  • Recently automotive software has been more complex and needs to be reduced its development time. Software testing of its functionalities and performance should be conducted in an early development phase to reduce time to market and the development cost. Software functional testing can be performed through simulating the hardware, but it is not guaranteed that evaluation of real-time performance using simulation has enough accuracy. Real-time performance can be precisely evaluated with hardware-in-the-loop simulation, but it costs time and effort to set up hardware for testing. In this paper, we suggest a testing system that can evaluate functional requirements and real time properties with a general-purpose development board in the early development phase. In addition, we improve reusability of the testing system through modularized and layered architecture. With the proposed testing system we can contribute to building reliable testing system at low cost without difficulty.

  • This paper proposed software equation that is relation with effort and duration based on function point (FP) software size. Existent software equation based on lines of code (LOC). LOC sees big difference according to development language and there are a lot of difficulties in software size estimation. First, considered method that change LOC to FP. But, this method is not decided definitely conversion ratio between LOC and FP by development language. Also, failed though the conversion ratio motives software formula because was not presented about specification development language. Therefore, we derived software formula directly to large project data that was developed by FP. Firstly, datas that reasonable development period is set among development projects. Secondly, FP through regression analysis about this data and effort, motived relation with FP and duration. Finally, software equation was derived from these relation. Proposed model solves application problems that LOC-based model has and has advantage that application is possible easily in business.

  • This paper surveyed the development and future of electronic journals. The growing and impact of electronic publishing, developments and access of electronic journals, and the future of electronic journals were examined in detail, and remaining problems were analyzed. The findings of the study can be summarized as follows : 1. The future of electronic journals is not an issue of technology it is an issue of economics and social policy. And, the cost of delivering an electronic version to end-users were more expensive. 2. More sophisticated markup software and display software system are needed for fully structured text versions of articles. 3. Coordination of effort is essential in order that we maximize the end-users access requirements against resonable protection for the intellecture effort of the scholarly writer. 4. The success of an electronic journals will depend on the improved communication and cooperation between libraries, users, author, publishers, and information technology specialists. The advent of electronic information delivery has brought with it these issues to be solved. And development in the delivery of scholarly information by electronic means will accelerate.

  • Software cost and schedule estimation is usually based on the estimated size of the software. Advanced estimation techniques also make use of the diverse factors viz, nature of the project, staff skills available, time constraints, performance constraints, technology required and so on. Usually, estimation is based on an estimation model prepared with the help of experienced project managers. Estimation of software cost is predominantly a crucial activity as it incurs huge economic and strategic investment. However accurate estimation still remains a challenge as the algorithmic models used for Software Project planning and Estimation doesn't address the true dynamic nature of Software Development. This paper presents an efficient approach using the contemporary Constructive Cost Model (COCOMO) augmented with the desirable feature of fuzzy logic to address the uncertainty and flexibility associated with the cost drivers (Effort Multiplier Factor). The approach has been validated and interpreted by project experts and shows convincing results as compared to simple algorithmic models.

  • A number of attempts to develop methods for measuring software effort have been focused on the area of software engineering and many models have also been suggested to estimate the effort of software projects. Almost all current models use algorithmic or statistical mechanisms, but the existing algorithmic effort estimation models have failed to produce accurate estimates. Furthermore, they are unable to reflect the rapidly changing technical environment of software development such as module reuse, 4GL, CASE tool, etc. In addition, these models do not consider the paradigm shift of software engineering and information systems(i.e., Object Oriented system, Client-Server architecture, Internet/Intranet based system etc.). Thus, a new approach to software effort estimation is needed. After reviewing and analyzing the problems of the current estimation models, we have developed a model and a system architecture that will improve estimation performance. In this paper, we have adopted a neural network model to overcome some drawbacks and to increase estimation performance. We will also address the efficient system architecture and estimation procedure by a similar case-based approach and finally suggest the heuristic search method to find the best estimate of target project through empirical experiments. According to our experiment with the optimally parsimonious neural network model the mean error rate was significantly reduced to 14.3%.

  • Assembling new software systems from Prepared components is an attractive alternative to traditional software development method to reduce development cost and schedule dramatically. However, if separately developed components are tested, integrated and verified with unreasonable effort and high cost, it would not be an effective way to software development. Components are not distributed in the shape of white-box source code so that should be hard to validate and test in new application environment. For solving this problem, built-in tester components are suggested to check the contract-compliance of their server components. If components have various and complex function, built-in tester should be heavy and unflexible to test in composition of components. This paper suggests enhancing automated wrapper technique which substitutes with built-in tester components and shows the usability of the wrapper by design and implementation. Component testing in this way reduces the cost and effort associated with preparation of component testing and makes the various test experiments in components assembly.

  • In order to succeed in a bid or development, the project manager should estimate its cost and schedule more accurately in the early stage of the project. Usually, the nominal schedule of most projects can be derived from rule of thumb, first-order estimation practice, or ball-park schedule estimation table. But the rule-of-thumb models for the nominal schedule estimation are so various, and the first-order estimation practice does not provide sufficient information. So they do not help much to decide on the proper development effort and schedule for a particular size of project. This paper presents a statistical regression model for deciding the development effort and schedule of a project using the ball-park schedule estimation table. First, we have redefined such words suggested in the ballpark schedule estimation table as shortest possible schedule, efficient schedule and nominal schedule, Next, we have investigated the relationship between the development effort and the schedule. Finally, we have suggested a model for estimating the development effort and the more accurate schedule of such particular sizes of software as are not presented in the ball-park schedule estimation table. The experimental results show that our proposed regression analysis model decreases the mean magnitude of relative error by 2% at maximum. Also this model can estimated the development effort and schedule for a particular size of software.

  • On the aspect of on-time and development resource use, it is very important to predict the software release time during the software development process. In this paper, we present the optimal release problem based on the evaluation indicator and cost evaluation. And also we show the optimal release point considered with both of them. We applied the Exponential Software Reliability Growth Model(E-SRGM) and Testing-effort dependent Software Reliability Growth Model(Te-SRGM) and decided the software release time according to software reliability indicator. As a result of two models comparison, we verify the Te-SRGM is more adopted in our switching system software.
