, $Na^+$, $Mg^{2+}$ in the soil probably due to exchange and subsequent leaching of these cations by $Ca^{2+}$ from the gypsum applied. Overall, $K^+$ concentration was gradually decreased by continuous application of soil conditioners and was in the order of 2004>2005>2006 regardless of the kinds and application rate of soil conditioners. Comparing $K^+$ concentrations among the soil conditioners in the same year, its concentration was in the order of gypsum$Na^+$ concentration; i.e. $Na^+$ concentration was in the order of gypsum$\ll$PRH$Mg^{2+}$ also showed a similar pattern to $Na^+$. Gypsum application significantly increased $Ca^{2+}$ concentration and in the gypsum treated soil $Ca^{2+}$ concentration increased with years.
Effects of silver nanoparticles on the phytopathogenic fungal growth were investigated. Fungal phytopathogens, especially for sclerotium-forming species Rhizoctonia solani, Sclerotinia sclerotiorum and S. minor, were selected due to their important roles in survival and disease cycle. Tests for the fungal hyphal growth revealed that silver nanoparticles remarkably inhibit the hyphal growth in a dose-dependent manner. Different antimicrobial efficiency of the silver nanoparticle was observed among the fungi on their hyphal growth in the following order, R. solani > S. sclerotiorum > S. minor. Tests for the sclerotial germination growth revealed that the nanoparticles showed significant inhibition effectiveness. In particular, the sclerotial germination growth of S. sclerotiorum was most effectively inhibited at low concentrations of silver nanoparticles. A microscopic observation revealed that hyphae exposed to silver nanoparticles were severely damaged, resulting in the separation of layers of hyphal wall and collapse of hyphae. This study suggests the possibility to use silver nanoparticles as an alternative to pesticides for scleotium-forming phytopathogenic fungal controls.
