  • Recently, component-based development (CBD) is rapidly spreading as a way of improving the reusability, productivity, and quality of software. For CBD to be effective in achieving such design objectives, the creation and integration of components must be based on a well-defined architecture that guides the correct composition and cooperation of application components. Software architecture must be described using an architecture description language (ADL) to ensure the correctness and preciseness of architecture models. In this paper, we propose the system architecture of an ADL tool set that can effectively support the use of CBD based on the domain architecture and we describe each component of the proposed system architecture. We also modify and redefine C2SADL that was developed to support the use of the description of C2 architectural style by UCI (University of California in Irvine) to facilitate the integration of separately described architecture models, and introduce the method of design and implementation of our ADL processor that partially implements the proposed ADL system architecture.

  • The discipline of software performance is very broad; it influences all aspects of the software development lifecycle, including architecture, design, deployment, integration, management, evolution and servicing. Thus, the complexity of software is an important aspect of development and maintenance activities. Much research has been dedicated to defining different software measures that capture what software complexity is. In most cases, the description of complexity is given to humans in forms of numbers. These quantitative measures reflect human-seen complexity with different levels of success. Software complexity growth has been recognized to be beyond human control. In this paper, we have focused our discussion on the increasing software complexity and the issue with the problems being faced in managing this complexity. This increasing complexity in turn affects the software productivity, which is declining with increase in its complexity.

  • Layered Architecture is a kind of nodule decomposition techniques, which decomposes a program by generality This paper proposes a ]aver based method for recovering layered architecture from object-oriented program and checking conformance against architectural document. To specify the rules for layered style in object-oriented program, we define a partially ordered set on modules by module use relationship and module layer relationship by module override relationship. The meaning of module layer relationship is explained with an example from design patterns. Steps to recover layered architecture from program are described and a metamodel for the recovery is proposed. Architecture recovery is performed on source codes from open-source software project, and the implication of parts that do not conform to its architectural document is discussed. As a result of checking, it is pointed out that, although the parts are considered allowable exceptions of layered architecture, their modifications should be controlled carefully.

  • Early design phase energy modeling is used to provide the design team with first order of magnitude feedback about the impact of various building configurations. For better energy-conscious and sustainable building design and operation, the construction of BIM data interoperability for energy performance assessment in the early design phase is important. The purpose of this study is to suggest construction of BIM data interoperability for energy performance assessment based on BIM. To archive this purpose, the authors have investigated advantage of BIM-based energy performance assessment through comparison with traditional energy performance assessment and suggested requirement for construction of open BIM environment such as BIM data creation, BIM data software practical use, BIM data application and verification. In addition, the authors have suggested BIM data interoperability and BIM energy property mapping method focused on materials.

  • 최근 임베디드 시스템 개발이 Model Driven Engineering 방식으로 변화하면서 요구사항과 모델 간의 추적성을 보장하는 것이 매우 중요해졌다. 이 논문에서는 기존의 FDD(Feature Driven Development)와 FOSE(Feature Oriented Software Engineering) 방법론에 적용된 feature 개념을 재정의하여 이를 AUTOSAR platform에 적용하는 방법을 제시하며 요구사항부터 model, code까지 추적성을 검증한다.

  • In this paper, A target architecture and interface synthesizer are proposed for processor-embedded codesign. The target architecture has the form of ARM processor based on AMBA. The interface synthesizer automatically generates an interface circuit for the communication between HW and SW. A memory map is used as the communication channel and an interrupt-based interface is applied for synchronized communication between HW and SW modules. In order to verify the function and performance of proposed target architecture and the interface synthesizer, practical test example is applied. Experimental results show the proposed interface synthesizer functioned correctly in the HW/SW codesign environment.

  • This paper proposes a software development guidance and an evaluation index for the productivity related to Spring 2.5 and EJB 3.0 with same lightweight container architecture. Spring is a known successful open source standard model for lightweight container architecture. EJB in an enterprise environment as a standard framework is most commonly used in production. However, there is no comparison research about the performance of Spring 2.5 and EJB 3.0 Framework with same identical platform. Quantitative analysis is supported as a part of LoC(Line of Code) analysis. There is a limit to develop the updated software with no the specific evaluating index for the productivity of the software. In this study, the development platform environment based on the same pilot system Spring 2.5 and EJB 3.0 framework is in the design and implementation. In addition, comparison and standardization of software development productivity assessment is to provide guidance.

  • In this letter, we present a design of a single chip video decoder called advanced mobile video ASIC (A-MoVa) for mobile multimedia applications. This chip uses a mixed hardware/software architecture to improve both its performance and its flexibility. We designed the chip using a partition between the hardware and software blocks, and developed the architecture of an H.264 decoder based on the system-on-a-chip (SoC) platform. This chip contains 290,000 logic gates, 670,000 memory gates, and its size is $7.5\;mm{\times}7.5\;mm$ (using 0.25 micron 4-layers metal CMOS technology).

  • In electronic commerce, a registry is an integrated software system that supports access to registry metadata in order to locate and retrieve registered objects it can be discovered and used by a client or customer. In general, a registry consists of information model and its service. A registry implementation supports a registry services interface that can be used by abstract agents to assist a human or some other software process to register new objects, provide appropriate metadata for those objects, browse or query registry content, filter out irrelevant references, and retrieve the content of selected items. We show a layered registry architecture that is flexible enough to support the required specialization of many different kinds of registry specification of other sponsoring groups. This architecture could easily adopt different registry specification. This paper suggests a prototype implementation model which supports ebXML Registry standard based on this layered architecture.
