  • In this work, we propose an analytic framework for evaluating the quality of service and dimensioning the link capacity in the gateway router of a smart farm with a greenhouse eco-management system. Specifically, we focus on the gateway router of an IoT network that provides an access service for smart farms. We design the link capacity of a gateway router that is used for the remote management of the greenhouse eco-management system to accommodate both time-critical and delay-tolerant traffic in a greenhouse LAN. For this purpose, we first investigate the ecosystem for smart farm, and we define the specification and requirements of the greenhouse eco-management system. Second, we propose a system model for the link capacity of a gateway that is required to guarantee the delay performance of time-critical applications in the greenhouse LAN. Finally, the validity of the proposed system is demonstrated through a series of numerical experiments.

  • In this paper, a smart constrained application protocol (CoAP)-based gateway with a border router is proposed for home safety services to remotely monitor the trespass, fire, and indoor air quality. The smart CoAP gateway controls a home safety sensor node with a pyroelectric infrared motion sensor, a fire sensor, a humidity and temperature sensor, and a non-dispersive infrared CO2 sensor and gathers sensing data from them. In addition, it can convert physical sensing data into understandable information and perform packet conversion as a border router for seamless connection between a low-power wireless personal area network (6LoWPAN) and the Internet (IPv6). Implementation and laboratory test results verify the feasibility of the smart CoAP gateway which especially can provide about 97.20% data throughput.

  • Active networks not only allows the network nodes, switches or routers. to perform routing and forwarding but so allows their users inject customized programs into the nodes of the network or the packets. that may modify, store or redirect the user data flowing through the network. In this paper, we proposed a new network management system built using active network technology, that can solve problems inherent in most of existing legacy centralized network management systems. The main contribution is to present the Smart Router model that can reduce traffics due to managing networks by way of making control packets into simplified patterns. The disadvantages of the centralized network management are presented and the current solution for distributed network management are discussed. The performance improvements that our architecture offers are showed through a service example experiment.

  • Recently, the importance of smart gateways that link these with the big data and the development of the Internet of things is getting bigger. The smart gateway includes a network function such as a router and a router, and a sensor network function that links various objects such as a sensor. As the internet market has expanded, network stability and security problems have arisen and VPN technology has been proposed as one of the ways to solve these security problems. Efficient design is needed to implement VPN in low-end smart gateway and SOHO-level Internet environment with poor line quality. In this paper, we propose the concept and principle of VPN tunneling implementation and real - time traffic shaping method according to internet line condition in the Smart Gateway that supports IOT developed based on OpenWRT, the implementation and measured performance indicators are presented.

  • Router main task is to provide routing of Internet Protocol (IP) packets. Routing is achieved with help of the IP lookup. Router stores information about the networks and interfaces in data structures commonly called as routing tables. Comparison of IP from incoming packet with the IPs stored in routing table for the information about route is IP Lookup. IP lookup performs by longest IP prefix matching. The performance of the IP router is based on the speed of prefix matching. IP lookup is a major bottle neck in the performance of Router. Various algorithms and data structures are available for IP lookup. This paper is about reviewing various tree based structure and its performance evaluation.

  • As smart home network services such as home CCTV, outdoor control of home appliances, home security and disaster prevention services become popular, there appear various affiliated products including smart home gateway and smart speaker. Since those services are generally developed on the vendors' individual hardware and software platforms, it is not much expected for them to interwork well among different architecture and communication methods. In this paper, we propose a new home network service system running on an open source platform to address such issues. We implemented a home network system using OpenWRT-based wireless router(or access point) and Zigbee communication technology. In the proposed system, a wireless router replaces a commercial home gateway and small control units implemented with Arduino control electronic devices and sensors in home. Several service scenarios are also implemented to verify the operability of the proposed system.

  • In modern society, the spread of computers and smart phones, the Internet has become part of life. Therefore, the most places, wired/wireless router is installed. Crackers can attack the user to use the router by exploiting network vulnerabilities. therefore, the administrator is able to try cracker variety of attacks sloppy router, vaccine is installed also computer and smartphone users, appearance and address of the usual Internet is not deer medium and similar. In this paper, we look at a method for preventing in each attack seen for typical network attacks.

  • Currently, many households raise their companion animals for personal reasons. In this environment, the companion animal is left alone in the home, the owner of the companion animal is increasingly curious about the behavior pattern of the companion animal left alone, and there are many devices that can solve this question. In this paper, we have designed and implemented a Bluetooth-based slave device (beacon in this paper) and a router capable of connecting to a broadband network that can observe behavior patterns of companion animals by using advanced ICT technology. The Bluetooth router designed and implemented in this paper installs a beacon in the home, receives the beacon signal from the device and the beacon installed by the companion animal, and transmits the moving line of the companion animal to the owner of the companion animal through the broadband network, so that it can be confirmed in real time through the app for the provided smart phone.

  • In this paper, we proposed a smart multiple-tap system which a remote user with smartphone can control multiple-taps in order to reduce standby-power consumption more conveniently when plugged-in electric appliances are turned-off. Recently, several researches of smart multiple-tap using IoT technology has reported. However, in these researches, an additional device like as a server computer is necessary, or multiple-taps could be only remotely controlled by smartphone and not directly controlled by on/off switch. The proposed smart multiple-tap system does not need any additional device only if it has a WiFi router, and it can be used for user as well as remote control using smartphone application and physically direct control using contact switches like existing multiple-taps. Our approach is to develop a smart multiple-tap device capable of WiFi communication can each serve as a server or a client, and can be operated by the hybrid switch combining the on/off contact switch and the relay switch. We implemented the prototype of the proposed system composed of the smart multiple-tap device and the smartphone application, and the test of the prototype validates the proposed system.
