The purpose of this study was to investigate the selected predictors of the health promotion behavior of the elderly in Kangseo-ku, Kangnam-ku, Seoul. The study used an ecological perspective approach in that a microsystem (i.e. self-esteem, locus of control, introversion-extraversion and socio-demographic characteristics), and the environment such as a mesosystem (i.e. marriage satisfaction) and a macrosystem (i.e. social support, participation of social activities, social image of the elderly, social attitude of the elderly) were explored. A structured questionnaire was used to interview a sample of 188 elderly. Hierarchicai regression analysis yielded the results that the magnitude of the importance of the microsystem was found to be larger than any other systems investigated. The most powerful predictor of the health promotion behavior of the elderly was 'age', followed by 'participation of social activities', 'education', 'social support', 'locus of control', 'marriage satisfaction', and 'sex'. The research model accounted for $55\%$ of the health promotion behavior of the elderly.

This study explored the essential meanings of experiences that married immigrant women living in rural communities have in their community participation process and analyzed the situations and types of their community participation in order to support immigration women's community participation and develop strategies for social welfare by type of community participation. For these purpose, we analyzed story outlines, meanings, types and situations of community participation among married immigrant women who had been over 5 years since their immigration. According to the results of this study, the meaning of married immigrant women's community participation was "Recognize myself as the pioneer of my life and participate in social activities continuously." In the results of analyzing the types of participation, the subjects were classified into 'self directed growth type,' 'self content type,' and 'social support expectation type.' The results of this study are expected to be helpful to understand the life of married immigrant women in rural areas not as 'individuals' otherized in a foreign country but as 'participants' of community that are encountered naturally in daily life, and to develop community level services suitable for such women.

According to the rapid technological development such as ubiquitous environments, there has been growing interest in learning with social media as known as social learning. This study was conducted to analyze various participation types of social media contents aiming to explore strategies for facilitating learning. Specifically, the research model was established by two aspects in using social media contents. First was classified by writings and readings in contents, which consists of prosumers, producers, consumers, and non-participants. Second criterion was categorized by instruction-related and instruction-nonrelated, which is learning contents, learning management, emotional expression, and social activities. In order to acquire empirical data, a set of fourteen undergraduate students participated in this research for eight weeks using a microblog. Based on the analyses on the data through learning activities, three learning strategies were suggested to facilitate social media based learning: analysis on learners, role of the instructor, and instructional model design.

In recent years, social media that has emerged with the development of network technology has changed the channels of information dissemination. The social Q&A community is a platform for knowledge-sharing activities in a question-and-answer manner based on Web 2.0. In knowledge-sharing activities, valuable new knowledge continues to be produced and will surely bring great benefits to individuals or businesses. In the social Q&A community, the user's subjective factors play a crucial role in influencing the user's continued use and participation in knowledge-sharing activities. In order for users to actively participate in knowledge-sharing activities in the community, it needs to grasp their subjective ideas. This study explores the issue of sharing knowledge by users of the social Q&A community "Zhihu", or how to drive community revitalization efforts from these. The three factors self-efficacy, self-development motivation, and social comparison tendencies were derived, and identify their relationship with knowledge-sharing activities and community-boosting efforts through empirical analysis. In addition, the influence of knowledge acquisition on knowledge provision was investigated through sense of reciprocity. Implications of the study findings and the future research directions were also discussed.

The principle objective of this study is to determine factors affecting social participation for physically disabled people with musculoskeletal conditions (spinal cord injury, muscular dystrophy, osteogenesis imperfecta, rheumatoid arthritis) in South Korea using ICF relevant categories of the international classification index by WHO. The subjects of this study 352 people with physical disabilities, the data were collected using ICF component(body functions, body structures, activities and participation and environmental factors) and the relevant categories deprived from ICF core sets. The collected data were evaluated with descriptive analysis, ANOVA, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis. The results of this study can be summarized as follow. The mental function, Neuromusculoskeletal and movement-related functions, Genitourinary and reproductive functions, Skin and related structures, Learning and applying knowledge, General tasks and demands, and Mobility positively influenced social participation in people with musculoskeletal conditions. However individual factors and environmental factors didn't statistically significant affect on social participation. The implications of the study is to examine by ICF components of universal approach on disability study and utilized the relevant ICF categories as measurement tools.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of college education satisfaction on the employment preparation and social participation of young adults during the pandemic period. To accomplish this research purpose, the researcher used the panel data of Korea Youth Policy Institute and analyzed the eight variables related to college education satisfaction, employment preparation, and social participation. This study's sample consisted of a total of 2,941 individuals, and both structural equation modeling and multigroup structural equation modeling were applied for the analysis. The results revealed that college education satisfaction had a significantly positive influence on the employment preparation activities and social participation of young adults. In the multigroup structural equation modeling analysis, it was found that college education satisfaction had a significantly positive impact on employment preparation and social participation for women, while for men, it only significantly affected employment preparation. Furthermore, college education satisfaction did not show significant effects on the employment preparation and social participation of graduates from junior colleges, but it did have a significantly positive impact on the employment preparation activities of graduates from four-year colleges. Based on these research findings, policy and educational interventions to enhance the college education satisfaction of male students and graduates from junior colleges are required.

The objective of this study was to examine the association between participation in volunteer activities and self-esteem among adolescents. This study used data from the wave3-5(2005-2007) of Korean Youth Panel Study(KYPS). This study analyzed data of 3,449 second grade middle school students cohort. Fixed effects model using Proc GLM procedure in SAS was adopted to examine association between participation in volunteer activities and self-esteem among study participants. The results show that life satisfaction, appearance stress, relationship with parents, relationship with siblings, grades, relationship with teachers, and relationship with friends were significantly associated with self-esteem. Volunteer activities participation was associated with increased level of self-esteem.

The purpose of this study was to identify the participation in activities, emotions, and problem behaviors of elderly people residing in nursing homes. In this observational study targeting 81 elderly patients with dementia, each patient's participation in activities, emotion, and problem behaviors were observed for 4 hours per day with 20 minutes interval, which leads to 6,804 data based on 12 times a day for 7 days. According to this study, 90.1% of the participants were suffering from severe cognitive impairment. Their emotions were scored 4 out of 7. They mainly participated in activities such as sitting or lying down, which had no specific purpose, but they showed the most positive emotion when involved in social activities. The most frequent types of problem behaviors were repetitive behaviors and making noises, and the frequency of their behaviors were different depending on the time. There were significant correlation between cognitive functions, emotions, and problematic behaviors. Therefore, it is necessary to find effective ways to increase participation in activities, induce participation in positive emotional activities, and reduce problem behaviors manifested most prominently each hour of the elderly patients with dementia residing in nursing homes.

Corporates' participation in the social welfare activities in Korea was analyzed through literature reviews and empirical survey. Literature reviews on the previous studies were implemented to identify the corporates' motivations, methods, types and funding sources of social welfare activities. The empirical survey results show that 37% (83 firms) of respondents among 222 companies has participated in direct giving to the social welfare activities by various methods and types. The bigger amount of last fiscal year's sales, the more amount of gifts to social welfare activities. The average amount of gifts was \ one billion forty-six million per company in the monetary tenn which is 0.06% of the last FY's average sales of respondents. The most frequently implemented program of the corporates' social welfare activities was 'scholarship to unprivileged adolescent', while the program which the largest amount of gifts were donated was 'support for the social welfare agencies'. For the participation methods, most corporates implement social welfare program directly, and the rest of the companies take the methods of supporting the existing social welfare agencies and institutions. The cash benefit was salient for the modes of gift transfer. Funding sources for the gifts were various such as certain portion of the amount of sales, pretax-profits, or posttax profits, and even rare, independently established funds for the social welfare activities. Among them, a certain portion of the last FY's amount of sales was the dominant source of corporates' social welfare activities.

In the cases of the major cities, high poverty rate of the elderly, immature pension policies, and insufficient market conditions, policies and services for the employment of the elderly decrease the desire for the job participation. It is time to prevent the problems of the elderly, and induce the reachable seniors to participate in social activities. This research provides the location-based, customized job-search service for the elderly in order to actively support the participation in the economic activities of the elderly. The goal of SSJS(Smart Senior Job Search) is to provide the individual elderly with the customized position. It prints the appropriate positions near user location based on the residential area, job classification, and the physical condition, and provides the mash-up of the selectable job range in the unit distance based on the map. This customized service, which enables the seniors to select the type of the jobs based on their physical, mental and life conditions of the seniors, supports the participation in economic activities of the elderly people, and contribute to the expansion of the social job positions for the elderly and the equalization of the local development.
