  • This paper presents experiments on the evaluation of characteristics of ER fluids used for vibration control of application in intelligence type process control systems. Dynamic characteristics of the actuator(beam) embedded with the ER fluid can be controlled by changing the strength of the electric field applied on the ER fluids, thus provides a mean to avoid the resonance. In case electric field is supplied to the smart structure with ER fluids, vibration energy is dissipated more than the beam without electric field, because particles in ER fluid form a chain structure in the presence of electric field. The damping and stiffness of the beam with ER fluid are increased when the applied electric field increases. The characteristics of damping and stiffness of the ER fluid with various electric field strength were investigated by conducting a vibration test of the beam with ER fluid. If it applies characteristics of the ER fluids, it will be able to apply in the PLC control system for the vibration which occurs from process system.

  • This paper presents the application of a semi-active fuzzy based control system for seismic response reduction of a single degree-of-freedom (SDOF) framed structure using a Magnetorheological (MR) damper. Semi-active vibration control with MR dampers has been shown to be a viable approach to protect building structures from earthquake excitation. Moreover, intelligent damping systems based on soft-computing techniques such as fuzzy logic models have the inherent robustness to deal with typical uncertainties and non-linearities present in civil engineering structures. Thus, the proposed semi-active control system uses fuzzy logic based models to simulate the behavior of MR damper and also to develop the control algorithm that computes the required control signal to command the actuator. The results of the numerical simulations show the effectiveness of the suggested semi-active control system in reducing the response of the SDOF structure.

  • Recently Development of construction system that subjective operators share and control information efficiently based on the three-dimensional space and design information throughout life cycle of construction project is progressing dynamically. In case of civil structures which are infrastructure, Demand for structure of complex system which has multi-functions such as super and smart bridges and express rails is increasing and system development which computerizes and integrates process of structure design is in need. For that, research about link way between three dimensional modeling data and structure analysis programs should be preceded. In this research, therefore, research about interface design between three dimensional virtual modeling data to automate efficient civil-structure-design and nonlinear finite element analysis program which is made up of reinforced concrete material model that express material's character clearly.

  • Organization wishes to develop newer and more complex system according as social structure is more complex and a technology develops more. Therefore, field of system engineering in development of new system is realized by all-important essential boundary. However cost of SE have considered restrictively being not about SE cost having applied SE. About this problem, this study provides COSYSMO as model for SE cost estimation, as the application example, estimate SE cost for smart UAV system applying COSYSMO in PRICE Trueplanner.

  • In this paper, we propose a system that allows small business owners focusing on the restaurant business to easily understand the management situation, and to manage the operation and management centering on the cost of food materials and profits and losses. In general, the metadata structure is different depending on the POS system, so it is necessary to first develop a standardized metadata model for a food material cost management system for small business owners in various industries. For that reason, the system proposed in this paper was applied to the cost management app by referring to the development of a data model using the metadata standard. In addition, in order to implement a cost profit/loss management system for small business owners in the restaurant industry, it was designed to support standardized metadata models from various types of POS systems, and is a hybrid app that can support a smart environment. Interface) was configured.

  • In this paper, a novel intensity-based fiber optic vibration sensor using a mass-spring structure, which consists of four serpentine flexure springs and a rectangular aperture within a proof mass, is proposed and its feasibility test is given by the simulation and experiment. An optical collimator is used to broaden the beam which is modulated by the displacement of the rectangular aperture within the proof mass. The proposed fiber optic vibration sensor has been analyzed and designed in terms of the optical and mechanical parts. A mechanical structure has been designed using theoretical analysis, mathematical modeling, and 3D FEM (Finite Element Method) simulation. The relative aperture displacement according to the base vibration is given using FEM simulation, while the output beam power according to the relative displacement is measured by experiment. The simulated sensor sensitivity of $15.731{\mu}W/G$ and detection range of ${\pm}6.087G$ are given. By using reference signal, the output signal with 0.75% relative error shows a good stability. The proposed vibration sensor structure has the advantages of a simple structure, low cost, and multi-point sensing characteristic. It also has the potential to be made by MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical System) technology.

This is a study of dynamic characteristics of smart sensors, new method$(R_{SAI})$ has the sensing ability of distinguishing materials. Experiment and analysis are executed for finding the proper dynamic sensing condition. First, we developed advanced smart sensor. We made smart sensors for experiment. The type of smart sensor is HH type. The smart sensor was developed for recognition of material. Second, we develop new estimation methods that have a sensing ability of distinguish materials. Dynamic characteristics of sensor are evaluated through new recognition index$(R_{SAI})$ that ratio of sensing ability index. Distinguish of object is executed with $R_{SAI}$ method relatively. We can use the $R_{SAI}$ method for finding materials. Applications of this method are finding abnormal condition of object (auto-manufacturing), feeling of object(medical product), robotics, safety diagnosis of structure, etc.

  • In the past decade, many countries developed varies promising theories, methodologies and technologies for water resources management, such as Smart Water in Korea, eWater in Australia, Intelligent Water in Untied States, and Internet of Water in China. It is no exaggeration to say that Smart Water Management(SWM) will have a major role to play in addressing the global water challenges in the background of climate change, population growth and rapid urbanization. As a result, we can see major shifts taking place in the structure of the water industry, with a need for new approaches, skills, and water management policies. All these point towards a brighter future for the smart water sector and a new water paradigm, with applications and potential throughout the water cycle. However, each countries have their technology and industry standard system which may swift similar innovation and technology into different channels. In that sense, developing a common performance index and standard docking adapter for assessing Smart Water Management Initiatives(SWMI) is crucial for drawing a linkage of SWMI and SWMs to a way to implement advanced technology across Asia and Pacific. The performance index and standard docking adapter will facilitate quantitative and qualitative effects of utilized SWM techniques.

  • With the substantial increase of the size of structure, management and monitoring of excavation for the foundation construction becomes more difficult. Therefore, massive collapses which are related to retaining wall recently increase. However, since the study on measuring and monitoring the pre-stressing force of anchor is insufficient, behavior of anchor may not be predicted and monitored appropriately by the existing strain gauge type monitoring system. FBG Sensor, which is smaller than strain gauge and has better durability and does not have a noise from electromagnetic waves, was adapted to develope a smart anchor. A series of pullout tests were performed to verify the feasibility of smart anchor and find out the load transfer mechanism around the steel wire fixed to rock with grout.
