A study on the Influence of Acculturation and Organizational Fairness on the Organizational Commitment of Foreign Labore (외국인근로자의 문화적응과 조직공정성이 조직몰입에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • A need for considering effective human resources management, in addition to the social aspect of foreign workers, has been rising as the number of foreign workers increased. This study was designed to figure out effective ways to manage foreign workers. By examining an effect of acculturation and organizational fairness on the organizational commitment of foreign laborers and moderating effects of social support, this study aims to improve their commitment, sense of belonging, and loyalty to the company. The results are as follows. Acculturation and organizational fairness has a positive effect on organizational commitment. To be specific, distribution impartiality has the strongest influence on normative commitment, and interactional justice has an effect on emotional commitment and continuous commitment the most, and a partial effect on the moderating effects of social support. Therefore, to improve productivity of foreign laborers, organizational commitment of foreign workers should be reinforced and to achieve this, acculturation and organizational fairness need to be enhanced, and there should be measures to strengthen social support for them.

  • The purposes of this study were to explore the influence on fashion brand image and brand loyalty according to fit of the fashion brand with cultural art field, motivation in culture marketing of the apparel company, and involvement of the consumers in art activities. The subjects ware 274 male and female in 20s and 30s living in Seoul and Gyeonggi area. The study was obtained through the use of an experimental design which was $2{\times}[2{\times}2]$ mixed factorial design. The summary main results were as follows. First, as far as the effect of the three variables on the social contribution image of the fashion brand, the results of the 3-way interaction are positive. Second, as far as the effect of the three variables on the product image of the fashion brand, the data suggests that only the main-effect of motivation in culture marketing of the apparel company is meaningfully positive. Third, as far as the effect of the three variables on fashion brand loyalty, both fit of the fashion brand with cultural art field and involvement of the consumers in art activities variables show positive results.

A Study on the Cultural Meaning and Background of Design (디자인의 문화적 의미와 배경에 관한 연구)

  • The wide range of understanding to the culture is very important in design practice, because all the design can't be avoided effect of different culture. Viewpoint of this, cultural meaning and background of design are studied in this paper. First of all, a few problems are suggested to the purpose and necessity of the paper. On the basis of this, three conceptual meanings of design culture are searched through studying with cultural meaning of design, design as living culture and design for human begins. Also, on the same basis, three compositive backgrounds of design culture are researched through studying with change of spatio-temporal design, search for the original design and criteria on the aesthetic design. Finally, another study is tried to find out how to understand design value and to create more valuable design which is variously existed under the different cultural background and social situation.

  • Recently general hospitals in Korea are focusing on healing environment which care for patients on the side of spirit and psychology without medical treatment. For the reason, architects are planning a public space on a large scale in which can be held cultural performances and artistic events. Those of social activities can be effective healing environment according to the "Anthroposophical medicine" studied by Rudolf Steiner. To the patient, Social healing environment is relation with normal life and back to the life. The case of a large-scale public space on hospital in foreign country shows the effect of healing environment through social community. So it is valuated as a social healing environment and community space. Even though the large-scale public space has been being increased in our circumstance, there is no evaluation of use on it. So there is no idea how people are satisfied with public space to stay and form a concourse by themselves. The purpose of this study is to find out the desire of people, who use the large-scale public space by analysis of observation research and interview in the general hospitals. And finally this study suggests the factors which can realize social healing environment on the planning of public space in hospital architecture.

The Relationship between Leisure and Social Activities, Life Satisfaction, and Happiness of the Disabled : Focusing on the Time Before and After COVID-19 (장애인의 여가사회활동, 생활만족도, 행복의 관계 :COVID-19 전후 시점을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship of the changes between leisure and social activities, life satisfaction, and happiness of the disabled according to the time before and after COVID-19, and to examine the moderating effect of living alone. For the analysis, the data of 3,773 persons from the employment panel for the disabled were used for the analysis, and as a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that the decrease in leisure and social activities further reinforced the decrease in life satisfaction, and consequently the decrease in happiness also increased. In addition, it was found that the effect of leisure social activities on life satisfaction increases according to living alone. In other words, the decrease in leisure and social activities of the disabled led to a decrease in life satisfaction and decreased happiness. Through these results, although social distancing is important, support such as online gatherings, participation in cultural and artistic activities, and education is necessary as an intervention in reducing leisure and social activities, which can be an important protective factor in the lives of the disabled. Furthermore, it was suggested that screening for mental health and intervention for persons with disabilities living alone are necessary in case management of persons with disabilities.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of participation in leisure activities on the quality of life by comparing gender and household type. Methods: Data were drawn from the 2017 Korean Elderly Survey and the participants were 7,406 people who are 65 years and above. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS (version 18.0) statistical package. Results: The result of this study revealed that participation in leisure activities has a significant effect on the quality of life of In the case of older adults who are men and live with couple, voluntary activities have a significant effect on their quality of life, while for elderly women living alone, arts & cultural activities have a significant effect on their quality of life. Conclusions: Based on these results, we suggested some implications for supporting healthy leisure activities and improving the level of quality of life among aged people.

Multicultural Family Adolescents: Their Acceptance of Korean Culture and Adaption to Korean School Life (다문화 가정 청소년의 한국문화수용성과 학교생활적응에 관한 연구)

  • The effect of an adolescent's being in a multicultural family, including the psychological, cultural, and situational characteristics of this experience, in terms of how it impacts acceptance of Korean culture, social competence, and educational adaptation was investigated. 120 multicultural family adolescents who were enrolled in Seouland Gyeonggi-do middle and high schools were surveyed. The results were analyzed by the PASW Statistics v18 program. Firstly, it was found that the psychological, cultural, and situational characteristics of multicultural family adolescents were significantly affected by family's general economic level and their mother's occupation and nationality. Secondly, multicultural family adolescents with higher self-perception, good accommodation of crosscultural attitudes in Korean culture and more relationships with Koreans tended to adapt to Korean culture more easily. Thirdly, multicultural family adolescents who adapted to Korean culture more easily could also adapt to school life well, and those who had better interpersonal relations and more advanced problem-solving skills had better relationships with school friends.

A Comparative Study on the Fashion Style of Multivocal Value Groups since 1990s

  • This study considers the fashion as an expressive object of mental value system in order to understand muitivocal value groups. Because the external behavior aspects and internal values of muitivocal value groups are getting more ambiguous in these days. This purposes of this study are as follows; first, this paper examines diversely how these groups affect modern fashion through analysis multivocal value groups after 1990s, and makes clear that various social, cultural, and economical values are important factors for changing symbolic standard connected with fashion. Second, it aims at expanding the positive recognition of the conflicts that exist among various values, and aesthetical recognition that overcome the discrepancy and such conflicts. For this aim, this paper analyzes the social and cultural aspects, aesthetic taste, life style of such groups focusing on Dink, Yiffie, Yettie, Bobos. We examine these groups' characteristics and their effect on modern fashion by categorizing them into Snob Look, Vintage Fashion, Unbalance Fashion, and Caports Look. This paper conducts the previous literature review and the practical analysis on periodical publications and Internet websites concerning fashion. Consequently, this kind of study is useful for providing a theoretical background that would explain the multilateralism in fashion, with uncertain in useful and culture, and changing the obvious confusion to another dimension of order.

Factors Influencing Business Performance of Small and Medium Enterprises: A Case Study in Sri Lanka

  • This study aims to investigate variables affecting the business performance of Muslim women entrepreneurs in Sri Lanka. A multidimensional analysis was proposed with five potentially defined antecedents of business performance which included psychological characteristics, human capital, social capital, industrial factor, and cultural factor. Data was collected from 286 respondents through the use of a self-administered questionnaire. The results of structural equation modeling indicate that the model meets the goodness-of-fit indices and that generally, all five factors have significant positive relationships with business performance. Amongst the dimensions of psychological characteristics, only risk-taking had a notable effect on business performance. Amongst the dimensions of human capital, two of the three dimensions (business experience and business skills) were significantly associated with business performance; in the case of social capital, one of the two dimensions (non-familial affiliations) was significantly associated with business performance; and in the case of industrial factor, resource accessibility was significantly associated with business performance. A strong positive correlation with business performance has also been demonstrated by the cultural factor which was a new concept to the paradigm as a whole. This study has broadened the understanding of existing literature on Muslim women entrepreneurship and contributed practical implications to government, policymakers and other related agencies, chambers of commerce, the general public, as well as the Muslim women entrepreneurs themselves.

Organizational Citizenship Behaviors of Low-Skilled Immigrant Workers under Employment Permit System: Integrating Cultural Adjustment and Social Support Perspectives (일반 고용허가제 저숙련 이주근로자들의 조직시민행동: 사회적 지원과 문화적 적응 시각의 적용)

  • The Employment Permit System (EPS), a system of bringing in low-skilled foreign workers, has been implemented since 2004 to relieve labor shortages in SMEs. Despite the increasing number of foreign workers under this system, due to lack of research we have very limited managerial understanding. Moreover, previous studies focused on economic or legal perspectives, which calls for a different perspective of business and management. In this study, we examined how to foster organizational citizenship behaviors (OCB) of low-skilled immigrant workers at the workplace by integrating two analytical frames-social support from management studies and cultural adjustment from immigrant literature. We tested our model using a sample of 661 immigrant workers from 11 countries working in Korea. Our results indicated that, social support perception triggered not only a direct effect on organizational citizenship behaviors of immigrant workers but also indirect effects via the level of cultural adaptation. Our findings indicated that two views are all meaningful in explaining OCB of immigrants, and provided practical implications to SMEs using EPS.
