The Design and Implementation of a Reusable Viewer Component

  • This article outlines the capabilities of a viewer component called GridViewer, and proves its reusability. GridViewer was designed for the construction of the image display part of GIS or remote sensing application software, and consequently it is particularly straightforward to closely couple GridViewer with access to very large images. Displaying is performed through pyramid structure, which enables to treat very large dataset up to several gigabytes in size under the limited capability of PC. GridViewer is free from responsibility to handle various formats of raster data files by taking grid coverage, which is designed by OGC to promote interoperability between implementations done by data vendors and software vendors providing analysis and grid processing implementations. GridViewer differs from other such viewer by allowing for clients to extend its function and capability by using small set of methods originally implemented in it. We show its reusability and expandability by applying it in developing application programs performing various functions not supported originally by the GridViewer COM component.

EJB 2.0과 EJB 3.0의 소프트웨어 개발 생산성 비교 연구 (A Study on Comparison of Software Development Productivity with EJB 2.0 and EJB 3.0)

  • This paper proposes an object-oriented software development guidance and an evaluation index for the productivity related to EJB(Enterprise JavaBeans). EJB is a known successful standard model for LSDO(Large Size Distributed Object). However, there is no comparison research about the performance of EJB 2.0 and 3.0 with same identical platform. Quantitative analysis is supported as a part of LOC(Line Of Code) analysis. There is a limit to develop the updated software with no the specific evaluating index for the productivity of software. This work proposes an specific index for evaluating the productivity of new version EJB on a platform. Base on the result, the specific guidance of the developing software is obtained.

Buffer Scheme Optimization of Epidemic Routing in Delay Tolerant Networks

  • In delay tolerant networks (DTNs), delay is inevitable; thus, making better use of buffer space to maximize the packet delivery rate is more important than delay reduction. In DTNs, epidemic routing is a well-known routing protocol. However, epidemic routing is very sensitive to buffer size. Once the buffer size in nodes is insufficient, the performance of epidemic routing will be drastically reduced. In this paper, we propose a buffer scheme to optimize the performance of epidemic routing on the basis of the Lagrangian and dual problem models. By using the proposed optimal buffer scheme, the packet delivery rate in epidemic routing is considerably improved. Our simulation results show that epidemic routing with the proposed optimal buffer scheme outperforms the original epidemic routing in terms of packet delivery rate and average end-to-end delay. It is worth noting that the improved epidemic routing needs much less buffer size compared to that of the original epidemic routing for ensuring the same packet delivery rate. In particular, even though the buffer size is very small (e.g., 50), the packet delivery rate in epidemic routing with the proposed optimal buffer scheme is still 95.8%, which can satisfy general communication demand.

A Video Cache Replacement Scheme based on Local Video Popularity and Video Size for MEC Servers

  • With the mobile traffic in the network increases exponentially, multi-access edge computing (MEC) develops rapidly. MEC servers are deployed geo-distribution, which serve many mobile terminals locally to improve users' QoE (Quality of Experience). When the cache space of a MEC server is full, how to replace the cached videos is an important problem. The problem is also called the cache replacement problem, which becomes more complex due to the dynamic video popularity and the varied video sizes. Therefore, we proposed a new cache replacement scheme based on local video popularity and video size to solve the cache replacement problem of MEC servers. First, we built a local video popularity model, which is composed of a popularity rise model and a popularity attenuation model. Furthermore, the popularity attenuation model incorporates a frequency-dependent attenuation model and a frequency-independent attenuation model. Second, we formulated a utility based on local video popularity and video size. Moreover, the weights of local video popularity and video size were quantitatively analyzed by using the information entropy. Finally, we conducted extensive simulation experiments based on the proposed scheme and some compared schemes. The simulation results showed that our proposed scheme performs better than the compared schemes in terms of hit rate, average delay, and server load under different network configurations.

  • 본 연구에서는 소프트웨어 위기의 주요 원인인 유지보수 문제를 해결하기 위한 방안을 제시하기 위한 것으로, 국내의 유지보수 문제점과 현황을 설문으로 기초 조 사·분석하고 면담과 문헌을 참고하여 문제점을 해결하고자 하였다. 연구의 결과로 유지보수 생명주기를 정의하고 유지 보수를 효율적으로 수행하기 위한 기본 전략을 수립하고, 수립된 기본 전략을 구현하기 위한 유지보수 지원 시스템을 개략 설계하여 유지보수 시스템의 자동화 설계를 위한 기반을 구축하였다.

생산성 기반의 소프트웨어 유지보수 대가산정 모델 (A Model for Software Maintenance Cost Estimation based on Productivity)

  • Since the cost of software maintenance occupies about 50~75% in a general successful organization, the software maintenance plays an important role in software life cycle. In particular, if the managed system needs to be operated in a long term or the system is very large and complex, then the maintenance is especially more important. Software maintenance is defined as software modification activities after customer delivery, such as improvement of performance or functionality, error correction, adaptation to environmental changes, etc. In this paper, software cost estimation models are proposed, that is based on productivity of manpower in maintenance projects. In order to do this, the activities of maintenance are classified into function change, non-function change, user support and application operation. The proposed models are constructed and verified based on the real size and cost information of projects in the real world. The approach in this paper is to discriminate the heterogeneous activities in maintenance projects, and then to calculate the respective cost of each discriminated activity. By using the proposed models, the total cost of maintenance project is summed from the costs of four activities. In addition the number of conflicts between owner and order receiver about the amount of cost will be reduced and the reasonable cost estimation system will be established.

A Stochastic Differential Equation Model for Software Reliability Assessment and Its Goodness-of-Fit

  • Many software reliability growth models (SRGM's) based on a nonhomogeneous Poisson process (NHPP) have been proposed by many researchers. Most of the SRGM's which have been proposed up to the present treat the event of software fault-detection in the testing and operational phases as a counting process. However, if the size of the software system is large, the number of software faults detected during the testing phase becomes large, and the change of the number of faults which are detected and removed through debugging activities becomes sufficiently small compared with the initial fault content at the beginning of the testing phase. Therefore, in such a situation, we can model the software fault-detection process as a stochastic process with a continuous state space. In this paper, we propose a new software reliability growth model describing the fault-detection process by applying a mathematical technique of stochastic differential equations of an Ito type. We also compare our model with the existing SRGM's in terms of goodness-of-fit for actual data sets.

제한된 프로젝트 기간을 고려한 품질 기반 소프트웨어 프로젝트 계획 생성 기법 (Quality-Based Software Project Staffing and Scheduling with Project Deadline)

  • 소프트웨어 프로젝트 계획은 각 작업의 공수를 예측하고, 적절한 인력을 할당한 뒤 일정을 산출하는 과정을 포함한다. 프로젝트의 규모가 커질수록 가능한 개발 계획의 경우의 수가 많아지기 때문에 관리자가 합리적인 결정을 내리기 어렵다. 이를 지원하기 위해 프로젝트 계획 생성 기법들이 제안되어왔다. 제안된 대부분의 기법들은 전체 프로젝트 일정의 최소화를 계획 생성의 가장 중요한 목표로 사용한다. 하지만 일정 최소화를 달성하는 계획은 개발되는 소프트웨어의 품질을 고려하지 못하기 때문에 이러한 부분을 함께 반영한 프로젝트 계획 생성이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 합리적인 프로젝트 계획을 생성하기 위하여 소프트웨어 프로젝트 계획에 따른 소프트웨어 품질 점수를 정의하고 동시에 전체 일정 목표를 고려할 수 있는 프로젝트 계획 생성 기법을 제안한다. 관리자는 본 기법을 사용하여 전체 소프트웨어 개발 프로젝트에 요구되는 기한 안에 해당 소프트웨어의 품질을 최대하는 계획을 생성할 수 있다.

개발과 유지보수 프로젝트의 이상적인 팀 규모 (An Ideal Team Size in Development and Maintenance Project)

  • 팀의 규모에 관한 연구 결과 전문가들은 일반적으로 업무를 수행하는데 규모가 작은 팀이 큰 팀 보다 좋다는데 동의하고 있다. 또한, 항상 최소한의 실질적인 팀 규모를 구성하는데 목표로 하고 있다. 그러나 "작은"이 얼마를 의미하는지가 문제가 된다. 본 논문에서는 프로젝트 인도율과 인도속도와 같은 생산성 측도를 도입하여 이상적인 팀 규모를 결정하였다 300개 프로젝트를 대상으로 데이터 집합을 2개의 서브 그룹인 개발 프로젝트와 유지보수 프로젝트로 분류하였다. 실험결과 가장 성공적인 프로젝트는 최대 5명으로 수행하는 경우였으나, 본 논문은 실제 개발 된 프로젝트들을 대상으로 생산성-기반 이론을 접목시켜 이상적인 팀 규모를 판단하는 지침을 제공한다. 지침을 제공한다.

딥러닝 기반의 객체 검출을 이용한 상대적 거리 예측 및 접촉 감지 (Contact Detection based on Relative Distance Prediction using Deep Learning-based Object Detection)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 딥러닝 알고리즘을 이용하여 영상 내 객체의 종류, 위치, 절대 크기를 추출하고, 객체간 상대적 거리를 예측하며, 이를 이용하여 객체 간의 접촉을 감지하기 위한 내용이다. 객체의 크기 비율을 분석하기 위하여, CNN 기반의 Object Detection 알고리즘인 YOLO를 이용한다. YOLO 알고리즘을 통하여 2D 형태의 이미지에서 각 개체의 절대적인 크기와 위치를 좌표의 형태로 추출한다. 추출 결과는 사전에 저장된 동일한 객체의 명칭과 크기를 가지는 표준 객체-크기 리스트로부터 영상 내 크기와 실제 크기 간의 비례를 추출하며, 영상 내 카메라-객체 간의 상대적인 거리를 예측한다. 예측된 값을 바탕으로 영상에서 객체 간 접촉 여부를 감지한다.
