CFD 해석을 이용한 롤투롤 슬롯-다이 내부 유동 분석 및 최적화 (Analysis and Optimization on Inside Flows of Fluid in Roll-to-Roll Slot-Die Nozzle by CFD Simulation)

  • Computational fluid dynamic simulation based on the ABAQUS software was conducted to observe the inside flow of slot-die nozzle. The slot-die nozzle was modeled as 3-dimensional structure and three significant parameters were determined: inlet velocity of fluid, reservoir angles, number of strips none of which have been mentioned previously in the literature. The design of experiment, full factorial analysis was performed within determined design and process levels. The simulation result shows the inlet fluid velocity is most significant factor for the flows of inside nozzle. As an interaction effect, reservoir angle is closely related with number of strip that should address when the nozzle is designed. Moreover, the optimized values of each determined parameter were obtained as 35 mm/s of inlet velocity, 3 of strip numbers, and $22^{\circ}$ of reservoir angles. Based on these parameters, the outlet velocity was obtained as 0.53% of outlet uniformity which is improved from 8.67% of nominal results.

서지성능 향상을 위한 원심압축기의 Bleed Slot Casing의 설계변수에 대한 해석 및 시험 평가 (Numerical and Experimental Study on the Surge Performance Improvement by the Bleed Slot Casing of a Centrifugal Compressor)

  • The primary design goal of a compressor is focused on improving efficiency. Secondary objective is to widen the operating range of compressor. This paper presents a numerical and experimental investigation of the influence of the bleed slot on the operating range for the 1.2 MW class centrifugal compressor installed in a turbocharger. The main design parameters of the bleed slot casing are upstream slot position, inlet pipe slope, downstream slot position and width. The DOE(design of experiment) method was carried out to optimize the casing design. Numerical analyses were done by the commercial code ANSYS-CFX based on the three dimensional Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations. Results showed that efficiency and pressure ratio increased as the downstream slot position and width were smaller and the upstream position was located away from the impeller inlet. Experimental works were also done with and without the bleed slot casing. The simulation results were in good agreement with the test data. Enhancement of both the surge margin up to 26.5% and the pressure ratio with the optimized bleed slot design were achieved, compared with the surge margin of only 6.6% without the bleed slot casing.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 도시 유역에서의 표면유출에 의한 맨홀 유입량을 추정하고 관망에서의 흐름을 해석하기 위한 모형을 개발하기 위한 것이다. 각 맨홀로의 유입량은 합리식을 이용한 단순방법으로 유입 수문곡선을 모의하는 방법과 해당유역 특성을 고려한 표면유출 모의에 의한 유입 수물곡선 결정방법이 이용된다. 관망에서의 흐름은 Saint-Venant공식의 dynamic equation에 유한음차분법(four-point implicit method)응 적용하여 동시해법으로 해석하였다. 특히 압력류(surcharge flow)흐름은 관의 상단에 좁고 긴 가상관을 연결시켜 모든 흐름을 개수로 흐름으로 해석가능 하도록 전환함으로써 해석의 단순화를 기하였고, 개발된 USS-slot모형이 부정류 우수관망 흐름을 적절히 모의할 수 있는가를 판별하기 위하여 기존에 연구된 관망에 적용하여 그 결과들을 비교 분석하였다.

슬롯다이 코팅의 최적화 조건에 관한 연구 (Study on the Optimized Condition of the Slot-Die Coating Process)

  • 본 연구에서는 코팅 공정에 사용되는 슬롯다이(slot-die)에 대해 조건에 따른 코팅 성능을 연구하였다. 슬롯다이 코팅은 코팅 되는 필름의 속도, 코팅액의 점도 그리고 슬롯다이로 주입 되는 압력에 따라 코팅 품질이 많이 달라진다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 CFD 코드를 이용하여 안정적인 코팅을 위한 최적의 조건을 찾았다. 다양한 코팅액의 점도와 슬롯다이 입구의 압력 그리고 코팅 필름의 속도에 대해서 해석을 수행하였다. 그 결과로 $5kgf/cm^2$의 압력과 100cps 의 점도 그리고 20m/min 의 속도 조합에서 가장 안정적으로 코팅액이 잘 도포되었다.

무창자돈사의 환경요인 개선을 위한 변형환기시스템의 현장 평가 연구 (A Farm Scale Study on the Modified Ventilation System for Improving Environmental Factors in a Confined Nursery Pig Building)

  • Nursery pig building is imperative to provide environmental conditions favorable to maintenance of piglet health and the efficiency of growth rate. To meet the ultimate goal, it is necessary to apply proper ventilation design and construction to a confinement livestock building. This study was conducted to investigate the performance of a modified ventilation system in terms of devised slot-inlet (modification I) and exhaust fan (modification II) to improve air change rate in a confined nursery pig building, with dimension of 5.9 m(W) ${\times}$ 12.6 m(L) ${\times}$ 2.2 m(H) in an Darby Genetic Station. The experiment was carried out in August, especially when the outdoor peak temperature were above $30^{\circ}C$ and the measured indoor environmental factors were temperature, air velocity, humidity and ammonia concentration which have been known to affect the piglet health and growth. There was no difference in indoor temperature between the original and modified ventilation systems, however the air velocity and ammonia concentration in confined nursery pig building with modified ventilation system were, in most cases, better performance than original ventilation system. Therefore, it was concluded that the slot-inlet system that kept indoor environmental factors pertinent and had an economic advantage, should be considered as a ventilation system for decreasing sensible heat from piglet in confined nursery pig building during extreme summer season.

냉각유로방식 변화에 따른 슬롯 막냉각에서의 유동 및 열전달 특성 (Flow and Heat Transfer Characteristics in a Slot Film Cooling with Various Flow Inlet Conditions)

  • An experimental investigation is conducted to improve a slot film cooling system which can be used for the cooling of gas turbine combustor liner. The tangential slots are constructed of discrete holes with different injection types which are the parallel, vertical, and combined to the slot lip. The investigation is focused on the coolant supply systems of normal-, parallel-, and counter-flow paths to the mainstream direction. A naphthalene sublimation technique has been employed to measure the local heat/mass transfer coefficients in a slot with various injection types and coolant feeding directions. The velocity distributions at the exit of slot lip for the parallel and vertical injection types are fairly uniform with mild periodical patterns with respect to the hole positions. However, the combined injection type increases the nonuniformity of flow distribution with the period equaling twice that of hole-to-hole pitch due to splitting and merging of the ejected flows. The secondary flow at the lip exit has uniform velocity distributions for the parallel and vertical injection types, which are similar to the results of a two-dimensional slot injection. In the results of local heat/mass transfer coefficient, the best cooling performance inside the slot is obtained with the vertical injection type among the three different injection types due to the effect of jet impingement. The lateral distributions of Sh with the parallel- and counter-flow paths are more uniform than the normal flow path. The averaged Sh with the injection holes are $2{\sim}5$ times higher than that of a smooth two-dimensional slot path.

FLOW CHARACTERISTICS OF A TWO-DIMENSIONAL NEUTRALLY BUOYANT JET IN A MODEL SETTLING TANK

  • In this study, laboratory experiments were performed to investigate the flow characteristics of a two-dimensional neutrally buoyant jet in the inlet region of a rectangular laboratory settling tank. Velocity measurements were made with a three-component ADV. Two types of baffles were installed in front of two-dimensional slot; a one-sided and a two-sided baffle. The flow fields from a plane jet impinging on these two types of baffles and a plane jet without a baffle showed quite different characteristics. To concentrate on investigating these flow characteristics, the effects of density currents due to temperature difference or the presence of sediments were not studied. Results of the experiments reveal that the use of the two-sided baffle results in the shortest inlet region. Also shown is that, in addition to the types of baffles, the Froude number turns out to be an important factor in the extent of the inlet region.

국내 이유자돈사 환기시설 실태 조사 (The Survey for Ventilation Systems of Weaned Pig House in Korea)

  • This survey was conducted to give the basic information for ventilation systems of weaned pig house to establish the acceptable ventilation system in Korea. A total of 11 farms were surveyed in this study and 1 more farm in each province was regionally selected. The general information, inlet and outlet ventilation system, alley in house, space allowance of weaned pigs and manure management were surveyed. Space allowance of weaned pig in 82% of surveyed farms met the legal standard. Side wall inlet and outlet ventilation system were 82% and 73% of surveyed farms, respectively. Moreover, 73% farms have alley in the pig house to control temperature of inlet air. In this survey, both planar slot and circular duct inlet system and side wall fan outlet system could be a favorable ventilation system in weaned pig house.

코팅 공정에서 공기를 고려한 코터형상 및 운전조건에 따른 코팅현상 해석 (Computer Simulation of Coating Behavior Including Air for Various Coater Geometries and Operational Conditions)

  • Slot coating has been wide spread in photo-resist coating on the glass for liquid crystal display. Die in slot coater consists of manifold and land. Material comes in inlet of the die and flow into the manifold and then flow out through the land. The coating thickness variations along the die length depend upon inside of die design such as manifold and die land. However the coating thickness variations along the moving direction(coating direction) of the coater depend upon the operational conditions of coater as well as die lip design. The coating behaviors including atmospheric air have been investigated in this study. Die geometries considered in this study were nozzle gap and length of the die lip. Coating gap and coating speed were the variables fur coating operational conditions. When the nozzle gap and length of die lip increased climbing effect of PR on the downstream die lip was reduced. Subsequently uniformity of coating thickness improved. Uniformity of coating thickness also enhanced as coating gap and coater speed increased. The uniformity of coating gap was related to the velocity vector distributions on the coating surface.

  • Shape optimization of an upper plenum of PBMR type gas cooled nuclear reactor has been performed by using three-dimensional Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) analysis and surrogate modeling technique. The objective function is defined as a linear combination of uniformity of flow distribution in the core and pressure drop in the upper plenum and the core. The ratio of thickness of slot to diameter of rising channels, ratio of height of upper plenum to diameter of rising channels, and ratio of eight of the slot at inlet to outlet, are used as design variables for optimization. Design points are selected through Latin-hypercube sampling. The optimal point is determined through surrogate-based optimization method which uses 3-D RANS analyses at design points. The results show that the optimum shape represent remarkably improved performance in flow uniformity and friction loss than the reference shape.
