Objectives The aim of this experiment is to provide an differentiation of ginseng, red ginseng, cultivated wild ginseng(CWG), and red wild ginseng(RWG) through component analysis using HPLC(High Performance Liquid Chromatography, hereafter HPLC). Methods Comparative analyses of ginsenoside $Rg_3$, ginsenoside $Rh_2$, and ginsenosides $Rb_1$ and $Rg_1$ of various ginsengs were conducted using HPLC. Results 1. CWG was relatively heat-resistant and showed slow change in color during the process of steaming and drying, compared to cultivated ginseng. 2. Ginsenoside $Rg_3$ was not detected in cultivated ginseng and CWG, whereas it was high in red ginseng and RWG. Ginsenoside $Rg_3$ was more generated in red ginseng than in RWG. 3. Ginsenoside $Rh_2$ appreared during steaming and drying of cultivated ginseng, whereas it was more increased during steaming and drying of CWG. 4. Ginsenoside $Rg_1$ content was more increased during steaming and drying of cultivated ginseng, whereas it was more decreased during steaming and drying of CWG. 5. Ginsenoside $Rb_1$ content was increased about 500% during steaming and drying of cultivated ginseng, whereas it was increased about 30% during steaming and drying of CWG, indicating that ginsenoside $Rb_1$ was more generated in red ginseng than in RWG. 6. Ginsenoside $Rg_3$ content was higher, whereas ginsenoside $Rg_1$ content was lower in 11th RWG than in 9th RWG, indicating that ginsenoside $Rg_3$ content was increased and $Rg_1$ content was decreased as steaming and drying continued to proceed. Ginsenoside $Rh_2$ and $Rb_1$ contents began to be increased, followed by decreased after 9th steaming and drying process. Conclusions Above experiment data can be an important indicator for the dentification of ginseng, red ginseng, CWG, and RWG. And the following studies will be need for making good product using CWG.
An electronic nose equipped with metal oxide sensor(MOS) was used for investigating the quality of reconstitute orange juice added different recoverable oil(cold pressed valencia oil) contents during 21 days of storage at $4^{\circ}C$. Quality changes in orange juice was described in terms of the sensitivity(${\Delta}R_{gas}/R_{air}$) of the sensors. Principal component analysis(PCA) was carried out using data obtained from twelve metal oxide sensors. The flavor of orange juice contained with the different recoverable oil contents($0.01\%{\sim}0.05\%$) was separated in PCA plot, in which the first principal component score was correlated with the content of recoverable oil. As storage periods prolonged, no significantly different sensitivity score of orange juice was observed in electronic nose. The content of recoverable oil in orange juice was reduced rapidly within 14 days, and then the decreasing ratio was slow on the next 7 days during storage at $4^{\circ}C$. The sensory score for overall and orange flavor of orange juice added $0.03\%$ recoverable oil was decreased during the 14 days and then rapidly dropped next 7 days of storage at $4^{\circ}C$.
Some biochemical features of varietal variation in seed protein and their implications for soybean breeding for high protein were pursued employing 86 soybean varieties of Korea, Japan, and the U.S.A. origins. Also, studied comparatively was the temporal pattern of protein components accumulation during seed development characteristic to the high protein variety. Seed protein content of the 86 soybean varieties varied 34.4 to 50.6%. Non-existence of variety having high content of both protein and oil, or high protein content with average oil content as well as high negative correlation between the content of protein and oil (r=-0.73$^{**}$) indicate strongly a great difficulty to breed high protein variety while conserving oil content. The total content of essential amino acids varied 32.82 to 36.63% and the total content of sulfur-containing amino acids varied 2.09 to 2.73% as tested for 12 varieties differing protein content from 40.0 to 50.6%. The content of methionine was positively correlated with the content of glutamic acid, which was the major amino acid (18.5%) in seed protein of soybean. In particular, the varieties Bongeui and Saikai #20 had high protein content as well as high content of sulfur-containing amino acids. The content of lysine was negatively correlated with that of isoleucine, but positively correlated with protein content. The content of alanine, valine or leucine was correlated positively with oil content. The seed protein of soybean was built with 12 to 16 components depending on variety as revealed on disc acrylamide gel electrophoresis. The 86 varieties were classified into 11 groups of characteristic electrophoretic pattern. The protein component of Rm=0.14(b) showed the greatest varietal variation among the components in their relative contents, and negative correlation with the content of the other components, while the protein component of Rm=0.06(a) had a significant, positive correlation with protein content. There was sequential phases of rapid decrease, slow increase and stay in the protein content during seed development. Shorter period and lower rate of decrease followed by longer period and higher rate of increase in protein content during seed development was of characteristic to high protein variety together with earlier and continuous development at higher rate of the protein component a. Considering the extremely low methionine content of the protein component a, breeding for high protein content may result in lower quality of soybean protein.n.

Principles of a novel pulse growing method are described. The method realized in the crystal growing on a seed from melts under raw melt feeding provided a more reliable control of the crystallization process when producing large alkali halide crystals. The slow natural convection of the melt in the crucible at a constant melt level is intensified by rotating the crucible, while the crystal rotation favors a more symmetrical distribution of thermal stresses over the crystal cross-section. Optimum rotation parameters for the crucible and crystal have been determined. The spatial position oi the solid/liquid phase interface relatively to the melt surface, heaters and the crucible elements are considered. Basing on that consideration, a novel criterion is stated, that is, the immersion extent of the crystallization front (CF) convex toward the melt. When the crystal grows at a <> CF immersion, the raised CF may tear off from the melt partially or completely due to its weight. This results in avoid formation in the crystal. Experimental data on the radial crystal growth speed are discussed. This speed defines the formation of a gas phase layer at the crystal surface. The layer thickness il a function of time a temperature at specific values of pressure in the furnace and the free melt surface dimensions in the gap between the crystal and crucible wall. Analytical expressions have been derived for the impurity component mass transfer at the steady-state growth stage describing two independent processes, the impurity mass transfer along the <> path and its transit along the <> one. The heater (and thus the melt) temperature variation is inherent in any control system. It has been shown that when random temperature changes occur causing its lowering at a rate exceeding $0.5^{\circ}C/min$, a kind of the CF decoration by foreign impurities or by gas bubbles takes place. Short-term temperature changes at one heater or both result in local (i.e., at the front) redistribution of the preset axial growth speed.
CsI single crystals doped with lithium, potassium or rubidium were grown by using Czochralski method at Ar gas atmosphere. The energy resolutions of CsI(Li:0.2 mole%), CsI(K:0.5 mole%) and CsI(Rb:1.5 mole%) scintillators were 14.5%, 15.9% and 17.0% for $^{137}Cs$(0.662 MeV), respectively. The energy calibration curves of CsI(Li), CsI(K) and CsI(Rb) scintillators were linear for $\gamma$-ray energy. The time resolutions of CsI(Li:0.2 mole%), CsI(K:0.5 mole%) and CsI(Rb:1.5 mole%) scintillators measured by CFT(constant-fraction timing method) were 9.0 ns, 14.7 ns and 9.7 ns, respectively. The fluorescence decay times of CsI(Li:0.2 mole%) scintillator had a fast component and slow one of ${\tau}_1=41.2\;ns$ and ${\tau}_2=483\;ns$, respectively. The fluorescence decay times of CsI(K:0.5 mole%) scintillator were ${\tau}_1=47.2\;ns$ and ${\tau}_2=417\;ns$. And the fluorescence decay times of CsI(Rb:1.5 mole%) scintillator were ${\tau}_1=41.3\;ns$ and ${\tau}_2=553\;ns$. The phosphorescence decay times of CsI(Li:0.2 mole%), CsI(K:0.5 mole%) and CsI(Rb:1.5 mole%) scintillators were 0.51 s, 0.57 s and 0.56 s, respectively.
As a central component of a novel protein kinase cascade, the activation of the mitogen-activated protein (MAP) kinase cascade has attracted considerable attention. We sought to determine the effect of exercise and diet on the activation of the extracellular-signal regulated protein kinase (ERK) 1/2 and the p38 MAP kinase pathways in rat soleus muscle. Forty-eight Sprague-Dawley rats were assigned to one of two dietary conditions: high-carbohydrate (CHO) or high-fat (FAT). Animals having each dietary condition were further divided into one of three subgroups: a sedentary control group that did not exercise (NT), a group that performed 8 weeks of treadmill running and was sacrificed 48 h after their final treadmill run (CE), and a group that was sacrificed immediately after their final routine exercise training (AE). A high-fat diet did not have any significant effect on phosphorylated and total forms of ERK 1/2 or p38 MAP kinase. In chronically trained muscle that was taken 48 h after the last training, phosphorylated ERK 1/2 significantly increased only in the FAT but not in the CHO groups. In the case of total ERK 1/2, it increased significantly for both groups. In contrast, both phosphorylated and total forms of p38 MAP kinase decreased markedly compared to sedentary muscle. In muscle that was taken immediately after a last bout of exercise, phosphorylated ERK 1/2 increased in both groups but statistical significance was seen only in the CHO group. Total ERK 1/2 in acutely stimulated muscle increased only in the CHO-AE group even though the degree was much lower than the phosphorylated status. Muscle that was taken immediately after the routine training increased in phosphorylation status of p38 MAP kinase for both dietary conditions. However, statistical significance was seen only in the CHO group owing to a large variation with FAT. In conclusion, a high-fat diet per se did not have any notable effect versus a high-carbohydrate diet on MAP kinase pathways. However, when diet (either CHO or FAT) was combined with exercise and/or training, there was differentiated protein expression in MAP kinase pathways. This indicates MAP kinase pathways have diverse control mechanisms in slow-twitch fibers.

Nowadays image sensor is an essential component in many multimedia devices, and it is covered by a color filter array to filter out specific color components at each pixel. We need a certain algorithm to combine those color components reconstructed a full color image from incomplete color samples output from an image sensor, which is called a demosaicking process. Most existing demosaicking algorithms are developed for ideal image sensors, but they do not work well for the practical cases because of dissimilar characteristics of each sensor. In this paper, we propose a new demosaicking algorithm in which the color filter characteristics are fully utilized to generate a good image. To demonstrate significance of our algorithm, we used a commerically available sensor, CBN385B, which is a sort of Honeycomb-style CFA(Color Filter Array) CCD image sensor. As a performance metric of the algorithm, PSNR(Peak Signal to Noise Ratio) and RGB distribution of the output image are used. We first implemented our algorithm in C-language for simulation on various input images. As a result, we could obtain much enhanced images whose PSNR was improved by 4~8 dB compared to the commonly idealized approaches, and we also could remove the inclined red property which was an unique characteristics of the image sensor(CBN385B).Then we implemented it in hardware to overcome its problem of computational complexity which made it operate slow in software. The hardware was verified on Spartan-3E FPGA(Field Programable Gate Array) to give almost the same performance as software, but in much faster execution time. The total logic gate count is 45K, and it handles 25 image frmaes per second.

ProRoot MTA(Dentsply Tulsa, U.S.A) which has similar component with Portland cement has setting expansion character and long setting time. Excessive expansion can cause fracture at the apical portion of the root and decreasing of volume stability. And the long setting time makes additional visits for crown restoration and slow setting process of this material can change physical properties itself. In this study, among requirements of root canal filling material(KS P ISO 6876) which is revised at 2008, we investigated the setting time and setting expansion. Objects are recently developed OrthoMTA(BioMTA, Korea), conventional ProRoot white MTA(Dentsply Tulsa, U.S.A) and White portland cement(Union, Korea). The results in setting expansion, OrthoMTA was $0.08{\pm}0.02%$, ProRoot white MTA and White portland cement were each $0.28{\pm}0.06$, $0.80{\pm}0.25%$(p<0.05). The results in setting time, OrthoMTA, ProRoot white MTA, White portland cement were each $307.78{\pm}3.83$ min, $150.44{\pm}2.35$ min, $235.33{\pm}9.07$ min(p<0.05).

In this paper, the performance of a hybrid DS/SFH-SS(direct-sequence/slow-frequency-hopped spread-spectrum) system with coherent BPSK modulation over Nakagami fading channel in the presence of multiple tone jamming is analyzed. Because the Nakagami m-distribution can describe not only Rayleigh fading but also more general fluctuations involving a specular component by adjusting the value of the fading index m. It is known that for m=1 corresponds to Rayleigh fading, for $1/2{\le}m{\le}1$ corresponds to the worst case fading condition, for m>1 corresponds to Rician fading, and for $m{\to}{\infty}$ corresponds to the nonfading condition. The bit error probability is derived over Nakagami model and numerical evaluations are presented for some combinations of system parameters. The results show that as m increases, the bit error probability is better. Also, at a low JSR(jamming-to-signal power ratio), a pure DS-SS system can achieve lower bit error probability than a hybrid DS/SFH-SS system. But at a high JSR, a hybrid DS/SFH-SS system is shown to be superior to a pure DS-SS system. Therefore, it is demonstrated that without increasing the total system bandwidth, the performance of a hybrid DS/SFH-SS is superior to that of a pure DS-SS system in the presence of multiple tone jamming.
For this study, the semi-adiabatic temperature rising test is accomplished by using ternary system cement (OPC, BFS, FA) reducing temperature crack. Two tests are conducted; one is for the paste test, and the other is for the concrete test. As the results of paste tests, using fly ash is better to reduce hydration temperature than doing blast furnace slag. In the case of the paste mixed ternary system cement, the more fly ash is mixed and the less blast furnace slag is used, the lower the temperature is. The less the mixture ratio of blast furnace slag is and the more the mixture ratio of fly ash is, the later the temperature rising velocity and descending velocity are. Besides, the temperature is lower if water/binder ratio is high. The use of ternary system cement has the retardation effect of temperature rising because the time to reach the maximum temperature is in the order of OPC100, binary system cement, and ternary system cement. From the test, the maximum temperature of concrete used ternary system cement is $8{\sim}11^{\circ}C$ lower than that of concrete used OPC100. Moreover, temperatures rising velocity and descending velocity of ternary system cement range $47{\sim}51%$ and $37{\sim}42%$ compared with OPC100. The specimen of concrete shows remarkable low internal temperature and slow temperature rising velocity and descending velocity compared with the specimen of paste because it is that temperature loss of concrete is much more than paste specimen according to aggregates.
