Photoelectric Conversion Properties of Dye-sensitized Solar Cell in the Transparent Electrode of Textured-AZO/AZO/Glass (Textured-AZO/AZO/Glass 투명전극을 갖는 염료감응 태양전지의 광전변환 특성)

  • We were studied that AZO conductive thin film can substitute for FTO electrode in dye sensitized solar cell. Three types of AZO films were deposited on soda-lime glass(AZO/glass, AZO/AZO/glass, textured AZO/AZO/glass) using RF magnetron sputtering process and investigated their properties of electrical, optical, and photoelectric conversion rate. The textured AZO/AZO/glass has the lowest resistivity of $3.079{\times}10^{-4}\;{\Omega}cm$ among other films. And the optical transmittance rate was better than both non textured AZO/AZO/glass and FTO/glass in the visible region. After manufacturing dye solar cells using the three types of AZO films, the textured AZO/AZO/glass showed the highest photoelectric conversion rate of 3.68% among AZO samples. But the transformation rate was slightly lower than FTO cells (4.52%). However, the conductive film of textured AZO/AZO/glass can be applicable to use an electrode in solar cells as cost-effective products.

Finite Element Analysis and Experimental Study About Damage Behavior of Glass by Oblique Impact of Steel Ball (강구 경사충돌에 의한 유리의 손상 거동에 대한 실험적 연구 및 유한요소 해석)

  • The damage behavior of soda-lime glass was studied due to a steel ball of 1mm and 2mm at oblique impact test. The thickness of glass specimen were 3mm and 5mm and oblique degrees of impact were 90$^{\circ}$,70$^{\circ}$ and 50$^{\circ}$. After the steel ball impact test, the crack patterns were investigated using a stereo-microscope. In addition, the finite element method was performed to analyze the stresses distribution and variation in the oblique impacted glass by steel ball. As a result of the impact test, the crack length of 90$^{\circ}$impacted glass was the largest and that of 50$^{\circ}$impacted glass was the smallest. In particular, as the impact velocity and diameter of the steel ball increased, the difference of crack length was prominent. The finite element analysis showed the maximum principle stresses distribution in contact area of glass specimen. The result of analysis was accorded with the crack growth behavior by the oblique impact test.

  • 칼코젠계 태양전지의 광흡수층으로 사용되는 CuInSe2은 직접천이형 반도체로 광흡수계수가 $1{\times}105cm-1$로 매우 높고, 전기광학적 안정성이 우수하여 실리콘 결정질 태양전지를 대체할 고효율 태양전지로 각광받고 있다. 광흡수층의 밴드갭 에너지가 증가하면 태양전지의 개방전압(Voc)이 증가하여 광변환 효율을 향상시킬 수 있으므로, CuInSe2에서 In의 일부를 Ga으로 치환하여 에너지 밴드갭의 변화를 주는 연구가 많이 진행되고 있다. 그러나 화합물내의 Ga 조성비가 증가하면 단락전류(Jsc), 충진률(fill factor)이 낮아져 태양전지 효율을 저하시키게 되므로 CIGS 박막의 적절한 화합물 조성비를 갖도록 최적조건을 확립하는 것이 매우 중요하다. 본 실험에서는 광흡수층 형성을 위해 Sputtering법으로 금속 전구체를 증착하고, 고온에서 셀렌화 열처리를 수행하는 Sequential process(2단계 증착법)를 이용하였다. soda-lime glass 기판에 Back contact으로 Mo를 증착하고, 1단계로 CuIn0.7Ga0.3 조성비의 타겟을 이용하여 Sputtering법으로 $0.5{\sim}2{\mu}m$ 두께의 CIG 전구체를 증착하였다. 2단계로 CIG 전구체의 셀렌화열처리를 통하여 CIGS 화합물 구조의 박막을 형성시켰다. 이때 형성된 CIGS 화합물 박막의 두께는 동일하게 함으로써, 열처리온도에 의한 박막의 구조변화를 비교하였다. 증착된 CIGS 박막은 고온 엑스선회절분석을 통해 증착 두께와 온도 변화에 따른 CIGS 층의 구조 변화를 확인하고, 동일한 증착조건으로 Buffer layer, Window layer, Grid 전극을 형성하여 태양전지셀 특성을 평가함으로써 CIGS 태양전지 광흡수층의 결정구조에 따른 광변환 효율을 비교하였다.

Substrate Temperature Effects on DC Sputtered Mo thin film

  • To improve the adhesion of Mo thin film as a back contact material, a DC magnetron sputtering system was used to deposit in the form of a bi-layer on soda-lime glass. Films with low resistivity and good adhesion were obtained from this deposition, even though the two qualities were found be hard to obtain at the same time. The best Mo bi-layer showed a resistivity of $8.13{\times}10^{-4}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$ at $500^{\circ}C$ and $3.0{\times}10^{-3}\;Torr$. The XRD measurements showed that the crystallites of the films were mainly oriented in the (110) direction, the FE-SEM images revealed that the resistivity of the Mo films decreased with increasing substrate temperature, which temperature reduction is accompanied by an increase of the grain size. These experimental results were analyzed using the Fuchs-Sondheimer theory. Our Mo bi-layer film with better crystallinity and lower resistivity can be suitably used as a back-contact layer for CIGS solar cells.

Characterization of $SnO_2$ Thin Films Prepared by Thermal-CVD (열화학증착법으로 제조된 $SnO_2$박막의 특성)

  • Transparent and conducting tin oxide thin films were prepared on soda lime silicate glass by thermal chemical vapour deposition. Thin films were fabricated from mixtures of tetramethyltin (TMT) as a precursor, oxygen or oxygen containing ozone as an oxidant. The properties of fabricated tin oxide films are highly changed with variations of substrate temperature. Optimized thin films could be prepared on TMT, which flow rate of 8 sccm, oxygen flow rate of 150 sccm and substrate temperature of 38$0^{\circ}C$. We reduced deposition temperature about$ 180^{\circ}C$ by using of oxygen containing ozone instead of pure oxygen and resistivity of thin films was decreased from ~ ${\times}10^{-2}{\Omega}cm$ to ~${\times}10^{-3}{\Omega}cm$.

EVALUATION OF WATER REPELLENCY FOR SILICON OXIDE FILMS PREPARED BY RF PLASMA-ENTRANCED CVD

  • Silicom oxide films with good water repellency were prepared by rf plasma-enhanced CVD (rf-PECVD) using four kinds of organosilicon compound, which had different number of methyl ($CH_3$) groups, and oxygen as gas sources. The differences in the deposition rates, film composition and film properties were studied in detail. Water repellency depended on the number of $CH_3$ groups in the organosilicon compounds and the partial pressure of oxygen in the plasma. The highest contact angle for water drops, about 95 degrees, was obtained when trimethy lmethoxy silane (TMMOS) was used. The contact angle decreased with the amount of oxygen gas introduced into the plasma. The dissociation of $CH_3$ groups by adding oxygen was comfirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The optical properties were estimated by double-beam spectroscopy and ellipsometry. The transmittance of the glass plate coated by the film prepared with tetramethoxy silane (TMOS) was about 90% and the refractive index of film was 1.44. This value was smaller than the refractive index of a glass plate(soda lime glass, refractive index is 1.515) and this film played a role of anti-refractive coating.

Biomimetically Engineered Polymeric Surfaces for Micro-scale Tribology

  • In this paper, we report on the replication of surface topography of natural leaf of Lotus onto thin polymeric films using a capillarity-directed soft lithographic technique. PDMS molds were used to replicate the surface. The replication was carried out on poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) film coated on silicon wafer. The patterns so obtained were investigated for their friction properties at micro-scale using a ball-on-flat type micro-tribo tester, under reciprocating motion. Soda lime balls (1 mm diameter) were used as counterface sliders. Friction tests were conducted at a constant applied normal load of $3000{\mu}N$ and speed of 1mm/s. All experiments were conducted at ambient temperature ($24{\pm}1^{\circ}C$) and relative humidity ($45{\pm}5%$). Results showed that the patterned samples exhibited superior tribological properties when compared to the silicon wafer and non patterned sample (PMMA thin film). The reduced real area of contact projected by the surfaces was the main reason for their enhanced friction property.

Fabrication of the Acceleration Sensor Body of Glass by Powder Blasting (미립분사가공을 이용한 유리 소재의 가속도 센서 구조물 성형)

  • Acceleration sensors have widely been used in the various fields of industry. In recent years, micromachining accelerometers have been developed and commercialized by the micromachining technique or MEMS technique. Typical structure of such sensors consist of a cantilever beam and a vibrating mass fabricated on Si wafers using etching. This study investigates the feasibility of powder blasting technique for microfabrication of sensor structures made of the pyrex glass alternating the existing Si based acceleration sensor. First, as preliminary experiment, effect of blasting pressure, mass flow rate of abrasive and no. of nozzle scanning on erosion depth of pyrex and soda lime glass is studied. Then the optimal blasting conditions are chosen for pyrex sensor. Structure dimensions of designed glass sensor are 2.9mm and 0.7mm for the cantilever beam length and width and 1.7mm for the side of square mass. Mask material is from aluminium sheet of 0.5mm in thickness. Machining results showed that tolerance errors of basic dimensions of glass sensor ranged from 3um in minimum to 20um in maximum. This results imply the powder blasting can be applied for micromachining of glass acceleration sensors alternating the exiting Si based sensors.

Characterization of CIGS Solar Cell for Flexible Steel Substrate by Surface Roughness (유연 철강기판 표면조도에 따른 CIGS 태양전지의 특성 분석)

  • CIS(CuInSe2)계 화합물 태양전지는 높은 광흡수계수와 열적 안정성으로 고효율 태양전지 제조가 가능하여 태양전지용 광흡수층으로 매우 이상적이다. 미국 NREL에서는 이러한 CIGS 태양전지를 Co-evaporation 방법으로 제조 20%이상의 에너지 변환 효율을 달성하였다고 보고하였다. CIGS 태양전지의 경우 기존의 유리 기판 대신 유연한 철강 기판을 사용해 태양 전지를 flexible하게 제조 할 수 있다는 장점이 있다. 이러한 flexible 태양전지의 경우 기존의 rigid 태양전지의 적용분야 뿐만 아니라 BIPV, 선박, 장난감, 군용, 자동차등 더욱 더 많은 분야에 활용이 가능하다. 본 연구에서는 기존의 rigid한 기판인 soda lime glass와 flexible 기판인 stainless steel 기판으로 소자를 제조하여 효율을 비교 분석 및 stainless steel 기판의 표면 처리 방법에 따라서 표면 조도의 특성을 분석하여 stainless steel 기판별 효율 특성도 비교 분석 하였다. 후면전극으로는 약 $1{\mu}m$의 Mo를 DC Sputtering 방법을 이용하여 증착하였고, CIGS 광흡수층은 약 $2.5{\mu}m$의 두께로 미국의 NREL과 같은 3 stage 방식을 이용하여 광흡수층을 Co-Evaporation 방법으로 제조하였고, 버퍼층인CdS는 약 50nm의 두께로 CBD 방법으로 제조 하였으며, 창층인 ZnO는 약 500nm 두께로 RF Sputtering 방법으로 제조 하였고, 마지막으로 약 $1{\mu}m$ 두께의 Al 전면전극은 Thermal Evaporation 방법으로 제조 하였다. 소자의 물리적, 전기적 특성을 분석하기위해 FE-SEM, AFM, Solar Cell Simulator 분석을 실시하였다.

반응성 스퍼터의 Se Cracker Reservoir Zone 온도에 따른 특성분석

  • $Cu(In_{1-x}Ga_x)Se_2$(CIGS) 박막 태양전지는 Chalcopyrite 계 박막 태양전지로 Cu, In, Ga, Se 각 원소의 조성을 적절히 조절하여 박막을 성장시킨다. 성장시킨 CIGS 박막은 광흡수계수가 $10^5cm^{-1}$로 다른 물질보다 뛰어나고 직접 천이형 반도체로서 얇은 두께로도 고효율의 박막 제작이 가능하다. CIGS 태양전지를 제조하는 방법은 3-stage 동시 증착법, 금속 전구체의 셀렌화 공정법, 전기 증착법 등이 있다. 그 중에 금속 전구체의 셀렌화 공정법은 다른 제조 방법에 비해 대면적 생산에 유리한 장점이 있다. 하지만 아직 상대적으로 3-stage 동시 증착법에 비해 낮은 에너지 변환 효율이 보고된다. 본 실험에서는 기존의 금속 전구체의 셀렌화 공정법과는 달리 전구체 증착과 셀렌화 공정을 동시에 하고, Se cracker를 통하여 Se 원료를 주입하는 방식인 반응성 스퍼터링 공정에서 reservoir zone의 온도 변화에 따른 특성을 분석하였다. Se cracker의 reservoir zone 온도가 증가할수록 Cu/(In+Ga) 비가 증가한다. CIGS 박막 태양전지의 구조는 Al/Ni/ITO/i-ZnO/CdS/CIGS/Mo/Soda lime glass이다. CIGS 박막의 조성비가 Cu/(In+Ga)=0.89, Ga/(In+Ga)=0.17인 박막 태양전지에서 개방전압 0.34 V, 단락전류밀도 $32.61mA/cm^2$, 충실도 56.2% 그리고 변환 효율 6.19%를 얻었다. 본 연구는 2011년도 지식경제부의 재원으로 한국에너지 기술평가원(KTEP)의 지원을 받아 수행한 연구 과제입니다(No.20093020010030).
