Training-Effectiveness and Team-Performance in Public Organization

  • This study aims to invest in empirical relationships in a model that becomes the process of Team-Performance due to participation in practical training through causality between Training Effectiveness variables, soft-skill competence, Employee-Creativity, and team performance. This study uses a quantitative approach. The analytical tool used is structural equation modeling (SEM) using AMOS version 23 software. Accidental sampling technique is used to collect the sample. As many as 202 respondents filled up a survey questionnaire with complete and valid answers. This study's results significantly contribute to fill the gap of inadequate empirical evidence that can answer critical questions about the missing link between training and employee-performance, more specifically between training-effectiveness and team-performance. The results showed that practical training would encourage employees' soft-skill competence, improve Employee-Creativity, and improve Team-Performance. Furthermore, training-effectiveness also plays a significant role in enhancing employee-creativity and helping in optimal team-performance. This study also found that the relationship between employee-creativity and team-performance did not show positive and significant results; therefore, empirically, it did not support the hypothesis built in this study. Practical training targeted towards increasing soft-skills and creativity is a fundamental reason which not only aims to contribute toward organizational performance but also provides personal feedback for self-development.

공학인 대상 ${\ll}$공적 말하기${\gg}$ 교육의 만족도와 학습자 요구 분석 사례 연구 (A Case Study on Learning Satisfaction and Learners' Needs Towards ${\ll}$Public Speaking${\gg}$ Course at Pusan National University)

  • The purpose of this paper is to verify the education effects of program for engineering students and extract the essential components to be included in the learning contents. For this, we investigated the lecture contents critically and analyzed the evaluation result of questionnaire to examine the students' learning satisfaction and learners' needs concerning the effectiveness of course. The survey using two types of questionnaires was conducted with 210 junior and senior students taking lectures of ${\ll}$Presentation and Debate Skills${\gg}$ in the college of engineering at Pusan National University. According to the evaluation result, students experienced various speech education's effects concerning (1) verbal components, (2) non-verbal components, (3) problem solving competence, (4) teamwork skills, etc. On the other side there have been pointed out as problems in the ${\ll}$Presentation and Debate Skills${\gg}$ class, such as (1) a large number of assignments, (2) insufficiency of more refined evaluation method for the individuals and (3) a well-balanced arrangement between 'theory' and 'practice' was needed. However more importantly, the individual students can not do practice sufficiently owing to the large scale of class. Therefore the various and effective ways to help students improve their communicative competence have to be developed further. Finally, there have been extracted several essential components to be included in the class and implications for ameliorating the class were discussed and suggested in detail.

영남대학교 리더십 학습성과 교육 CQI 방안에 대한 연구 (A Case Study on the Continuous Quality Improvement for Leadership Outcomes Education in Yeungnam University)

  • 본 연구는 공학교육인증제 운영과정에서 강조되고 있는 학습성과 중 리더십 교육과 관련한 CQI 방안을 탐구하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 본 논문에서는 리더십 교육과 관련된 영남대학교의 사례를 연구하였다. 본 연구를 위해 리더십 교육과 관련된 영남대학교의 교과 및 교과 외 교육과정 분석, 리더십 교육 CQI 방안 마련을 위한 전문가 및 유관 기관 실무자 포커스그룹 면담이 실시되었다. 또한 리더십 캠프 참가자를 대상으로 리더십 역량진단, 리더십 교육 수요 조사, 캠프 만족도 조사를 실시하였다. 리더십 캠프진행을 주관한 데일 카네기 연구소 대구지부의 전문 강사들과 포커스그룹 면담을 실시하고 캠프 기간 동안 비참여관찰법을 통한 내용분석과 질적 면접이 병행되었다. 본 연구 결과를 정리하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 대학수준의 수학능력 향상방안과 심리적 차원의 역량강화 방안이 동시에 고려되어야 한다. 특히 지방대학이라는 특성을 고려할 때 외국어 능력 향상과 자신감 및 비전 수립을 위한 교육에 역점을 둘 필요가 있다. 둘째, 일회성의 단기 리더십 세미나 및 팀 티칭 형태의 교육을 보완하기 위해서 설계교과목 이수체계도를 활용한 중장기 교육계획 수립 및 리더십 캠프 참가 경험이 있는 학생과 차기 캠프 참가자들간의 멘토-멘티제 운영이 고려될 수 있다. 셋째, 리더십 교육에 역점을 두는 전공, 학과 및 교내외 유관기관 관계자들로 구성된 리더십 교육 자문위원회를 구성함으로써 체계적이고 효과적인 리더십 교육을 실현할 수 있을 것이다.
