전기 노이즈가 노후 차량에 미치는 영향 (The Influence of Electric Noise for Decrepit Vehicle)

  • The development of electronic technology has been rapidly achieved in the automotive industry. A trend that attaches electric equipment, including ECUs at vehicles, is observed. However, decrepit vehicles have several electrical noises and errors. The effect of electric noise on vehicles that are focused on smoke was investigated. Many researchers have argued that one of the reasons of the occurrence of smoke in vehicles is the inexact time of the occurrence of ignition. Moreover, various physical, chemical, and thermodynamic solutions were attempted to approach and many improvements were accomplished. However, in this study, the reduction of electrical and electronic noise is confirmed to improve the accuracy of the injection time on decrepit vehicles with electrical and electric technologies. Previous studies suggest that the distance between the pilot and main ignitions affect the occurrence of smoke and control the variance value of the distance between pilot and main ignitions with electric filter. Thus, the effect of reducing smoke occurred.

  • Although the demands for diesel engine is increased, our world is faced with very serious problems related to the air pollution due to the exhaust emissions of the diesel engine. In this study, the potential possibility of oxygenated fuel such as Methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) was investigated for the sake of exhausted smoke reduction from diesel engine. MTBE has been used as a fuel additive blended into unleaded gasoline to improve octane number, but the study of application for diesel engine was incomplete. Because MTBE includes oxygen content approximately 18%, it is a kind of oxygenated fuel that the smoke emission of MTBE is reduced remarkably compared with commercial diesel fuel, that is, it can supply oxygen component sufficiently at high load and speed in diesel engine. But, the NOx emission of MTBE blended fuel is increased compared with commercial diesel fuel. And. it was tried to analyze not only total hydrocarbon but individual hydrocarbon components from $C_1$to $C_{6}$ in exhaust gas using gas chromatography to seek the reason for remarkable reduction of smoke emission. The results of this study show three conclusions. 1. The smoke omission of the MTBE blended fuel is lower than that of the diesel fuel at all experimental region in direct injection diesel engine. 2. Individual hydrocarbons(C$_1$~ $C_{6}$) as well as total hydrocarbon of oxygenated fuel are reduced remarkably compared with diesel fuel. 3. Smoke emission from diesel engines was strongly depended on oxygen content in fuel regardless of operating condition.

가쓰오부시 훈연기 개선 및 벤조피렌 저감화 (Improvement of Katsuobushi smoking machine for the reduction of benzo(a)pyrene)

  • 훈연 가쓰오부시의 벤조피렌 저감화를 위하여 훈연기를 개선하고 이의 저감화 효과를 평가하였다. 기존 훈연기는 동일한 히터를 사용하여 연기생성 및 가열을 동시에 행하는데 비하여 개선된 훈연기는 연기생성부 및 가열부를 갖추어 연기생성과 가열이 각각 되도록 하였다. 연기생성부는 훈연실 내부에 설치된 CdS 광센서, on/off 제어기, 연소실과 훈연실 사이에 연기 공급을 개폐하는 압축구동 회전체로 구성하였다. 가열부는 훈연실 내부의 온도센서, PID 제어기, 전기히터로 구성하였다. 자숙된 가다랑어를 연기농도를 세가지 수준으로 제어하며 45도에서 훈연한 결과 108시간 경과 후 연기농도가 낮은 순으로 벤조피렌 농도가 5.87, 7.83, $11.41{\mu}g/kg$로 각각 나타났다. 연기농도를 가장 낮은 농도에서 온도를 달리하여 훈연한 결과 벤조피렌 농도가 각각 5.87, 4.82, $3.27{\mu}g/kg$로 검출되었다. 따라서 벤조피렌 저감화 조건은 낮은 연기농도와 높은 온도가 바람직함을 알 수 있었다. 기존 훈연기는 높은 온도를 사용할 경우 연기농도가 종속적으로 높아지기 때문에 저감화 조건을 만족시킬 수 없는 반면에 본 개선된 훈연기는 저감화를 구현할 수 있었다.

The Protective Effect of Ginseng and Aloe Extract against Cigarette Smoke-induced Hepatotoxicity

  • The preventive effects of ginseng and aloe extract on cigarette smoke-induced hepatotoxicity to Spague-Dawley rats were investigated. The experimental rats were exposed smoke by inhalation for 5 weeks, 3 times per day, and 15 minutes each time. Also ginseng and aloe extract (Group G+A), aloe (Group A) or ginseng (Group G) were administered to each group, but the positive control rats (Group C) were exposed smoke without any other special treatments. Group C showed decreased food intake and increased water consumption. Also the reduction of body weight and the increase in serumAST, ALT, triglyceride and alkaline phosphatase were observed. The relative liver weights of group C were increased and the hepatic parenchyma revealed light brownish red grossly. On histopathologic observation, the hepatocytes of group C animals exhibited diffuse swelling which narrowed the, sinusoidal lumen and disarrayed the hepatic cord-like arrangement. Diffuse necrosis of the hepatocytes was also observed. However, degeneration and necrosis of the hepatocytes were milder in group G+A. In the case of group A, the damage was moderate, while the group G showed marginal improvement from group C. Electronmicroscopically, peroxisome increased and mitochodria decreased in group C. Various hepatic damages related to smoking in group C revealed recovering tendency in group G+A. This study indicated that daily administration of ginseng and aloe could decrease and even prevent cigarette smokeinduced hepatotoxicity.

DI 디젤기관에서 바이오디젤유와 함산소연료(EGBE) 동시적용 및 EGR에 의한 배기배출특성 (The Characteristics of Emission on Simultaneous Application with Biodiesel, Oxygenated Fuel(EGBE) and EGR in a DI Diesel Engine)

  • In this study, the potential possibility of biodiesel fuel(BDF) and oxygenated fuel(ethylene glycolvmono-n-butyl ether; EGBE) was investigated as an effective method of decreasing the smoke emission. The smoke emission of blending fuel (BDF and EGBE 0~20 vol-%) was reduced in comparison with diesel fuel and it was reduced approximately 64% at 2000 rpm, full load in the 20% of blending rate. But torque and brake specific energy consumption( BSEC) didn't have no large differences. Also, the effects of exhaust gas recirculation(EGR) for the reduction of NOx emission has been investigated. Consequently, It was found that simultaneous reduction of smoke and NOx emission was achieved with BDF(90 vol-%) and EGBE(10 vol-%) blended fuel and cooled EGR method(5~10%).

Cold EGR 장착 디젤엔진에서의 NOx 저감에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on NOX Reduction in a Diesel Engine with Cold EGR)

  • The objective of the current research work is to investigate the usage of biodiesel combined with the use of EGR in order to reduce the emission of all regulated pollutants from diesel engines. A single cylinder, air cooled, constant speed direct injection diesel engine was used for the experimental work and a cold EGR system was developed and fitted to the engine. Concentrations of HCs, NOx, and CO from the exhaust gas along with the smoke opacity were measured. Engine performance parameters such as the brake thermal efficiency (BTE) and the brake specific energy consumption (BSEC) were also calculated from the measured data. The results from the present investigation suggest that 25-30% EGR rate could give excellent NOx reduction without any significance penalty on smoke opacity or BSEC under the engine load of up to 40%. Under the full load condition, 15% EGR rate was found to be an option while higher EGR rate resulted in inferior performance and heavy smoke.

  • Current common rail engines are equipped with cooled EGR systems by using an engine cooling water system. In this study, investigations of exhaust gas reduction characteristics have been carried out in the common rail engine system depending on the EGR rate variation. The experimental results shows that NOx reduces and smoke increases as the EGR rate increases.

2단 연소형 연소실을 갖는 디젤기관의 NO 저감에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Reduction of NO Emission from a Diesel Engine with 2-Stage Type Combustion Chamber)

  • A newly designed combustion chamber of diesel engine with a modified piston crown was prepared for the purpose of investigation for reduction of NO emission. It was intended to realize 2-stage combustion that is to keep fuel rich condition during early stage of combustion and fuel lean condition during next stage. The engine was tested on various conditions concerning exhaust gas emissions especially about NO emission and simultaneously fuel consumption rate. It was found that the engine with 2-stage combustion type piston emits significantly low NO at various speed and torque compared with conventional engines, but it raised points at issue in CO and smoke emissions with fuel consumption rate. The increasing of injection pressure on 2 stage combustion type diesel engine affects on CO and smoke emission considerably to reduce but slightly on NO to increase. The effect of 2-stage combustion was better at low speed than at high speed.

터널 내 차량 화재에 따른 연기 확산 거동에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Behaviour of Smoke Spread Caused by Vehicle Fire in a Road Tunnel)

  • 본 논문에서는 환기구의 존재, 환기구 설치 대수, 환기구 용량, 복수 화원의 존재가 도로터널에서 발생한 차량 화재에 의한 연기 온도 분포에 미치는 영향을 평가하였다. 6개의 시나리오를 가정하였으며 FDS를 이용하여 시나리오 해석을 실시하였다. 해석 결과 환기구의 설치 대수가 증가함에 따라 연기의 온도는 감소하는 것으로 나타났지만, 환기구의 설치 대수가 2대인 경우와 3대인 경우에 온도 감소 효과는 거의 같은 것으로 나타났다. 환기구의 설치 용량은 환기구의 설치 대수 보다 연기 온도 감소에 더 큰 영향을 주는 것으로 해석되었다. 환기구가 없는 시나리오 No. 1과 복수 화원을 갖는 시나리오 No. 6를 제외한 나머지 시나리오에 대해서 해석한 결과 화원 상부에서의 연기 온도는 모두 $400^{\circ}C$ 이하로 나타났는데, 이는 화원 상부 연기층에서 발생하는 복사에 의해 화원 주변 가연물의 착화가 어렵다는 것을 나타낸다.

디젤기관의 대체연료로서 미장유의 특성 연구(II) (A Study on Characteristics of Rice Bran Oil as an Alternative Fuel in Diesel Engine(II))

  • In this study, it was tried to analyze not only total hydrocarbon but individual hydrocarbon components from C$_1$to C$\sub$6/ in exhaust gas using gas chromatography to seek the reason fur remarkable differences of smoke emission of diesel fuel, esterfied rice bran oil and blended fuel(esterfied rice bran oil 20vo1-% + diesel fuel 80vo1-%). Individual hydrocarbons(C$_1$ ∼C$\sub$6/) as well as total hydrocarbon of esterfied rice bran oil is reduced remarkably compared with diesel fuel. Although smoke emission of esterfied rice bran oil reduced remarkably compared with commercial diesel fuel, NOx emission of esterfied rice bran oil and blended fuel was increased slightly at high loads and speeds. And, it was tried to reduced NOx emission of them by exhaust gas recirculation(EGR) method. Simultaneous reduction of smoke and NOx emission was achieved with the combination of esterfied rice bran oil and EGR method in consequence.
