Aneurysms of the extracranial carotid artery are rare. This is a case report of the rapidly expanding false carotid aneurysm at left common carotid artery, which was repaired surgically with internal shunt This 20 year old male patient had a large pulsatile mass on left lateral aspect of neck at the time of admission. About 1 month before admission, he had received a trauma on left neck by glass piece and noted massive blood loss. And its skin of lesion was sutured simply at local clinic and well healed. 10 days before the admission, he had the sudden onset of the adult thumb sized and pulsatile mass and the mass had been enlarged more and more to the adult first-sized one. The cervical film showed a egg-sized and soft tissue mass. There was systolic bruit on the mass. The diagnosis was confirmed with the angiogram of left carotid artery and this showed the man`s thumb tip-sized extravasation at the point 2 Cm below the bifurcation of Internal and external carotid arteries. The emergency operation was performed by the internal shunt with carotid artery. The aneurysm was enclosed with the adventitia and carotid sheath, and the intima and media were Intact and had the opening of 0.5 cm in diameter. The opening was sutured by the one-hand mattress suture method and firmed with the Aron Alpha-A "Sankyo." The postoperative course was uneventful and the patient was discharged with good general condition.

A 16-year-old female Poodle with multiple mammary masses was referred to the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital of Seoul National University. Radiographic finding indicated a round mass of soft tissue density at the ventral portion of the 4th-7th sternum, which was 7 cm in diameter and presented multiple mineralization within the mass. Cytologically, aspirate of the mammary mass was moderately cellular and revealed well-differentiated osteoblasts with moderately basophilic cytoplasm, various sized and eccentrically placed nuclei and distinct nucleoli. Osteoblasts interspersed with osteoid-suspected pink-staining intercellular matrix. Some cells displayed malignant features such as macronuclei, macronucleoli, binucleation, abnormal mitotic figures, anisocytosis and anisokaryosis. On which the mass was diagnosed as osteosarcoma. Histopathologic examinations of the mass were compatible with a diagnosis of osteosarcoma. The patient was treated with surgery alone. The patient died 45 days later from surgery.

A spayed female, 8-year-old, maltese, weighing 1.84 kg with a history of acute severe vomiting, anorexia, depression for 2 day was referred. An abdominal mass was palpated with abdominal pain on physical examination. Radiographic findings included two soft tissue density masses in the mid-abdominal cavity and gas dilated colon. Ultrasonographs showed one heterogeneous hypoechoic round mass including intestinal wall. There were loss of normal wall layering and motility and absence of internal lumen of the intestinal wall. And another heterogeneous hyperechoic mass was identified to the medial side of the intestinal mass. Based on clinical signs, image findings, and the result of fine needle aspiration, intestinal obstruction due to alimentary lymphoma was diagnosed. On surgery, a cecal lymphoma and mesenteric lymphadenopathy were confirmed and the cecal mass was resected.

평소 복부 팽만을 보인 2세 남아가 내원 3일 전부터 간헐적인 구토를 동반하여 시행한 복부 방사선 사진에서 좌상복부에서 석회화 소견을 관찰하여 상부 위장관내시경과 복부 전산화 단층 사진을 시행하였다. 술 후 병리 검사에서 상당히 빈도가 드문 석회화 섬유 종양을 발견하였기에 보고하는 바이다.

A 16-year-old female was admitted to Wonkwang dental hospital with a chief complaint of painful ulceration on right buccal mucosa around mandibular 3rd molar area. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging showed relative large soft tissue mass on the infratemporal fossa and masseter muscle region. By the feature of T1-weighted and T2-weighted of MR imaging, we suspected this mass as a kind of myogenic sarcoma. Histopathological and immunohistochemical studies established a definitive diagnosis of embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma. A review of the literature was also presented.

Wandering spleen is a rare condition characterized by migration of the spleen from its normal position due to laxity or absence of the supporting splenic ligaments. Ultrasonography shows the absence of the spleen in left upper quadrant (LUQ) and the presentation in the lower abdomen of a homognous mass whose sonographic appearance is consistent with that of a spleen. Contrast-enhanced CT reveals the absence of the spleen in LUQ, a soft tissue mass resembling spleen in the lower abdomen, and the splenic pedicle of whirled appearance. We present a case of wandering spleen, which could be diagnosed with US and CT by the ectopic location of spleen and the whirling pattern of splenic pedicle.

Rupture of the rectus femoris at the musculotendinous junction is very rarely reported in the literature, especially which is caused by chronic repetitive stimulation. A 21 year old soldier complained of progressing right thigh pain and mass for 8 weeks after military training. MRI of the right thigh showed inhomogenous mass lesion suspecting soft tissue tumor. However ultrasonographic examination showed torn retracted rectus femoris tendon at musculotendinous junction. One year after primary repair of ruptured tendon, the patient is free from symptoms and returned to full previous activities. Knowledge of this sonographic and MRI finding will help the surgeon to diagnose and treat this rare injury.

Extraskeletal osteogenic sarcoma is a rare malignant tumor of soft tissue, and its predilection sites are the extremity, retroperitoneum, trunk, and the head and neck area. To our knowledge 5 cases of primary involvement of the mediastinum have been reported. Because of its rarity and difficulty in exact diagnosis preoperatively, we report an extraskeletal osteogenic sarcoma in the anterior mediastinum. The patient was a thirty eight old male. He complained of cough and sputum over 2 months. The chest roentgenogram and the chest MRI[magnetic resonance image] were done and showed anterior mediastinal mass with calcification. Excision of the mass was done under the preoperative impression of thymoma, and the pathologic report was extraskeletal osteogenic sarcoma of the mediastinum.

Human sparganosis is a rare parasitic disease in which the larval cestode proliferates in the various organs in the body. It usually presents as a subcutaneous or soft tissue mass. By fine needle aspiration this lesion can be diagnosed with its characteristic cytologic findings. We experienced 3 cases of sparganosis diagnosed by the fine needle aspiration. Aspirates were taken from subcutaneous mass in the abdomen and both thighs respect ively. The aspirates showed a portion of body of sparganum with numerous calcospherules, smooth muscles and tegmental cells. They also revealed granulomas with various inflammatory infiltration of eosinophils, neutrophils, lymphocytes and plasma cells.
