A Study on the Characteristics of Body Architecture as Social Structures Expressed in the Modern Fashion (현대 패션에 표현된 사회 구조물로서 신체 건축의 특성 연구)

  • The relationships between fashion and architecture have been interactive. Since the fashion has had the role to decide the structure type of urban environment, it is becoming the new sign of space boundary. This study searches the social and cultural characteristics of Nomadism and the relationships among all kinds of changing objects. After then, the module system characteristics are meditated by analyzing the composition method of module system in architecture. Moreover, the study examines the aesthetic values in the fashion and body architecture from artistic aspect. Based on the above discussion, the followings are the characteristics of body architecture as the social structures expressed in modern fashion. The liquidity is the fluid form of dynamic structures. It shows the extended space form which produces the continuity. The transformation is the variable structure by module system and it forms the diversified structural combination. The movement combines the controlling function to be able to regulate and move freely the body related objects. The convergence is the text combination interpenetrated mutually in enlarged space. Through this, the non-linear continuity and the access of the individual factors are shown.

Development of Consumer Education Program As Social Education Program II: Needs Analysis on Program Contents and Program Management (사회교육으로서의 소비자교육프로그램 개발 II: 프로그램내용 및 운용방법에 대한 요구도 분석)

  • The study was the second part of the research on development of consumer education program as social education program. The purpose of this study was to analyze needs fur program contents. Program contents had two parts: educational program contents and program managements. The data used contained 617 married women living in Seoul, Korea. Using SAS-PC program, Chi-square and Anova Analyses were executed. The results showed that married women had higher educational needs on housing purchase, tax avoidance, cancellation of contracts after purchase, consumer redress, etc. The differences in age, education, householder's occupation, and household income level resulted in the differences in educational needs for some specific educational items. They were likely to be educated at the highly accessible place such as women's center, community center, University extension service center, and consumer organization, etc. Also they preferred to be educated once a week fur a short time period like one to three months, and to have the lectures with discussion in the class. Some implications were mentioned for developing consumer education program as social education.

Roles for Public Education in Mental Health Promotion, Prevention of Mental Illness and Treatment of Mental Disorders in Canada

  • Objectives: The purpose of this paper is to describe the role for public education in mental health promotion, prevention of mental illness and treatment of mental disorders in Canada. Results: A brief history of the changing nature of the way we treat mental disorders in Canada argues for an increasingly critical role for public education. Furthermore, the new understanding of the role of social determinants in prevention of mental illness again necessitates a vital role for public education as the shift in focus moves from exclusively individual-focused health care treatments to creating supportive environments. The roles for mental health public education then become: advocacy for the social determinants of health approach, better understanding of the nature of mental health problems, useful information for self-management, and more knowledge about appropriate treatments. A brief discussion of the structure of the response in Canada provides an overview of national and provincial responsibilities in mental health care with a case study highlighting one community's response to addressing mental disorders. Conclusion : Finally, challenges regarding the most effective educators and the issue of professional expertise embedded in the status quo are discussed.

Strength in Numbers and Voice: An Assessment of the Networking Capacity of Chinese ENGOs

  • Under authoritarian regimes, citizen-led NGOs such as environmental NGOs (ENGOs) often operate under close scrutiny of the government. While this presents a challenge to a single ENGO, we propose here - in line with existing research on network effects - that there are opportunities for multiple ENGOs to coordinate and thus work in ways that supersede government controls, affect public opinion, and contribute to policy revision and/or creation. In this paper, we specifically examine the possibility that the gamut of citizen-based ENGOs in China are coordinating. Based on network analysis of ENGOs web pages as well as interviews with more than a dozen ENGO leaders between 2014 and 2016, we find that ENGOs have few direct and public connections to each other, but social media sites and personal connections offline provide a crucial function in creating bridges. A closer examination of these bridges reveals, however, that they can be substantive to the environmental discussion or functional to the dissemination of web page information but typically not both. In short, ENGOs in China are not directly connected but rather are connected in a way that responds to the available social media and the government's censorship practices.

The EU's Public Diplomacy in Asia and the World through Social Media: Sentiment and Semantic Network Analyses of Official Facebook Pages of European External Action Service and EU Delegation to the Republic of Korea

  • This study aims to assess the quality of the EU's public diplomacy efforts through social media. Specifically, this research explores the headquarters of European public diplomacy (European External Action Service, EEAS) and its subordinate agent (EU Delegation to South Korea, EUDK). The main research question is "how coherently and effectively does the EU execute public diplomacy strategies in the third countries?'' This study employs both quantitative and qualitative approaches―the former for the results presentation and the latter for the results interpretation. The results are summarized in two points. First, both the EEAS and the EUDK maintained an objective position by posting only neutral perspectives on their social media. Second, the narratives of the main actors were the same, but the main themes were different according to their contexts. The analysis discusses the effectiveness of the EU's strategic narratives by focusing on measuring message reception. Its limited findings were that social media postings could not induce the audiences' active discussion of the EU's diplomatic performances. The conclusion suggests that the EU should identify the expectations from its global counterparts and use these to forge the Union's strategic narratives.

  • To overcome current hardship during recent years of university reform, statistics departments of Korean universities should form a new shape with efficient strategies: First, they should value interdisciplinary and open education to foster scientific generalists rather than specialists (Bode.Mosteller.Tukey.Winsor, 1949). Second, they should work out on developing curriculum and improving educational quality for non-statistics majors (Ahn.Cho.Huh, 1994). The service market is widely open and its value is certainly worthy. Third, they may change their department name from "statistics", of which the social image is not quite right, to "data science" or "data information". Statistics is a field of learning on data methodology (Friedman, 1997). methodology (Friedman, 1997).

  • The purposed of this study was to reconceptualize home economics by focusing the concept of 'Family life welfare' which pursue the improvement of family life through making the home resourceful and developing the community. The reconceptualization of home economics as family life welfare could solve the problem identification and professionalization which home economics lack of. It also would contribute to the extension of an arena and activation of the Discussion no the family life by criticizing several approaches based on functionalism Finally the utilization of home economics major in public affair means the advancement of women's social participation.

Discussion and Proposal for Meta-Analysis Papers of Social Welfare Field (사회복지분야의 메타분석 논문에 대한 고찰과 제안)

  • The purpose of this study was to discuss the papers of social welfare field that were published in Korea, from a research methodology aspect in accordance with the meta-analysis reporting standard proposed by the United States Psychological Association. To this end, an analysis was conducted according to 5 types of conformity (title and abstract, introduction, methods, results and discussion) on the target subjects of 26 meta-analysis papers of social welfare field. The analysis results showed, first, the conformity in the title and abstract showed good results except for the suggested topics for meta-analysis methods. Second, in terms of the conformity of the introduction, the descriptions seemed to be good in a number of items. Third, for the conformity in the methods, the overall reporting standard was seen to be lacking and, in particular, the reporting standard for the coding procedure was seen as being very deficient. Fourth, the conformity in the results showed that the assessment of research quality and the magnitude of efficacy for each individual study, sample size, and the contents of the provided tables, summary of tables and graphs, including the study results, were not being properly reported. Fifth, the conformity in discussions was seen to be generally sound. Based on such results, by providing a reporting standard and perspective needed for ensuring feasibility that can be used to assess meta-analysis study materials, this study was aimed at presenting implications for the academic advancement of field of social welfare.

Exploring the Possibilities of Educational Use of Social Curation Service Using the FGI Analysis (FGI분석을 통한 소셜 큐레이션 서비스의 교육적 활용 가능성 탐색)

  • This study was conducted to explore the possibilities of educational use of social curation service, which is the third-generation social networking service called the "matters of interest type." To this end, the study selected nine college students, then have them use social curation service for about 50 days, and analyzed their responses by performing the focus group interview (FGI). As a result of the analysis, social curation service was found to have strong points, including collection of various types of information, classification and summary through creation of my own category, possibility of constant updating of matters of interest, and reduction of relative deprivation compared to existing social networking services. To solve these issues, constant promotion was needed. From the aspect of educational use, it was found that social curation service had possibilities for individuals and teams: For individuals, the service enabled voluntary search and use of information, configuration of my own data, and facilitation of self-directed learning. For teams, it enabled discussion and presentation activities through sharing.

Social Bookmarking Use in University Courses: Student Perceptions and Behaviors (대학 수업에서 소셜 북마킹의 활용: 학생 인식 및 행태를 중심으로)

  • This exploratory study describes the social bookmarking perceptions and behaviors of students in university courses. Although an emerging discussion regarding the value of social bookmarking tools exists, how users adopt tools in practice is not well known. Students were asked to utilize the bookmarking tool del.icio.us to store information relating to course projects. They were also asked to comment how they employed del.icio.us for course projects. The study analyzed student perceptions and behaviors when using social bookmarking tools for university coursework. The study noted that the use of tags, notes, and networking within these social bookmarking tools remained less active and social bookmarking services in Web 2.0 as shared collaboration, shared communities, and vertical search were less present. Utilizing social bookmarking tools to facilitate personal information management includes the activities of information use, information re-use, and mobility.
