A Study on the Evaluation of Long-term Development Plans for Libraries with SMART Method: Focus on a Case of the B University's Library (SMART 평가기법을 통한 도서관 장기발전계획 평가에 관한 연구 - B대학교 학술정보관의 사례를 중심으로 -)

  • The goal of this study was to evaluate vision, mission, strategies, and action plans from the long-term development plan for the B University's library, and specificity, measurability, achievability, relevance, and time-frame were measured and evaluated for each with SMART method. The results obtained through this study are as below : Firstly, SMART evaluation result for the B University's library was 3.80 for the vision, 3.97 for the mission, 3.74 for strategies, and 3.64 for action plans. Secondly, specificity of the long-term development plan for the B University's library was 4.06, measurability was 3.72, achievability was 3.68, relevance was 3.90, and time-frame was 3.58. Thirdly, the overall evaluation of the long-term development plan for the B University's library showed that among components from the development plan, the mission was the most superior while action plans had problems. Fourthly, in SMART evaluation factors, specificity was the most superior while time-frame had problems such that it should be supplemented in the future.

  • Augmented reality applications offering location based service on smart phone require attention to users and new usability evaluation methods. The aim of this paper is to introduce new usability principles for application development and usability evaluation, and conduct expert evaluation on the augmented reality applications. We created a set of usability principles by analyzing characteristic of augmented reality applications, and conducted expert evaluation on three augmented reality applications primarily used by smart phone users. In expert evaluation and filtering procedure, we identified six usability problems that three applications have in common and the improvement guideline for the usability problems. The results of expert evaluation was verified by user test with a prototype that was developed using the guidelines. It is expect that the results of this study can be presented usability principles of the augmented reality application and a method of usability evaluation in the middle of new technology development process.

  • ISO/IEC 15408 requires the TOE(Target of Evaluation) Security Environment section of a Protection Profile(PP) or Security Target(ST) to contain a list of assumptions about the TOE security environment or the intended usage of the TOE. This paper presents a specific conditions should be assumed to exist in the smart card environment and the analysis of those conditions developer of smart card PP must consider.

  • To explore the directions of 'Smart Education', we conduct a delphi survey field experts related to it recognized new educational paradigm of 21st century. As a result we can deduct common ground on educational goal, contents, method, evaluation, environment of 'Smart Education'. On the basis of these results, we develop a Smart Education Model to be able to provide a guide in the field. It is a systemic education model consisting of interrelated educational contents, method, evaluation, and environment of 'Smart Education' organically for education goal (e.g., Smart education should spread out for students living on 21st century to solve the problem with cooperation and communication, enhance creativity, and build their good character). We anticipate that this study will be useful in the field.

A Study on the Influencing Factors of Smart-Work Performance (스마트워크 환경하의 업무성과에 영향을 미치는 요인에 관한 연구)

  • This study derived research model about the influencing factors of the successful performance of smart work. Research model is composed of four perspectives: technology perspective like system quality and usage level of information technology, interaction perspective like innovational climate, institutional perspective like personnel evaluation, and individual perspective like self-control. This study collected 155 survey data from K public company and M global software company. As a result of data analysis, all of four perspectives influenced smart work performance. Technology perspective had the strongest effect on smart work performance, the second was institution perspective, the third was interaction perspective, and the last was individual perspective. In conclusion, smart work is not an IT project. We have to reconsider the thinking that just only the introduction of cutting-edge IT increases business performance. Smart work project should be pursued in harmony with institution and climate in the organizational perspective and self-control in the personal perspective. Also, to maximize business performance in smart work environment, organizations should strengthen the positive factors and overcome the negative factors.

Assessing the adoption potential of a smart greenhouse farming system for tomatoes and strawberries using the TOA-MD model

  • The purpose of this study was to estimate the economic evaluation of a smart farm investment for tomatoes and strawberries. In addition, the potential adoption rate of the smart farm was derived for different scenarios. This study analyzed the economic evaluation with the net present value (NPV) method and estimated the adoption potential of the smart farm with the trade-off analysis, minimum data (TOA-MD) model. The results were as follows: The analysis of the net present value shows that the smart farm investment for the two crops are economically feasible, and the minimum prices for the tomatoes and strawberries should be 1,179 and 3,797 won/kg to secure a sufficient economic feasibility for the smart farm investment. Next, the analysis of the potential adoption rates for smart farms through the TOA-MD model showed that when the support ratio for the adoption of a smart farm system was 50% and the price increase rates were, respectively, - 5, 2.5, 0, 2.5, and 5%, the conversion rates for tomato farms to switch to smart farms were 0.97, 1.78, 3.05, 4.91, and 7.47%, while the ratios of the strawberry farms to switch to smart farms were 0.12, 0.29, 0.65, 1.33, and 2.53%, respectively. This study has some known limitations, but it provides useful information on decision making about smart farm adoption and can contribute to government policies on smart farms.

  • The importance of smart learning is increasing as the speed of development of non-face-to-face services increases due to the influence of COVID-19. This study is the user satisfaction evaluation model that utilizes the causal relationship between variables used for evaluation, focusing on the usability evaluation results of the learning disability intervention service (www.basic-edu.net) according to the need to evaluate the use satisfaction of the smart learning system. To this end, theoretical studies were conducted on smart learning and learning disability intervention services, www.basic-edu.net, usability evaluation of learning disability intervention systems, and use satisfaction evaluation models. And based on the results, a hypothesis was presented on the user satisfaction evaluation model of the smart learning system. The experimental method allowed 40 students and parents across the country to use the www.basic-edu.net service and was evaluated for its usability. In addition, using this data, the hypothesis was verified using regression analysis based on four variables: ease of use, interest, self-learning, and satisfaction with use. As a result of the hypothesis verification, it was found that the causal relationship of all hypotheses from H1 to H4 was significant.

  • As the magnitude and frequency of earthquakes increase in Korea, interest in earthquake damage reduction technology has increased. Therefore, research on vibration damping devices that directly respond to seismic loads is being actively researched. After an earthquake, damage or destruction of the device occurs due to the yield of materials, and thus it takes considerable cost and time for restoration and replacement. To supplement the problems of the existing earthquake damage reduction technology, a study was conducted on the recentering smart damper that can be used continuously after an earthquake. In this study, the recentering smart damper that can be restored to its original shape after load removal was developed using superelastic shape memory alloy, pre-compressed polyurethane. General steel was commonly applied to verify the seismic performance of the superelastic shape memory alloy, and the performance of the smart damper was verified according to the amount of polyurethane pre-compressed

  • Smart sensors and connected devices have changed the concept of garments along with IT technology convergent garments that transform the performance of basic functions. Various types of products have been researched and developed due to the increased interest in smart clothing; in addition, studies based on physical and mechanical properties have also been actively studied to improve accuracy and reliability. This study represents a basic study for the development of smart textiles based on motion recognition for the surfing practice of beginners interested in IT convergence type. A physical durability evaluation of conductive yarn according to sewing method was later carried out. This study is a conditional specimen sewn with cotton lower thread and 100mm pattern length based on the results of previous studies. The durability of the conductive yarn according to the sewing method was evaluated according to the sewing method. Durability was evaluated by two kinds of repeated strain and abrasion tests. The specimen with applied cotton in a lower thread zigzag pattern 2mm stitch size 100mm stitch length was shown to have the most suitable durability for smart textile.

Factors affecting real-time evaluation of muscle function in smart rehab systems

  • Advancements in remote medical technologies and smart devices have led to expectations of contactless rehabilitation. Conventionally, rehabilitation requires clinicians to perform routine muscle function assessments with patients. However, assessment results are difficult to cross-reference owing to the lack of a gold standard. Thus, the application of remote smart rehabilitation systems is significantly hindered. This study analyzes the factors affecting the real-time evaluation of muscle function based on biometric sensor data so that we can provide a basis for a remote system. We acquired real clinical stroke patient data to identify the meaningful features associated with normal and abnormal musculature. We provide a system based on these emerging features that assesses muscle functionality in real time via streamed biometric signal data. A system view based on the amount of data, data processing speed, and feature proportions is provided to support the production of a rudimentary remote smart rehabilitation system.
