스마트 의류 개발과 활용을 위한 소비자 인식 조사 (A Study on the Customer Perception for the Development and Application of Smart Clothing)

  • Korean prior studies on smart clothing seeking complete mixture of clothing and computer with diverse functions in the ubiquitous environment were so mere, while there have been aggressive activities to develop diverse smart clothing products led by the relevant industries and universities in foreign countries. Given prospective growth of the smart clothing market, there should be customers' evaluation of functions and utility of and sensitivity to smart clothing as well. This study conducted a questionnaire to Korean customers in their twenties regarding their perception and liking of and willingness to use smart clothing, and examined the needs of new functions of smart clothing. As a result, the customers in their twenties turned out to like well-designed and comfortable clothing, and be exposed to diverse and continuous computing environment. Also, they have relatively low perception but considerably high liking of smart clothing, indicating their high willingness to use smart clothing products. They cited 'selectable functions' and 'mobile and convenient ' as merits, and 'too expensive' and 'easy to wash' as demerits of smart clothing. In the respect, they proposed many interesting smart clothing ideas, such as 'clothing with automatic temperature-sensing function, which gets higher heat- insulating function by tightening the textile structure in winter and higher ventilating function by loosening the textile structure in summer.' We hope the results of this study will serve basic data for development of more efficient smart clothing in the future.

스마트 빌딩을 위한 IoT 클라우드 플랫폼의 성능 평가 (Performance Evaluation of IoT Cloud Platforms for Smart Buildings)

  • 스마트 빌딩 (Smart Building)은 사물 인터넷 (IoT; Internet of Things) 장치와 클라우드 서비스에서 모두 사용될 수 있는 응응 프로그램을 의미한다. 최근 Amazon, Google 및 Microsoft와 같은 클라우드 서비스 제공 업체는 IoT 장치에서 클라우드 애플리케이션 서비스를 제공할 수 있는 IoT 클라우드 플랫폼을 제공하고 있다. Postscapes에 따르면 최근에 152 개의 IoT 클라우드 플랫폼이 존재하고 있으며 스마트 빌딩 구현을 위해 하나를 선택하는 것은 어려운 문제이다. 본 논문에서는 실험을 위해서 마이크로소프트 Azure IoT 허브와 아마존의 AWS(Amazon Web Services) IoT를 선택하였다. 두 개의 IoT 클라우드 플랫폼을 선택하고 스마트 빌딩 관점에서 평가하였다. IoT 클라우드 플랫폼을 평가하기 위해 두 가지 다른 IoT 클라우드 플랫폼을 활용하였고, 일반적인 스마트 빌딩 시나리오를 가정하여 프로토타입을 구현하였다. 실험은 IoT 클라우드 플랫폼을 사용하여 시스템을 개발하는 과정에서 얻은 정보와 경험을 기반으로 수행하였다. 이 평가 결과는 스마트 빌딩을 위해 IoT 클라우드 플랫폼을 선택할 때 활용될 수 있다.

산불진화대원용 스마트 헬멧 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of Smart Helmet for Forest Firefighting Crews)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 산불진화대원들을 안전하게 하고, 현장 정보를 실시간으로 제공하기 위한 스마트 헬멧을 개발하는 것이다. 산불진화대원용 스마트 헬멧은 카메라, 영상/음성통신 모듈, GPS, Bluetooth 및 LTE 모듈 등을 모두 갖추어 산불진화대원의 안전을 도모하고, 스마트 헬멧을 통해 현장 상황을 실시간으로 전송하고, 양방향 통신이 가능하도록 하였다. 제작된 스마트 헬멧을 이용하여 테스트한 결과 관제센터에서 현장 정보를 수신할 수 있었고, 현장 산불진화대원과 소통을 할 수 있었다. 현장 평가와 사용자 평가를 통해 스마트 헬멧의 개선이 필요함을 확인하였다. 개발된 스마트 헬멧은 산림재해 및 산림산업에 다양하게 사용될 수 있을 것이다.

Introducing Smart Learning Framework in the Digital World: Towards the Enhancement of Technology-Driven Innovation of Arabic Smart Learning

  • Smart learning is augmented with digital, context-aware, and adaptable technologies to encourage students to learn better and faster. To ensure that digital learning is successful and that implementation is efficient, it is critical that the dimensions of digital learning are arranged correctly and that interactions between the various elements are merged in an efficient and optimal manner. This paper builds and discusses a basic framework for smart learning in the digital age, aimed to improve students' abilities and performance in learning. The proposed framework consists of five dimensions: Teacher, Technology, Learner, Digital content, and Evaluation. The Teacher and Learner dimensions operate on two levels: (a) an abstract level to fit in knowledge and skills or interpersonal characteristics and (b) a concrete level in the form of digital devices used by teachers and learners. Moreover, this paper proposes asynchronous online course delivery model. An Arabic smart learning platform has been developed, based on these smart learning core dimensions and the asynchronous online course delivery model, because despite the official status of this language in many countries, there is a lack of Arabic platforms to teach Arabic. Moreover, many non-native Arabic speakers around the world have expressed an interest in learning it. The Arabic digital platform consists of over 70 lessons classified into three competence levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced, delivered by Arabic experts and Arabic linguists from various Arab countries. The five dimensions are described for the Arabic platform in this paper. Learner dimension is the Arabic and non-Arabic speakers, Teacher dimension is Arabic experts and Arabic linguistics, Technology dimension consists of technology for Arabic platform that includes web design, cloud computing, big data, etc. The digital contents dimension consists of web-based video, records, etc. The evaluation dimension consists of Teachers rating, comments, and surveys.

Private Blockchain-Based Secure Access Control for Smart Home Systems

  • Smart home systems provide a safe, comfortable, and convenient living environment for users, whereby users enjoy featured home services supported by the data collected and generated by smart devices in smart home systems. However, existing smart devices lack sufficient protection in terms of data security and privacy, and challenging security and privacy issues inevitably emerge when using these data. This article aims to address these challenging issues by proposing a private blockchain-based access control (PBAC) scheme. PBAC involves employing a private blockchain to provide an unforgeable and auditable foundation for smart home systems, that can thwart illegal data access, and ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of access records. A detailed security analysis shows that PBAC could preserve data security against various attacks. In addition, we conduct a comprehensive performance evaluation to demonstrate that PBAC is feasible and efficient.

Open-channel discharges evaluation by the application of smart sensors

  • Understanding a stream's or river's discharge is essential for a variety of hydrological and geomorphological applications at various sizes. However, depending on the stream environment and flow conditions, it is crucial to use the appropriate techniques and instruments. This will ensure that discharge estimations are as reliable as possible. This study presents developed smart system for continuous measurement of open channel discharge and evaluate streamflow measurement over various techniques. This includes developed smart flow meter as flow point measurements, smart water level sensor (installed on Hydraulic Structure ? Weir) and current meters. Advantages and disadvantages of each equipment are presented to ensure that the most appropriate method can be selected. we found that smart water level sensor is more prominent once used during flood event as compared to smart flow meter and current meters, while current meters seems to show better accuracy once applied for open channel.

Usability Evaluation Scale for Product of Intelligent Homecare based on Retail Consumer

  • Purpose: The number intelligent homecare products are focused on the development of technology, resulting in a lack of realistic environments or requirements for consumers. The purpose of this paper is to define the consumer and context for intelligent homecare products and to develop a usability evaluation scale. Research design, data and methodology: For this study, first, consumer and contexts related to intelligent homecare products were analyzed through literature review. Second, the primary usability evaluation factors were derived for intelligent homecare products by collecting the factors related to usability evaluation and conducting in-depth interviews with experts. Third, the second usability evaluation factors were derived through survey and statistical analysis based on the derived usability evaluation factors. Results: As a result, users of intelligent homecare products were classified as primary users and secondary consumers and six related contexts. The usability evaluation scale was established with four factors - Functionality, Error, Convenience, and Emotion - and 13 items. Conclusions: This study can be the basis for developing and distributing products that meet the consumer environment and requirements related to intelligent homecare products that will contribute to securing the competitiveness of companies and developing the technology and service value of related industries.

  • Smartphone has formed a new market and introduced a new environment. They have an operating system like PCs, enabling free installation and removal of application programs. As the number of Smartphone users is increasing, more personal information is also exposed to malicious codes. There are problem of modification and deletion of files, battery consumption, and information leakage due to malicious codes. As the needs of Smartphone antivirus solutions are increasing, the antivirus solutions should be evaluated with quality characteristics. In this paper, we propose an effective evaluation method for functionality and performance of Smartphone antivirus solutions, and the best practices for evaluation.

  • 지능형CCTV시스템 성능평가를 위한 영상취득 및 영상DB 구축 그리고 평가방안을 제시한다. 영상취득은 각 시나리오에 대하여 원거리, 중거리, 근거리 영역을 설정하여 취득하였다. 영상DB에는 영상녹화정보, 검출영역, 실측경보를 XML형식으로 기록한다. 본 논문에서는 영상DB 제작을 위한 효율적인 실측정보 기록을 위한 영상 주석도구를 제안한다. 영상 주석도구는 특정 영상에 대하여 실측정보를 기록하고 지능형CCTV시스템의 출력경보와 비교하여 검출 성능을 평가하는 기능을 포함한다.

Promotion or Prevention? The Moderating Effect of Embedded External Reviews on Consumer Evaluations

  • Given the increasing information overload among users of online review websites, understanding the manner in which cognitive costs are reduced and efficient information is made reliable has become increasingly important. This study targets a unique consumer review design and explores how reviews from an external peer-to-peer site embedded in an online travel agency (OTA) website influence subsequent evaluation behaviors. The empirical results indicate that (1) embedded external reviews with a high average valence tend to strengthen the influence of the positive evaluation ratio while diminishing the effect of the review volume, and (2) embedded external reviews with a large variance strengthen the positive effect of the review volume while weakening the effect of the positive evaluation ratio on subsequent positive evaluations. The findings provide practical insights for consumers and online platforms.
