In this paper, the surface wave that caused the isolation problem when the design of the array antenna is studied. The grounded dielectric slab model is used in order to simulate in the similar environment with the surface wave of the microstrip patch antenna. The propagation of the surface wave on the various types of grounds which are defected ground structure(DGS), perfect magnetic conductor(PMC), Soft-surface, and Hard-surface is simulated. As a result, 25 % power is blocked by the DGS when the TM-wave incident. Also, 95 % power is blocked by the PMC and Soft-surface. This study will be very useful to increase the gain of an array antenna by improving the isolation between the antenna elements.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to identify the correlation between calcium in soft drinks and enamel remineralization. Method: Six soft drinks were used in this study. These were calcium milk, normal milk, calcium yoghurt, normal yoghurt, calcium orange juice, and orange juice. Enamel specimens which 300- 400Vickers Hardness Number (VHN) were selected. These samples were immersed in each soft drink for 12 hours in an in vitro remineralization model. All specimens were processed for SEM image of the enamel surface. Results were analyzed by SPSS 13.0 package program. Results: Calcium milk was the most influential and normal yoghurt was the least to enamel surface. There was not significant difference according to calcium supplement in milk although the difference of enamel hardness was ${\Delta}f13.4$ in calcium milk, and ${\Delta}f4.7$ in normal milk (P>0.05). Other soft drinks showed a little change about calcium but they were insignificant. Demineralization effect was remarkably observed in calcium yoghurt ($-{\Delta}f269.1$) and this effect was confirmed by SEM images. In conclusion, calcium supplemented soft drinks had little influences to hardness of enamel surface.
Purpose: Anteromedial surface of the leg is susceptible to trauma, which frequently induces soft tissue defect. When the size of a soft tissue defect is small to moderate, a local muscle flap is an easy and reliable alternative to a free flap. The authors performed medial hemisoleus flaps for reconstruction of soft tissue defects on the anteromedial surface of legs. The aim of this study was to evaluate clinical outcomes and effectiveness of the medial hemisoleus flap. Materials and Methods: Twelve patients underwent the medial hemisoleus flap for reconstruction of a soft tissue defect on the anteromedial surface of the leg from February 2009 to December 2013. There were eight males and four females with a mean age of 47.8 years (15 to 69 years). The mean size of defects was $4.7{\times}4.2cm$ ($2{\times}2$ to $9{\times}6cm$). Flap survival and postoperative complications were evaluated. Results: Mean follow-up period was 39.6 months (7 to 64 months) and all flaps survived. There were two cases of negligible necrosis of distal margin of the flap, which were healed after debridement. All patients were capable of full weight bearing ambulation at the last follow-up. Conclusion: The medial hemisoleus flap is a simple, reliable procedure for treatment of a small to moderate sized soft tissue defect on the anteromedial surface of the leg.
The purpose of this investigation was to determine the surface characteristics and the fittness of the resilienct denture lines. Firstly, 50 samples ($2.0{\times}4.0{\times}0.3cm$) of 4 resilient lining materials (Molloplast B, Coe Super Soft, Mollosil, Coe Soft) and one conventional acrylic resin (K-33) were processed according to manufacture's direction and examined the surface characteristics by use of surface profilometer and scanning electron microscopy. Secondly, 50 identical maxillary casts were made and 50 denture bases were pro cessed of 4 resilient liners and one conventional acrylic resin and they were stored in the room temperature water bath of 1 day, 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, 4 weeks and 6 weeks after processing. The original casts were cut away 1 cm from the posterior border, the dentures were seated, and the existing space was measured at seven regions according to the storage time by use of the modified thickness guage. The results were as follows. 1. Surface roughness (Rz) were $4.00{\pm}1.60{\mu}m$ in Mollosil, $4.47{\pm}2.21{\mu}m$ in Molloplast B, $7.46{\pm}1.70{\mu}m$ in Coe Super Soft, $12.70{\pm}2.39{\mu}m$ in Coe Soft and $13.03{\pm}2.74{\mu}m$ in K-33. 2. The generation of porosity was far more active in cold-cured resilient liners (Coe Soft and Mollosil) than in heat cured resilient liners (Molloplast B, and Coe Super Soft) and conventional heat cured resin (K-33). 3. Denture bases showed the greatest discrepancy at the central portion of the posterior palatal border and the intimate contact in the buccal flange regardless of denture base materials. 4. When the denture bases were stored in the water for 1 day and 6 weeks after processing, the sum of average discrepancies in the seven regions of the denture base was the greatest in K-33 followed by Molloplast B, Mollosil, Coe Soft and Coe Super Soft but followed by Coe Soft, Molloplast B, Mollosil, Coe Super Soft in that order respectively. 5. There was not a significant difference (p>0.05) in Coe Super Soft, K-33 but there was a significant difference (P<0.01) in Molloplast B, Mollosil, Coe Soft at the amount of dimensional changes according to the storage time.

In this study, the mechanical behavior of very soft ground that is reinforced on the surface has been investigated with the aid of a series of numerical analyses. Key material properties of each dredged soft ground, reinforcement and backfill sand mat have been parametrically estimated in the numerical analysis. Along with the result of the study previously performed, a series of in-situ loading conditions and settlement exerted by surface reinforcing operation by construction vehicles has been numerically simulated. These result have been used to evaluate the limit bearing capacity for the unreinforced and reinforced soft ground. Also, the results of the numerical analysis obtained in this research were compared with Yamanouchi's empirical correlation for the limit bearing capacity. Engineering charts listed in this paper for estimating the limit bearing capacity provide field engineers with preliminary design tool for surface reinforcement of very soft ground.
The number of construction of roads and railroads in soft ground such as coastal areas and wetlands is getting increased. For this reason cases that soft ground improvement is applied are increasing. In general, many ground improvement methods consider only the working conditions at the time or only economy. But if the working condition and economy are taken into consideration together, the number of applicable construction method gets limited. In such a case, a ground improvement method using both the surface layer portion and the deep layer portion is applied. But the basic research on this is still insufficient in practice. Therefore, in this study the reinforcement effect of geogrid was investigated by carrying out the model test realizing the case in which soft surface ground improvement and depth improvement are simultaneously applied. And it was intened to understand the effect of the thickness of surface layer, the diameter and length of the improvement body on the reinforcement effect of geogrid. The result showed that the effect of the surface layer thickness is greater than the effect of the deep layer diameter. Moreover, when the surface layer is reinforced with a geogrid, the strength of the surface layer part is enhanced and this effect of a geogrid reinforcement caused the reduction of surface settlement.

Recently, as large constructions on the coast are performed frequently, surface layer stabilization method which Is one of the improvement methods for dredged soft clay has been applied. However, there have been few studies about the surface layer stabilization method. The purpose of this study is to clarify characteristics of ultra-soft marine clay and hardening agent. Also, optimal mixture ratio of hardening agent was verified through the laboratory tests such as statistical analysis and pilot tests. Laboratory tests were performed with proper hardening agent and test soil and standard mixing tables of hardening agent were determined according to ground conditions through statistical analysis. Also, applicability of surface layer stabilization method to field was verified by pilot tests. From the results of the tests, it was found that hardening agent materials such as cement, slag, fly-ash, inorganic salts, arwin, gypsum etc. affect on the appearing compressive strength. It was defined optimal mixture ratio which satisfies the required compressive strength from the statistical analysis. Also, It was compared the effect of ground improvement by cements and hardening agents through the pilot tests. This study will serve as data for design or construction criteria of stabilization of surface layer on ultra-soft marine clay.

In this paper, we have studied isolation enhancement using a suppression of surface wave to improve performance of array antenna. To reduce isolation between elements of array antenna, perfect magnetic conductor(PMC) and SOFT-surface is designed and located at center of ground plane, isolation and gain is simulated by commercial full wave simulator(HFSS). As a result, isolation of more than 40 dB and gain improvement of 2.2 dBi are obtained at E-plane array in case of both PMC and SOFT-surface. At H-plane array, air coupling is dominant compared to coupling by surface wave. It is conclude that this study is useful for design of compact array antenna and performance improvement of array antenna.
The porosity (including the specific surface area and pore volume-diameter distribution) of montmorillonitic soft rock (MSR) was studied experimentally with an electrochemical treatment, based on which the change in porosity was further analyzed from the perspective of its electrokinetic potential (${\zeta}$ potential) and the isoelectric point of the electric double layer on the surface of the soft rock particles. The variation between the ${\zeta}$ potential and porosity was summarized, and used to demonstrate that the properties of softening, degradation in water, swelling, and disintegration of MSR can be modified by electrochemical treatment. The following conclusions were drawn. The specific surface area and total pore volume decreased, whereas the average pore diameter increased after electrochemical modification. The reduction in the specific surface area indicates a reduction in the dispersibility and swelling-shrinking of the clay minerals. After modification, the ${\zeta}$ potential of the soft rock was positive in the anodic zone, there was no isoelectric point, and the rock had lost its properties of softening, degradation in water, swelling, and disintegration. The ${\zeta}$ potential increased in the intermediate and cathodic zones, the isoelectric point was reduced or unchanged, and the rock properties are reduced. When the ${\zeta}$ potential is increased, the specific surface area and the total pore volume were reduced according to the negative exponent law, and the average pore diameter increased according to the exponent law.
This paper investigates the development of failure surfaces induced by an embankment on soft marine clay deposits and the characteristics of such surfaces through numerical simulations and its comparative study with monitoring results. It is well known that the factor of safety of embankment slopes is closely related to the vertical loading, including the height of the embankment. That is, an increase in the embankment height reduces the factor of safety. However, few studies have examined the relationship between the lateral movement of soft soil beneath the embankment and the factor of safety. In addition, no study has investigated the distribution of the pore pressure coefficient B value along the failure surface. This paper conducts a continuum analysis using finite difference methods to characterize the development of failure surfaces during embankment construction on soft marine clay deposits. The results of the continuum analysis for failure surfaces, stress, displacement, and the factor of safety can be used for the management of embankment construction. In failure mechanism, it has been validated that a large shear displacement causes change of stress and pore pressure along the failure surface. In addition, the pore pressure coefficient B value decreases along the failure surface as the embankment height increases. This means that the rate of change in stress is higher than that in pore pressure.
