This study empirically analyzed the effect of media literacy on the formation of the smart divide, which is a multi-faceted digital divide that occurs in the context of the use of smart devices. As a result, most of the factors of media literacy affect the establishment of social relations and social network through the use of smart devices, which, in turn, leads to the expansion of the range of informational and social activities. In addition, media literacy has a significant effect on the competence to evaluate the value of information acquired through the use of smart devices. Based on these results, there can be social disparity between those who have secured media literacy and those who do not from the perspective of informational and social benefits through the use of smart devices, which can function as a mechanism to generate the smart divide.
The political reformation in Indonesia is a determinant factor of the change in political communications and the roles of media. Currently, the political elites need media support, since it contextually has a significant role. Whoever has a good relationship with the media, will be loved by the public. On the other hand, the media also have a vested interest in the elite in running businesses and building the power of industry. Policies and capital pose a challenge to maintaining the continuity of the media. Independence and control of media are at stake, when the interests of the media and the elite collaborate with each other and then build a benefit on both sides. Meanwhile, the role of social media also cannot be neglected. The Indonesian political communication system is characterized by the presence of social media in a pseudo-relationship between the elite and the public. This paper tries to explain the growing trends of research in the academic environment and the research trends in political practice in Indonesia after the occurrence of post-reformation era in legislative and executive elections. The method used is the meta-analysis of research outcomes of university (dissertations) and secondary data sources. Data processing is done by meta-analysis of secondary data. The results of meta-analysis research indicate that, the objective conditions, in Indonesia, especially the political conditions, stimulate new spaces in communication research. The study of political communication becomes dominant in the academic environment. In addition, communication research is also characterized by a shift from the linear perspective (positivistic paradigm) to the interactive perspective (naturalistic paradigm). On the other hand, the development of politic and governance situations in Indonesia has prompted the establishment of polling agencies that help citizens understand the maps of political power and candidates in general elections and regional head elections.
The purpose of our this research, based on the Media Selection Theory, the Technology Acceptance Model, and the Social Influence Theory, is to investigate the influential factors that affect media selection in banking transactions. Analyses showed that for location sensitive bank window's and ATMs (automatic teller machines), defined as offline-based transaction channels, convenience was the variable affecting media selection. However, in the case of online media not related to location, (phone banking, internet banking, and mobile banking) reliability was the significant variable influencing use. The findings show that banking organizations may benefit from identifying traits of media affecting use, and should differentiate customer services for competitive advantage.
Purpose Facebook is a social network service that has the highest number of Monthly Active Users around the world. Hence, marketers have selected Facebook as the most important platform to get customer engagement. With respect to the customer engagement enhancement, the most popular and engaging post type in the Facebook brand fan pages related to what was usually classified as 'sweepstakes'. Sweepstakes refer to a form of gambling where the entire prize may be awarded to the winner. Which makes customers more engaged with the brand. This study aims to explore sweepstakes-oriented social media marketing approaches based on the application of big data analytics. Design/methodology/approach we collect sweepstakes data from each company based on the data crawling from the Facebook brand fan pages. The output of this study explains how companies in each category of FCB grid can design and apply sweepstakes for their social media marketing. Findings The results show that they have one thing in common across the four quadrants of FCB grid. Regardless of the quadrants, most frequently observed type is 'Simple/Quiz or Comments/Quatrains [event type of sweepstakes] + Gifticon [type of reward prize] + Image [type of message display] + No URL [Link toother website] +Single-Gift-Offer [type of reward prize payment]'. So, if the position of the brand is hard to be defined by the FCB grid model, then this general rule can be applied to all types of brands. Also some differences between the quadrants of the FCB grid were observed. This study offers several research implications by analyzing Sweepstakes-oriented social media marketing approaches in Facebook brand fan pages. By using the FCB grid model, this study provides guidance on how companies can design their sweepstakes-oriented social media marketing approaches in the context of Facebook brand fan pages by considering their context.
Purpose: This scoping review investigated the content and quality of YouTube videos on women's health. Methods: A literature search of the Cochrane Library, PubMed, Embase, CINAHL, ERIC, and RISS databases was performed using the keywords "('youtube'/exp OR youtube OR 'social media'/exp OR 'social media' OR (('social'/exp OR social) AND ('media'/exp OR media))) AND ('female health care' OR (('female'/exp OR female) AND ('health'/exp OR health) AND ('care'/exp OR care)))" from February 21 to 27, 2023. Peer-reviewed analytic studies in English or Korean that focused on women's health using YouTube were included. Results: The review identified 21 articles that covered various themes related to women's health, such as breast cancer, urinary disease, sexual health, pelvic organ prolapse, the human papillomavirus vaccine, Papanikolaou smears, contraception, women's health information during the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic, obstetric epidural anesthesia, and placenta accreta. However, the overall quality of the content was low, inaccurate, unreliable, and misleading. Conclusion: This scoping review demonstrated that YouTube videos on women's health covered diverse topics, but the quality of the content needed improvement. More reliable and high-quality videos produced by academic institutes and healthcare professionals specializing in women's health are needed for social media to be usable as a reliable source of women's health information. The high number of views and shares received by the videos underscores the importance of providing accurate and reliable information on women's health.

This study endeavors to answer four research questions: (a) Who are the celebrities? (b) How popular are they? (c) What do they post on social media platforms? (d) How do their followers react to them? Following quantitative methods, this study analyzes the top 195 Facebook celebrities of Bangladesh and their 9,441 Facebook posts' interactions. The result suggests that actors, music-related celebrities, and sports stars are the most popular celebrities. While male celebrities have a higher frequency, female celebrities have higher average followers than their male counterparts. Celebrities mostly share photos on Facebook, perhaps to recreate their public images and provide regular updates to their followers. The followers also engage the most in photos with affection and surprise reactions. Their reactions to celebrities' Facebook content are highly positive. Some strengths and limitations of this study are also discussed.
Multiple modes of communication on social media can contribute to public diplomacy in informing, conversing, and networking with members of foreign publics. However, manipulative behaviours on social media, prevalent especially in high tension contexts, create disruptions to authentic communication in what could be grey/black propaganda or information warfare. This study reviews existing literature about models of public diplomacy to guide an empirical study of China's communication in the #SouthChinaSea conversation on Twitter. It uses computational methods to identify, record, and analyze one-way, two-way, and network communication of China's actors. It employs manual qualitative research to determine the nature of China's actors. On that basis, it assesses China's Twitter communication in the issue against various models of public diplomacy.

This study used social discourse analysis and analyzed social discourse on library reflected in media, social media, interview and diary of persons concerned, particularly focusing on controversy over whether 'The Forest of Wisdom' should be called a 'library'. The study analyzed a three-dimensional framework, including media report that eventually developed a social 'discourse event', social media surrounding this issue, and interview with persons in the library community and publishing industry regarding discourse. This study draws a conclusion that 'The Forest of Wisdom' rather led social discourse over the role of library especially when traditional library is faced with new demands for discourse and changes. It is meaningful in that this issue provided an opportunity for library and the publishing industry to think over and develop ways for autonomous discourse that seeks their true value.

This study attempts to explain how communication technology impacts global creative trends. We explore global creative trends based on award-winning creative topics presented at the 2016 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. After analyzing award-winning topics, five main creative trends were selected with the keywords: technology, story-telling, social media, causes, and humor. The 2016 Cannes Lions Festival demonstrated that technology (i.e., virtual reality, artificial intelligence) has expanded the limits of creativity. Story-telling is still considered to be effective for raising audience attention. Social media enhances consumer engagement while nurturing future consumer relationships. Supporting social causes allows companies to garner goodwill from the public. Humor is powerful when it appropriately appeals to both products and customers.
