  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate factors that influence married female immigrants' perceived health status. Methods: This study was a retrospective review of dataset from the 2012 National Multicultural Family Survey in Korea. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, an analysis of variance (ANOVA), Pearson correlation analysis, and multiple regression with the data of 3,014 married female immigrants. Results: Multiple regression analysis showed that demographic factors (age, education level, nationality, period of residency in Korea, and residential area), socio-economical factors (monthly family income, employment, support from the government for basic living, and Medicaid), social support factors (marital conflict, satisfaction with family relationships, some one to talk about self or family matters, meeting with homeland friend, and participation in community meeting), and immigration factors (life satisfaction, experience of social discrimination, and difficulties with living and using medical care) were associated with perceived health status. Conclusion: It is important to pay closer attention to immigrant women who have low economic status, less social support, experience difficulties with living in Korea and using medical care. An effective support system for this population should be developed in order to help them successfully transition.

  • The subjective health status of adolescence reflects one's overall socio-emotional function and is an important factor in determining the health-related quality of life during this period. This study was to identify the correlation between subjective health status and health equity of adolescents. Data from the 16th online survey of youth health behavior (2020) was used to analyze 39,987 adolescents. Health equity was used as indicator for residential areas, economic conditions perceived by students, household abundance, family type, and parental education. Subjective health status was classified as a healthy group("very healthy", "healthy") and unhealthy group("normal", "unhealthy", and "very unhealthy") in response to the question "how do you think your health is usually?" The data were analyzed using complex sample analysis by using SPSS/Win 22.0. Significant factors related to the subjective health status of subjects were the area of residence (OR=0.86, p=.031), economic level (OR=1.33-2.09, p<.001), and family type (OR=1.24, p=.033). The economic level perceived by adolescents was the most important variable related to the subjective health status of adolescents, and adolescents from multicultural families often perceived their health as unhealthy compared to adolescents from general families. Therefore, there is a need for continuous interest in adolescents with low economic levels and adolescents from multicultural families and specific strategies to improve their health status.

  • This paper has two purposes. the one was to find empirical patterns of rural and urban elderly's leisure activities, and the other was to test the effects of elderly's leisure activities on life satisfaction. the data were collected for 319 respondents aged over 50s who resided in Jeonbuk rural and urban areas. Through exploratory factor analysis, we found ten patterns of leisure activities. In addition, we conducted multiple regression analysis to test net effects of those leisure activities on life satisfaction. the results indicate that even no one pattern of leisure activities significantly influences the elderly's life satisfaction, controlling for social correlates (consisted of social structural, family relationship, personality, and socio-economic demographic variables). Rather, the respondent's level of health, level of economic status, and positive relationship with adult children have significant net effects on respondent's life satisfaction. This result suggests that the positive relationship between leisure activities and life satisfaction in the existing empirical studies might be spurious. We recommend that the further studies should conduct survey and analyze the data for affluent elderly residing in more urbanized areas.

Results: The results of this study were as follows: The self-esteem was significantly different in academic grades, father's education level and economic status in adolescents. The relation of the variables to self-esteem by the statistical power in order was depression, peer attachment and parental attachment. The more the subjects were depressed, the more self-esteem dropped. The better parental and peer attachment, and household socio-economic status, the higher self-esteem was. Stepwise multiple regression analysis showed the level of parental and peer attachment and depression, which explained 38% of the total variance in self-esteem. These results will affect the various activities of adolescent. Therefore, the way in which adolescents can improve their self-esteem should be found.

This study employed children's self-perceived competence scales(The Pictorial scales for 5, 7, Qestionnaire for 9, 11, 13) home environment scales and peer group enviornment scales(the Pictorial scales for 5, 7 Qestionnaire for 9, 11, 13) Freqencies one way-ANOVA Pearson's Cronbach's αmultiple regression and path analysis were used for data-analysis. Major findings were as follows: 1. The results of the analysis of causal model showed that the variables that affected cognitive self-perceived competence directly were age, sex, parent's education economic status of the home the number of brother and peer's emotional support 2. The results of the analysis of causal model showed that the variables that affected social self-perceived competence directly were sex, economic status of the home, peer's emotional support and common activity. 3. • The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediating effects of parental neglect on the relationship between family environment, such as economic status and harmony of family and contact with harmful environments. The data came from the 2009 Korean Survey on the Rights of Youth (N = 6,601). The data was analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling by means of SPSS 17.0 and AMOS 7.0. Bootstrap method used to test significant mediating effects. We found that family environment influences an adolescent's contact with harmful environments through parental neglect, showing that family environment has both indirect and direct effects. The results suggested that a family with low socio-economic status and more stress than harmony engenders a negative effect on the behavior of parents providing care and affection. This neglect influences the adolescent's contact with harmful environments such as harmful media and facilities. It must be acknowledged that parental care and suitable affection play a minimal role in adolescent's contact with harmful environments.

  • Cancer of the uterine cervix is a worldwide menace taking innumerable womens' lives. The literature is vast and a large number of studies have been conducted in this field. Analyses have shown significant differences exist in terms of screening and HPV testing facilities among high income and low to middle income countries. In addition, acute lack of awareness and knowledge among the concerned population is particularly noted in rural areas of the low income countries. A detailed review of Indian case studies revealed that early age of marriage and childbirth, multiparity, poor personal hygiene and low socio-economic status among others are the principal risk factors for this disease. This review concludes that a two pronged strategy involving strong government and NGO action is necessary to minimize the occurrence of cervical cancer especially in low and medium income countries.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze how future images are embodied in contemporary fashion design. To find out future images expressed in contemporary fashion design, this paper characterized the future society as information society, network society, pluralistic society, and global village. Cyber design and techno-style expressed through metal or lustrous material which is influenced by information symbolize future image. Also, minimalism which is characterized as simplicity and purity affects the contemporary fashion design. The network society which affets t the horizontal and functional social system diminishes the meaning of socio-economic status. Therefore, street fashion has diffused to high fashion, and the formal wear has tendency to be changed into casual wear. In addition, the meaning of status symbol in contemporary fashion design become decreased. The pluralistic society affects to search for one's own personality and identity. Also, contemporary fashion design is influenced by post-modernism and deconstructionism. In order words, genderless, ageles, seasonless, and infra fashion appeared. The global village emphasizes extension of universality in life style and search for world quality. so, ethnic fashions appear frequently in contemporary fashion design.
