Bragg Gratings Generated by Coupling of Surface Plasmons Induced on Metal N anoparticles

  • Diffraction Bragg gratings consisting of metal (silver) nanoparticles are generated inside a soda-lime glass substrate. After ion-exchanging and annealing processes in the glass, the silver nanoparticles are first formed with the particle diameters of 10 nm ∼ 30 nm. By interfering two CW laser beams at ∼ 60 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ deep under the surface of the nanoparticles-dispersed glass, Bragg gratings with thickness of 15 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and period of 3.5 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ are generated. Diffraction efficiency of the gratings formed by two TE-polarized beams is three times higher than that by two TM-polarized beams. From this polarization dependence, we have found that strong coupling of the surface plasmons induced on the metal particles may contribute dominantly to generate the diffraction grating.

Waste Glass as an Activator in Class-C fly Ash/GGBS based Alkali Activated Material

  • An alkaline activator was synthesized by dissolving waste glass powder (WGP) in NaOH-4M solution to explore its effects on the Class-C fly ash (FA) and ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS) based alkali-activated material (AAM). The compressive strength and porosity were measured, and (SEM-EDX) were used to study the hydration mechanism and microstructure. Results indicated that the composition of alkali solutions was significant in enhancing the properties of the obtained AAM. As the amount of dissolved WGP increased in alkaline solution, the silicon concentration increased, causing the accelerated reactivity of FA/GGBS to develop Ca-based hydrate gel as the main reaction product in the system, thereby increasing the strength. Further increase in WGP dissolution led to strength loss, which were believed to be due to the excessive water demand of FA/GGBS composites to achieve optimum mixing consistency. Increasing the GGBS proportion in a composite also appeared to improve the strength which contributed to develop C-S-H-type hydration.

SOFC용 유리-세라믹섬유 복합기밀재의 고온 기체누설 거동 (High Temperature Gas Leak Behavior of Glass-Ceramic Fiber Composite Seals for SOFC Applications)

  • Glass composites containing ceramic fiber have been developed for Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) seals. Effect of glass type, loading pressure and thermal cycle the leak rates of composite seals was investigated. Seal performance of two commercial glasses was compared with that of $SiO_2BaO-B_2O_3$ glass synthesized in this work. The leak rate for seals made of pyrex(R) increases from $\~0.0005\;to\;\~0.004sccm/cm$ as the gas pressure increases from 10 to 50 kPa. The soda lime silicate glass seal shows the leak rate two times higher than the one made of pyrex(R) or $SiO_2BaO-B_2O_3$ glass. The viscosity of glass at the seal test temperature is presumed to affect the leak rate of the glass seal. As the applied loading pressure increases from 0.4 to 0.8 MPa at $750^{\circ}C$, the leak rate decreases from 0.038 to 0.024 sccm/cm for composite seals. It has been found that during 50 thermal cycles between $450^{\circ}C\;to\;700^{\circ}C$ leak rates remained almost constant, ranging from 0.025 to 0.03sccm/cm. The results showed an excellent thermal cycle stability as well as sealability of the glass matrix ceramic fiber composite seals.

저온실링용 ZnO-V2O5-P2O5계 봉착재의 물성에 미치는 TiO2 의 영향 (Effect of TiO2 on the Properties of ZnO-V2O5-P2O5 Low Temperature Sealing Glasses)

  • We designed new compositions for lead free and low temperature sealing glass frit of $ZnO-V_2O_5-P_2O_5$ system, which can be used for PDP (Plasma Display Panel) or other electronic devices. The $ZnO-V_2O_5-P_2O_5$ system can be used as a sealing material at temperatures even lower than 430$^{\circ}C$. This system, however, showed lower bonding strength with glass substrate compared to commercialized Pb based sealing materials. So, we added $TiO_2$ as a promoter for bonding strength. We examined the effect of $TiO_2$ addition on sealing behaviors of $ZnO-V_2O_5-P_2O_5$ glasses with the data for flow button, wetting angle, temporary & permanent residual stress of glass substrate, EPMA analysis of interface between sealing materials and glass substrate, and bonding strength. As a result, sealing characteristics of $ZnO-V_2O_5-P_2O_5$ system glasses were improved with $TiO_2$ addition, but showed a maximum value at 5 mol% $TiO_2$ addition. The reason for improved bonding characteristics was considered to be the chemical interaction between glass substrate and sealing glass, and structural densification of sealing glass itself.

  • Cu2ZnSnSe4는 CIS 태양전지의 In 대체 물질계로 주목을 받고 있는 저가형 태양전지 재료로 장차 차세대 태양전지 재료로 응용이 기대되고 있다. 그러나 에너지 밴드갭이 0.9~1.1eV로 다소 낮아 태양전지 광흡수층 재료로 사용하기 위해서는 wide band gab화 처리가 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 CZTSe에 S를 첨가하여 에너지 밴드갭을 확장하고자 하며, S의 첨가가 CZTSe 박막의 특성에 미치는 영향에 대하여 조사하였다. 실험의 편의성을 도모하고자 펄스레이저 법을 사용하여 증착하였다. 박막 조성 제어에는 Cu, Zn, Sn, Se, S 분말을 볼밀로 분쇄, 혼합하여 균질 혼합상 프리커서를 제조하고 이를 Cold Isostatic Press(CIP) 성형하여 Source target을 사용하였다. Pulsed YAG-Laser를 사용하여 soda lime glass상에 증착하고 조성, 구조, 조직을 관찰하고 에너지 밴드갭, 광흡수계수, 면저항, 전하밀도 등 특성을 조사하였다.

Doctor blade를 이용한 용액형 CIGS 균일 코팅에 관한 연구 (A Study of CIGS Coated Thin-Film Layer using Doctor Blade Process)

  • Recently, printing and coating technologies application fields have been expanded to the energy field such as solar cell. One of the main reasons, why many researchers have been interested in printing technology as a manufacturing method, is the reduction of manufacturing cost. In this paper, We fabricated CIGS solar cell thin film layer by doctor blade methods using synthesis of CIS precursor nanoparticles ink on molybdenum (Mo) coated soda-lime glass substrate. Synthesis CIS precursor nanoparticles ink fabrication was mixed Cu, In, Se powder and Ethylenediamine, using microwave and centrifuging. Using multi coating process as we could easily fabrication a fine flatness CIS thin-film layer ($0.7{\sim}1.35{\mu}m$), and reduce a manufacture cost and process steps. Also if we use printing and coating method and solution process in each layer of CIGS solar cell (electrode, buffer), it is possible to fabricate all printed thin-film solar cell.

  • 전자부품용 Pb-free sealing frit의 열팽창계수를 기판에 matching 시키기 위하여 음의 열팽창계수를 가지고 있는 $\beta$-Eucryptite, $\beta$-Spodumene를 합성하여 filler로 첨가하였다. 합성된 filler는 저온소성용 유리프리트의 높은 열팽창계수를 조절하기 용이하고, 유리프리트와 복합화 하여 소성하면 낮은 열팽창계수로 인한 우수한 열충격 저항성을 갖는다. Filler로써 $\beta$-Eucryptite, $\beta$-Spodumene의 결정성을 향상시키기 위해 $1250^{\circ}C$에서 5 시간 동안 유지하는 합성공정을 3회 반복 진행한 후 XRD를 사용하여 결정성을 분석하였고, TMA를 이용하여 filler 첨가량에 따른 유리프리트의 열팽장계수의 변화를 측정하였다. 또한, filler 입도와 함량에 따른 melting 특성을 분석하기 위해 Pill test를 진행하였으며, soda-lime glass 기판과의 접합면을 SEM을 사용하여 관찰하였다.

  • 고상 소결법으로 715iO$_2$+11$Na_2$O+10CaO+3Er$_2$O$_3$+5Yb$_2$O$_3$(all wt%) 조성의 스퍼터용 유리 타겟을 제조하여, RF 마그네트론 스퍼터에 의해 희토류 원소가 첨가된 광증폭기용 다성분계 sodium calcium silicate 유리박막을 제조하였다. 최적의 공정조건을 얻기 위해 RF-power, 공정압력, 기판온도를 변화시키면서 박막을 제조하여 RF-power 150W, 공정압력 4mtorr, 기판온도 50$0^{\circ}C$, 타겟-기판 거리 6cm에서 타겟의 손상이 심하지 않으면서, 1.4$mu extrm{m}$/h의 최고 증착율을 가지는 양질의 박막을 제조하였다. SnO$_2$박막의 전기적 특성에 미치는 불소 doping및 열처리 효과 (Effect of fluorine doping and heat treatment for SnO$_2$ thin films on electrical properties)

  • Transparent and electrical conducting tin oxide thin films were fabricated on soda lime silicate glass by thermal chemical vapour deposition technique. Thin films were deposition from mixtures of tetramethyltin (TMT) as a precursor, oxygen or oxygen containing ozone as an oxidant and 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane as a doping material. Electrical properties of fabricated tin oxide films were changed depending on substrate temperature, and the amount of dopant. Resistivity of tin oxide films was reduced by doping fluorine or heat treatment. Thin films can be optimized at TMT flow rate of 8sccm, oxygen flow rate of 150sccm, 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane floe rate of 300sccm and substrate temperature $380^{\circ}C$. In this conditions, the lowest resistivity of tin oxide films were $9$\times$10^{-4}$ $\Omega$cm.

  • The role of elastic/plastic mismatch on the contact crack initiation is investigated for designing desirable surface-coated asymmetric layered composites. Various layered composites such as $Si_3N_4$ ceramics on $Si_3N_4+BN$ composite, soda-lime glass on various substrates with different elastic modulus for the analysis. Spherical indentation is conducted for producing contact cracks from the surface or interface between the coating and the substrate layer. A finite element analysis of the stress fields in the loaded layer composites enables a direct correlation between the damage patterns and the stress distributions. Implications of these conclusions concerning the design of asymmetric layered composites indicate that the elastic modulus mismatch is one of the important parameter for designing layered composite to prevent the initiation of contact cracks.
