  • The WiMedia Alliance has specified a Distributed Medium Access Control (D-MAC) protocol based on UWB for high speed wireless home networks and WPANs. The WiMedia D-MAC fundamentally removes the problems of the centralized MAC revealed at IEEE 802.15.3 MAC, by adopting a distributed architecture. However, there is no completely distributed method for allocating fair data rates to all traffic streams by considering each stream's QoS parameter. In this paper, a novel fair distributed QoS admission control method is proposed. The proposed method is a fair, adaptive QoS provisioning method, by allocating time slots to devices according to the current traffic load condition, through executing only a proposed single satisfaction of QoS (SoQ) algorithm at each device.

Wide Band Characteristics of the Microstrip circular and square Slot Patch Antenna (마이크로스트립 원형 및 사각형 급전 슬롯 패치 안테나의 광대역 특성)

  • To complement the narrow band characteristics of the microstrip patch antenna, the slot patch antenna was designed for the wide band characteristics. The microstrip slot patch antenna has wide band characteristics when the size of the slots and the feed line shapes are designed accordingly. In this study, various substrates as a epsilon-10, and a epoxy were used to design slot patch antennas. The feed line structure of the circular and square were also designed to have wide band. In the case of slot antennas with the circular patch shapes using epsilon-10 plate 50mm thickness with relative permittivity the 41% bandwidth on the 1.5∼2.28㎓ was shown. When an Epoxy plate 1.Sum thickness with relative permittivity 4.75 is used to construct a circular slot antenna with a square patch form, the frequency band width was obtained 77% as the 1.2∼2.7㎓ frequency range. These results are coincided well with the theoretical results.

  • A Hardware system of hybrid environmental control was developed for using it in the multi-greenhouse. Now, an on/off control system is most utilized in protected cultivation, but a hybrid environmental control system is not yet. This system consists of a hardware to be devided by physical elements and a software for the hardware a personal computer, a hybrid environmental control and a communication Program for modules. The hardware was made of several independent modules with independent CPU. Each module was made to slots. which are very convenient to mount and take off. Also, they are managed easily to repair, add, remove, and change of their function and expansion. The software for a personal computer was a menu driven program written in visual basic within a Windows environment for easy applications by a user. The hybrid environmental control software have operating factors operate continuously with temperature, humidity and others in greenhouse. Communication programs were used both 485 communication method for long distance communication between modules and CRC communication method for making easy to program, and less errors between personal computer and modules.

  • According to the user requirements for continuous and real-time multimedia information, the concept of Quality of Service (QoS) has emerged as a main issue in mobile ad-hoc networks. QoS routing is to find the route that meets the QoS requirements of the users. In this paper, we propose a routing protocol that is based on AODV over TDMA, one of the typical routing protocols for mobile ad-hoc networks, by making a bandwidth reservation for QoS guarantee. While the existing schemes calculate the maximum available bandwidth for each candidate path, our scheme is to check only if the bandwidth of a given path satisfies the end-to-end QoS requirement and then to make a reservation by allocating time slots efficiently in the wireless environment. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed QoS routing protocol, some simulations are carried out in the ad-hoc environment.

  • A novel hybrid multiple access system, TD-BCDMA, where Binary CDMA that maintains a constant amplitude by clipping the summation of input signals multiplied by the orthogonal codes is transmitted over a TDMA frame structure, was Nosed. In every time slot of TDMA, binary CDMA modulated multiple channel signals are transmitted with the same waveform of TDMA. TD-BCDMA has all the advantages of TDMA. Flexible adjustment of the data transmission rate In demand is possible by adjusting the number of codes and time slots assigned to each user. This property was used to show an example of Ad Hoc network applications. To obtain a proper synchronization scheme for TD-BCDMA, the Receiver Operating Characteristics performance and the false alarm probability and false dismissal probability under various channel environment of two different schemes, a preamble scheme as in TDMA and a synchronization channel scheme as in CDMA were compared. It was proved that the preamble scheme is more practical and suitable than the synchronization channel scheme for the hybrid multiple access system.

  • The novel vision-based scheme for real-time extracting traffic parameters is proposed in this paper. Detecting and tracking of vehicle is processed at local region installed by operator. Local region is divided to segmented regions by edge and frame difference, and the segmented regions are classified into vehicle, road, shadow and headlight by statistical and geometrical features. Vehicle is detected by the result of the classification. Traffic parameters such as velocity, length, occupancy and distance are estimated by tracking using template matching at local region. Because background image are not used, it is possible to utilize under various conditions such as weather, time slots and locations. It is performed well with 90.16% detection rate in various databases. If direction, angle and iris are fitted to operating conditions, we are looking forward to using as the core of traffic monitoring systems.

  • In this paper, a new microstrip antenna using asymmetric U-shaped slotted ground is proposed for a switchable circular polarization sense. The proposed antenna is achieved a circularly polarization from orthogonal E-field distributions with 90 degree phase difference due to the asymmetrical U-shaped slot. Moreover, the circular polarization sense of the proposed antenna can be easily switchable with changing the symmetric plane of the U-shaped slots. As a result, the proposed antenna is implemented by two PIN diodes with two different bias condition for ON/OFF states. The measured axial ratios are about 1.5 dB without the dependence of the polarization sense and 3-dB axial ratio bandwidth are achieved 29 MHz with respect to about 1.2 % at 2.46 GHz operating frequency.

  • In this paper, we propose networked airborne relay-based positioning scheme (N-ARPS) based on time division multiple access (TDMA) networks to improve the performance of relative navigation (RelNav). To integrate the ARPS into TDMA, there are three problems such as slot allocation, selection of airborne relays, and method for signal loss to be solved. A subframe of N-ARPS is designed to assign the slots for broadcast and relay of navigation signals consecutively to minimize the effect of mobility. The selection algorithm determines the optimum set of airborne relays by selecting evenly distributed nodes depending on their distances to the master station. Finally, we uses precise position location information (PPLI) messages, which are received in data transmission period, to estimate a user position when the navigation signals are missing. The simulation results indicate that N-ARPS significantly improves user accuracy over RelNav.

  • A simple Time Division Multiplex(TDM) switching system which has been widely in satellite networks provides any size of bandwidth for a number of low bandwidth subscribers by allocating proper number of time slots in a frame. In this paper, we propose a new approach based on graph coloring model for efficient time slot assignment algorithm in contrast to network flow model in previous works. When the frame length of an initial matrix of time slot requests is 2's power, this matrix is divided into two matrices of time slot requests using binary divide and conquer method based on the graph coloring model. This process is continued until resulting matrices of time slot requests are of length one. While the most efficient algorithm proposed in the literature has time complexity of $O(N^{4.5})$, the time complexity of the proposed algorithm is $O(NLlog_2L)$, where N is the number of input/output links and L is the number of time slot alloted to each link in the frame.

Development of Frequency Domain Matching for Automated Mosaicking of Textureless Images (텍스쳐 정보가 없는 영상의 자동 모자이킹을 위한 주파수영역 매칭기법 개발)

  • To make a mosaicked image, we need to estimate the geometric relationship between individual images. For such estimation, we needs tiepoint information. In general, feature-based methods are used to extract tiepoints. However, in the case of textureless images, feature-based methods are hardly applicable. In this paper, we propose a frequency domain matching method for automated mosaicking of textureless images. There are three steps in the proposed method. The first step is to convert color images to grayscale images, remove noise, and extract edges. The second step is to define a Region Of Interest (ROI). The third step is to perform phase correlation between two images and select the point with best correlation as tiepoints. For experiments, we used GOCI image slots and general frame camera images. After the three steps, we produced reliable tiepoints from textureless as well as textured images. We have proved application possibility of the proposed method.
