For example, bluetooth low energy (BLE) beacons are wireless radio transmitters that can send an identifier to nearby receivers and trigger a number of applications, from proximity marketing to indoor location-based service. iBeacon technology which is one of the newest technologies in the smart tourism field, is reckoned as being very useful for travelers in enhancing the experience with visiting places. However, there is consequently not much existing research yet about the connection between iBeacon technology and tourism destination. Considering that, this study analyzes the adoption of iBeacon in tourism destination, this study examine the interrelationships and feedback structures of key factors in iBeacon adoption. To serve the purpose, this study used system dynamics approach to develop a model of iBeacon adoption in tourism destination. The analysis results showed that the concept of 'Social Influences' is one of the significant predictors for individual's intention behavior to accept iBeacon, and word of mouth (WOM), subjective norm, privacy concern, and perceived usefulness are key factors influencing the iBeacon adoption.

  • Elderly entrepreneurship is becoming increasingly important as a response to the impact of the aging population and the resulting demand on government support systems, as well as a means of ensuring long-term economic and social development. The purpose of this study is to investigate the elderly's entrepreneurial intentions in the hotel and tourism sector in Ma'anshan City, Eastern China. The researcher used an online survey of older people aged 50 to 64 in a tourism destination that is approaching an aging society stage to see if the Theory of Planned Behavior can explain the entrepreneurial ambitions of the elderly in the hospitality and tourism industry. There were 391 questionnaires gathered in all, 367 of which were valid. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics and regression analysis. The study reveals that personal attitudes toward entrepreneurial behavior and perceived behavior control are highly influenced by societal norms. It also shows that personal attitude and perceived behavior control are antecedents of the elderly's entrepreneurial intent in this particular industry. This research adds to the research on geriatric entrepreneurship in hospitality and tourism, as well as human resource development for seniors in China, helping to alleviate the country's aging demographic concerns.

At present, the tourism industry is experiencing a new stage in its digital transformation. The newest technologies, which are now spreading en masse and one of which is rightfully considered to be blockchain technology, enable tourists to receive tourist services directly from the producers, which not only gives the consumer the opportunity to enjoy higher quality and inexpensive products but also increases the responsibility of the producer. The article analyzes research literature on the possibility of using blockchain technology in the tourism industry. Based on an expert survey, the main problems, prospects, and advantages of the implementation of blockchain technology in the tourism industry are identified. The paper proposes and analyzes an option for the use of blockchain technology on the basis of a blockchain project with a mobile app for users and a dedicated website and public API for travel service providers.

  • Electronic word-of-mouth (eWOM) in social media has been recognized as one of the most influential marketing tools across various businesses. Understanding eWOM in social media is critical to reach potential global consumers easily and quickly in the hospitality industry. However, few empirical studies in hospitality attempted to evaluate the effectiveness of eWOM in social media from a global perspective. Given the competitive climate of the hospitality market, it is meaningful for hospitality marketers to evaluate the effectiveness of eWOM in social media and the influence of cultural factors to promote customers and increase profitability globally. The main purpose of this study was to examine the influence of cultural values on social media eWOM in the hospitality industry in China, Korea, and the USA. The result of this study indicates Chinese and American people engage more than Korean people when they try to purchase hospitality product and service This study particularly provided a cross-cultural study of comparison among these countries and the findings of this study are expected to provide important practical assistance for global marketing strategies in social media.
