The recent development in genetic assisted selection (combining traditional- and genome assisted selection method) and reproduction technologies will allow multiplying elite cow in Hanwoo small farm. This review describes the new context and corresponding needs for genome assisted selection schemes and how reproductive technologies can be incorporated to get more genetic gain for cow genetic improvement in Hanwoo. New improved massive phenotypes and pedigree information are being generated from commercial farm sector and these are allowing to do genetic evaluation using BLUP to get elite cows in Korea. Moreover cattle genome information can now be incorporated into breeding program. In this context, this review will discuss about combining the reproductive techniques (Multiple Ovulation Embryo Transfer; MOET) and genome assisted selection method to get more genetic gain in Hanwoo breeding program. Finally, how these technologies can be used for multiplication of elite cow in small farm was discussed.

The structure of the Hanwoo (Korean Native Cattle) Industry remains very weak and vulnerable to the WTO/IMF system. Considering that the majority of cattle farmers are small sized, and that marketing systems are outdated and inefficient, rapid expansion of lower priced beef imports by WTO system and rapid increasing of production costs by IMF system would lead to the deprivation of a regular source of farm income and threaten the stability of rural life. Accordingly, the Hanwoo industry should be expanded in accordance with progress in the implementation of (1) programs for the structural adjustment and (2) measures to compensate for the loss. Efforts for lowering major production factor costs needs to continue, In order to increase the supply of calves at low cost, the programs of collective cow-calf farms should be expanded, thereby reducing the cost of calf purchase, which constitutes the largest share of Hanwoo production cost. Also, feedlot operations should be encouraged for small herd farms in order to achieve a substantial saving in beef production costs by integrated operations from calf production to cattle fattening. A substantial saving would also be made by collective purchase and distribution of various inputs through the cooperatives' channels. Extension services should be strengthened for cattle farm management, cattle care and feeding, prevention of cattle disease, etc. In order to minimize cash outlays for commercial mixed feeds, utilization of far by-products as feeds should be enhanced and production of forage crops productive of resources, such as land and rural labor, during the farm o(f-season, needs to be encouraged. Also, technological development for enhancing the nutritional value of farm by-products should be encouraged. Measures for successful segregation of the Hanwoo beef market should be implemented, thereby enhancing incentive for quality beef producers and protecting consumers willing to pay higher price for quality beef. For development of the Hanwoo industry, a considerable time frame would be required in order for (1) small livestock farmers to make a successful adjustment by staying in the enterprise and achieving increased price efficiency (2) livestock farmers to acquire know-how for producing quality Hanwoo beef, (3) the ongoing Government policy of enhancing price-quality competitiveness, and for improving the quality Hanwoo beef marketing to take root. (4) consumers to increase their ability to distinguish meat quality, and others.

The purpose of the study is to estimate the Green-House-Gas (GHG) emissions from domestic eel farm in the water recirculation system or still-water system by the assessment of energy consumptions and GHG emissions for establishing to reduce standards of GHG from a sustainable perspective. GHG emission components as seeds, feed, fuel, electricity, fixed capital, fish respiration, and others were analysed at the different culture type between water recirculation system and still-water system by 3 stage farm size of small, medium, large scale. The result showed that the mean GHG emission of the eel farm was $18.7kg{\cdot}CO_2$ in the stage of production per fish 1kg at different culture type and farm size. Therefore it could be useful for policy, planning, and regulation of aquaculture development with establishing GHG reduction standards.
At the moment, the control ability of wind farms is a prime research concern for the grid integration of large wind farms, due to their required active role in the power system. As more wind turbines are installed, the power from wind energy will start to replace conventional generation units and its influence on power systems cannot be neglected. Besides, because of the intermittent nature of wind the output power of wind turbines fluctuates according to wind speed variation. Especially an isolated power system with small capacity such like Jeju needs more systematic solutions and regulations(grid code). This paper presents the idea of approach for centralized operating wind farm strategy to regulate the wind farm power production to the reference power ordered by the system operator. The doubly fed induction generator(DFIG) can control active and reactive power in feasible range. So wind farm comprised of DFIG has the possibility of a controllable component in the power system. The presented wind farm control has a hierarchical structure with both a wind farm control level and a wind turbine control level.

An ocean buoy energy farm is considered for Green energy generation and delivery to small towns along the Korean coast. The present study presents that the floating buoy-type energy farm appears to be sufficiently feasible for trapping more energy compared to affixed cylinder duck array. It is also seen from the numerical results that the resonated waves between spaced buoys are further trapped by floating buoy motion. Our numerical study is analyzed by a plane-wave approximation, in which evanescent mode effects are included in a modified mild-slope equation based on the scattering characteristics for a single buoy.

The demand for agricultural information system are small but expanding in Korea. Use of information system in farm extension hilps both farmers and extensionists. This study undertakes surveys of literature on information system and extension to finds their relationship. Use of the information system can make extension service more effective if it is developed to meet following factors; 1) consider real farm problem; 2) solve the problems; 3) generate more values than costs; 4) consider real farm environments; 5) comprehensive enough to consider all relevant knowledge domain; 6) sensitive enough to meet the changes in farm environment; 7) educational and easy to learn; 8) easy to maintain.
All countries make an effort to ensure the safety of agricultural products in the food distribution phase. Recently, as the market size of farm produces sales has increased through on-line shopping malls, there are various researches to offer traceable information about farm produces to customers conveniently and correctly. This paper designs and implements an integrated self-advertisement system for farm produces. By offering producer's information and traceable information about farm produces directly through the suggested system, a producer can assure the safeness of the informations and a customer can have trust in the agricultural produces. Especially, because the suggested system does not need a heavy cost or a complicated registration process for producers, it can be used as convenient and safe advertisement means and help small-scale producers a lot in increasing sales profit.

Effective machine capacity is affected by the physical and geometrical conditions of the fields. In the small and scattered farmland structure field efficiency is greatly influenced by plot geometry. In this paper, a method for estimating field efficiency and effective machine capacity was developed . The developed method was applied to Korean paddy cultivation. Various time elements related to farm operations for small and scattered plots are discussed in this paper . Available working time is divided into two parts, viz. the preparation time for machine operation and actual working time. Two kinds of machine efficiencies, namely , Machine Efficiency 1, applicable on a single large plot or set of well consolidated plots ; and Machine Efficiency 2, applicable on small and scattered multiple plots, are considered. Based assumptions made and steps followed to construct the model are discussed. Effective capacity of each machine based on different plot geometries are calculated y the model. Machine efficiency on a single plot increases with increase in the dimension of longer side of the plot . Low speed, low theoretical capacity machines have higher machine efficiency which is only slightly influenced by plot geometry. As plot geometry is improved , the machine efficiency of high speed, high capacity machines increases rapidly. The effects of short side length and plot size on machine efficiency on a single plot depend on the type of farm operation. For a particular plot shape, as plot size increases, machine efficiency on multiple plots increases rapidly. The effects of consolidation on machine efficiency is highly significant if the plot size is small and/or machine size is large.
A dispered power system means a little bit of small power generation equipment located near the power-damend areas. Due to no power supply line, such a power source is very favorable for the decrease in loss of electric power supply, in comparison to the giantly focused power source, Because of small power source, this power source also corresponds promptly to the variation of power demend. On the basis of energy saving, environmental reservation, and utilization of natural or unused energy, solar power plants can be introduced into the residence section of cities and small water or wind-power plants near the urban areas. In case of Korea, some wind farm have been introduced into Cheju island, Condensed introduction of several small power sources into an used distribution line may, however, result in a big problem, it is, therefore, necessary that protective-cooporative plans between power quality and distribution line should be introduced for efficient utilization of KEPCO distribution system.
