As software based digital I&C (Instrumentation and Control) systems are used more prevalently in nuclear plants, enhancement of software dependability has become an important issue in the area of nuclear I&C systems. Critical attributes of software dependability are safety and reliability. These attributes are tightly related to software failures caused by faults. Software testing and V&V (Verification and Validation) activities are hence important for enhancing software dependability. If the risky modules of safety-critical software can be predicted, it will be possible to focus on testing and V&V activities more efficiently and effectively. It should also make it possible to better allocate resources for regulation activities. We propose a prediction technique to estimate risky software modules by adopting machine learning models based on software complexity metrics. An empirical study with various machine learning algorithms was executed for comparing the prediction performance. Experimental results show SVMs (Support Vector Machines) perform as well or better than the other methods.
In this study, in the process of testing before the release of the software products designed, software testing manager in advance should be aware of the testing-information. Therefore, the effective learning effects perspective has been studied using the NHPP software. The finite failure nonhomogeneous Poisson process models presented and applied property of learning effect based on truncated time and delayed S-shaped software reliability. Software error detection techniques known in advance, but influencing factors for considering the errors found automatically and learning factors, by prior experience, to find precisely the error factor setting up the testing manager are presented comparing the problem. As a result, the learning factor is greater than autonomous errors-detected factor that is generally efficient model can be confirmed. This paper, a failure data analysis was performed, using time between failures, according to the small sample and large sample sizes. The parameter estimation was carried out using maximum likelihood estimation method. Model selection was performed using the mean square error and coefficient of determination, after the data efficiency from the data through trend analysis was performed.

With the exponential growth of satellite data utilization, machine learning has become pivotal in enhancing innovation and cybersecurity in satellite systems. This paper investigates the role of machine learning techniques in identifying and mitigating vulnerabilities and code smells within satellite software. We explore satellite system architecture and survey applications like vulnerability analysis, source code refactoring, and security flaw detection, emphasizing feature extraction methodologies such as Abstract Syntax Trees (AST) and Control Flow Graphs (CFG). We present practical examples of feature extraction and training models using machine learning techniques like Random Forests, Support Vector Machines, and Gradient Boosting. Additionally, we review open-access satellite datasets and address prevalent code smells through systematic refactoring solutions. By integrating continuous code review and refactoring into satellite software development, this research aims to improve maintainability, scalability, and cybersecurity, providing novel insights for the advancement of satellite software development and security. The value of this paper lies in its focus on addressing the identification of vulnerabilities and resolution of code smells in satellite software. In terms of the authors' contributions, we detail methods for applying machine learning to identify potential vulnerabilities and code smells in satellite software. Furthermore, the study presents techniques for feature extraction and model training, utilizing Abstract Syntax Trees (AST) and Control Flow Graphs (CFG) to extract relevant features for machine learning training. Regarding the results, we discuss the analysis of vulnerabilities, the identification of code smells, maintenance, and security enhancement through practical examples. This underscores the significant improvement in the maintainability and scalability of satellite software through continuous code review and refactoring.
An understanding of quality attributes is relevant for the software organization to deliver high software reliability. An empirical assessment of metrics to predict the quality attributes is essential in order to gain insight about the quality of software in the early phases of software development and to ensure corrective actions. In this paper, we predict a model to estimate fault proneness using Object Oriented CK metrics and QMOOD metrics. We apply one statistical method and six machine learning methods to predict the models. The proposed models are validated using dataset collected from Open Source software. The results are analyzed using Area Under the Curve (AUC) obtained from Receiver Operating Characteristics (ROC) analysis. The results show that the model predicted using the random forest and bagging methods outperformed all the other models. Hence, based on these results it is reasonable to claim that quality models have a significant relevance with Object Oriented metrics and that machine learning methods have a comparable performance with statistical methods.
The accurate estimation of software reliability is important to a successful development in software engineering. Until recent days, the models using regression analysis based on statistical algorithm and machine learning method have been used. However, this paper estimates the software reliability using support vector regression, a sort of machine learning technique. Also, it finds the best set of optimized parameters applying immune algorithm, changing the number of generations, memory cells, and allele. The proposed IA-SVR model outperforms some recent results reported in the literature.
The automotive industry is developing day by day. Among them, it is very important to prevent accidents while driving. However, despite the importance of developing automobile industry technology, accidents due to road defects increase every year, especially in the rainy season. To this end, we proposed a road defect detection system for road management by converging deep learning and raspberry pi, which show various possibilities. In this paper, we developed a system that visually displays through a map after analyzing the images captured by the Raspberry Pi and the route GPS. The deep learning model trained for this system achieved 96% accuracy. Through this system, it is expected to manage road defects efficiently at a low cost.

To fulfill user expectations, the rapid evolution of software techniques and approaches has necessitated reliable and flawless software operations. Aging prediction in the software under operation is becoming a basic and unavoidable requirement for ensuring the systems' availability, reliability, and operations. In this paper, an improved evolutionary computing-driven extreme learning scheme (ECD-ELM) has been suggested for object-oriented software aging prediction. To perform aging prediction, we employed a variety of metrics, including program size, McCube complexity metrics, Halstead metrics, runtime failure event metrics, and some unique aging-related metrics (ARM). In our suggested paradigm, extracting OOP software metrics is done after pre-processing, which includes outlier detection and normalization. This technique improved our proposed system's ability to deal with instances with unbalanced biases and metrics. Further, different dimensional reduction and feature selection algorithms such as principal component analysis (PCA), linear discriminant analysis (LDA), and T-Test analysis have been applied. We have suggested a single hidden layer multi-feed forward neural network (SL-MFNN) based ELM, where an adaptive genetic algorithm (AGA) has been applied to estimate the weight and bias parameters for ELM learning. Unlike the traditional neural networks model, the implementation of GA-based ELM with LDA feature selection has outperformed other aging prediction approaches in terms of prediction accuracy, precision, recall, and F-measure. The results affirm that the implementation of outlier detection, normalization of imbalanced metrics, LDA-based feature selection, and GA-based ELM can be the reliable solution for object-oriented software aging prediction.
The development of information technology is bringing many changes to everyday life, and machine learning can be used as a technique to solve a wide range of real-world problems. Analysis and utilization of data are essential processes in applying machine learning to real-world problems. As a method of processing data in machine learning, we propose an approach based on applying multiple linear regression models by interlacing data to the task of classifying similar software. Linear regression is widely used in estimation problems to model the relationship between input and output data. In our approach, multiple linear regression models are generated by training on interlaced feature data. A combination of these multiple models is then used as the prediction model for classifying similar software. Experiments are performed to evaluate the proposed approach as compared to conventional linear regression, and the experimental results show that the proposed method classifies similar software more accurately than the conventional model. We anticipate the proposed approach to be applied to various kinds of classification problems to improve the accuracy of conventional linear regression.
With the broad adoption of the Internet of Things (IoT) in a variety of scenarios and application services, management and orchestration entities require upgrading the traditional architecture and develop intelligent models with ultra-reliable methods. In a heterogeneous network environment, mission-critical IoT applications are significant to consider. With erroneous priorities and high failure rates, catastrophic losses in terms of human lives, great business assets, and privacy leakage will occur in emergent scenarios. In this paper, an efficient resource slicing scheme for optimizing federated learning in software-defined IoT (SDIoT) is proposed. The decentralized support vector regression (SVR) based controllers predict the IoT slices via packet inspection data during peak hour central congestion to achieve a time-sensitive condition. In off-peak hour intervals, a centralized deep neural networks (DNN) model is used within computation-intensive aspects on fine-grained slicing and remodified decentralized controller outputs. With known slice and prioritization, federated learning communications iteratively process through the adjusted resources by virtual network functions forwarding graph (VNFFG) descriptor set up in software-defined networking (SDN) and network functions virtualization (NFV) enabled architecture. To demonstrate the theoretical approach, Mininet emulator was conducted to evaluate between reference and proposed schemes by capturing the key Quality of Service (QoS) performance metrics.
