  • In this paper, the study on the behavior of the deformation of brittle material, such as concrete, ceramic, was peformed by comparison of Lagrangian technique and Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics using commercial nonlinear hydrodynamic numerical program, Autodyn_2D. The effect of SPH technique was proved by investigating the behavior of material deformation, velocity profile and pressure profile.

Effects of Geometry and Operating Fluid on the Expansion Behavior of Liquid-Solid Fluidized Beds

  • Fluidized beds have been widely used in industrial applications, which in most of them, the operating fluid is non-Newtonian. In this study, the combination of the lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) and the smoothed profile method has been developed for non-Newtonian power-law fluids. The validation of the obtained model were investigated by experimental correlations. This model has been used for numerical studying of changing the operating fluid and geometrical parameters on the expansion behavior in liquid-solid beds with both Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids. Investigations were performed for seven different geometries, one Newtonian, and two non-Newtonian fluids. The power-law index was in the range of 0.8 to 1, and the results for the Newtonian fluidized beds show more porosity than the non-Newtonian ones. Furthermore, increasing the power-law index resulted in enhancing the bed porosity. On the other hand, bed porosity was decreased by increasing the initial bed height and the density of the solid particles. Finally, the porosity ratio in the bed was decreased by increasing the solid particle diameter.

  • This article proposes a smooth path generation and time scheduling method for general tasks defined by non-smooth path segments in industrial robotic applications. This method utilizes a simple 3rd order polynomial function for smooth interpolation between non-smooth path segments, so that entire task can effectively maintain constant line speed of operation. A predictor-corrector type numerical mapping technique, which correlates time based speed profile to the smoothed path in Cartesian space, is also provided. Finally simulation results show the feasibility of the proposed algorithm.

  • In this paper, the modification of double projection method for the adaptive analysis of Element-free Galerkin(EFG) method were proposed. As results of the double projection method, the smoothed error profile that is adequate for adaptive analysis was obtained by re-projection of error that means the differences of EFG stress and projected stress. However, it was found that the efficiency of double projection method is degraded as increase of the numerical integration order. Since, the iterative refinement to single step error estimation made the same effect as increasing of integration order, the application of the iterative refinement base on double projection method could be produced the inadequately refined analysis model. To overcome this defect, a modified scheme of double projection were proposed. In the numerical example, the results did not show degradation of double projection effect in iterative refinement and the efficiency of proposed scheme were proved.

SPH simulation of solitary wave interaction with coastal structures

  • This paper adopts the Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) open-source code SPHinXsys to study the solitary wave interaction with coastal structures. The convergence properties of the model in terms of particle size and smoothing length are tested based on the example of solitary wave propagation in a flat-bottom wave flume. After that, the solitary wave interactions with a suspended submerged flat plate and deck with girders are studied. The wave profile and velocity field near the surface of the structures, as well as the wave forces exerted onto the structures are analyzed.

  • DEM의 보급과 처리 기술의 발전으로 DEM으로부터 하천종단을 추출하는 것이 과거 어느 때보다 용이해졌다. 하지만 DEM에서 추출된 하천종단은 인위적인 평지 및 계단과 같은 문제점들도 포함하고 있기 때문에, 자연스런 하천종단을 얻어내기 위해서는 평활화 과정을 거쳐야 한다. 그러나 평활화 자체는 원본 하천종단의 변형을 필연적으로 동반하기 마련이다. 지금까지는 평활화로 인한 원자료의 변형에 대해 객관적이고 정량적인 평가가 없었다. 이에 본 연구는 주요 평활화 방법의 특성을 파악하고, 이들의 한계점을 극복하는 새로운 평활화 방법을 제안하며, 이의 유용성을 검증하였다. 본 연구는 보다 정밀한 평활화 방법을 제시할 뿐만 아니라 연구목적에 부합하는 평활화 방법을 선택하는데도 도움이 될 것이다.

  • We have investigated thermal properties showed by changing the content of carbon black which is the component parts of semiconductive shield in underground power transmission cable. Specimens were made of sheet with the nine of those for measurement. Density of specimens was measured by density meter, and then stress-strain of specimens was measured by TENSOMETER 2000. A speed of measurement was 200[mm/min], ranges of stress and strain were 400(Kgf/$cm^2$) and 600[$\%$]. In addition, tests of stress-strain were progressed by aging specimens at air oven. Finally surface profile was shown in order to looking for protrusion of specimens by using smoothness tester. Density was highly measured according to increasing the content of carbon black from this experimental result, and stress was decreased, while strain was increased according to increasing the content of carbon black. And stress-strain were decreased some after aging because of oxidation reaction of chemical defect. Lastly surface of specimens smoothed generally.

Wide-Field Near-IR Photometric Study for Spatial Distribution of Stars around Globular Clusters in the Galactic Bulge

  • Extra-tidal feature of the globular clusters such as tidal tails and halos can be a crucial evidence of the merging scenario of the Galaxy formation in the dynamical point of view. To search for such an extra-tidal feature of globular clusters located in the Galactic bulge(RGC<3kpc), we obtained wide-field near-infrared JHKs images of 6 metal-poor ([Fe/H]<-1.0) clusters and 3 metal-rich ([Fe/H]>-1.0) clusters. Observations were carried out using IRSF 1.4m telescope and SIRIUS near-infrared camera, during 2006~2007. The obtained images have a total maximum field-of-view of ~ $21'\times 21'$. To select clusters' member stars and minimize the field star contaminations, we applied CMD masking algorithm. Smoothed surface density contour maps with selected stars for each cluster show overdensity features around the tidal radius and beyond. Also, radial surface density profiles within the tidal radius of the clusters show an overdensity feature as a change of slope of the radial profile. The results add further observational constraints of the formation of the Galactic bulge.

Swash대역에서의 해빈표사 부유거동에 관한 연구 (Suspension of Sediment over Swash Zone)

  • 본 연구에서는 LDS 난류응력 모형, Van Rijn의 pick up 함수를 활용하여 일정 경사부에서의 파랑의 이행과 천수, 연이은 쇄파현상, plunging breaker에 후행하는 해저질의 역동적인 부유와 down rush와 후행 파랑에 의한 표사의 재분배를 수치모의 하였다. 이 과정에서 해저질과 소통하는 저면 유체력에 대한 quadratic law를 중심으로 한 기존의 연구 성과들은 정상상태에 기초하여 급속히 가속되고 감속되는 swash 대역의 수리특성을 반영할 수 없다는 결론에 도달하고 이러한 인식에 기초하여 새로운 산출방법이 제시되었다. 새로운 산출방법을 토대로 수치모의하여 비선형 천수과정의 일반적인 특징, 동조 비동조 고차 조화성분으로 전이된 파랑에너지로 인해 상당히 예리하고 왜도된 파형, 파형의 마루로부터 시작되는 물입자 자유낙하, 착수로 인한 커다란 물보라의 형성, 물보라 형성층의 해변으로의 이행, wave finger (Narayanaswamy와 Dalrymple, 2002), swash 대역에서 진행되는 부유사 순환과정, swash 대역에서 처오름으로 인해 부유된 부유사 무리의 off shore 방향으로의 순 이동 등이 비교적 정확히 재현되는 등 상당히 고무적인 결과를 얻을 수 있었다. 이러한 결과는 기존의 Euler 좌표계에서 정의되는 파랑모형과 이동경계 기법의 한계를 뛰어 넘는 것으로 향후 보다 정확한 침식해석이 가능 할 것으로 판단된다.
