Broadband 90° Schiffman Phase Shifter Using Slot-Coupled Lines (슬롯-결합 선로를 이용한 광대역 90° 쉬프만 위상천이기)

  • In this paper, an improved Schiffman phase shifter is proposed using slot-coupled lines. It consists of the typical coupled lines and a simple rectangular slot which is placed in the ground plane underneath the coupled lines. Phase responses of the slot-coupled Schiffman phase shifter are analyzed in consideration of the phase velocity of two independent transmission modes and the characteristic impedance of slot-coupled line. The $905^{\circ}$ Schiffman phase shifters with high impedance ratio is realized at 2.4 GHz, which cannot be implemented with the conventional coupled lines. The measured results show that the bandwidth is around 74.2 % within the phase errors ${\pm}5^{\circ}$. The measured return loss is found to be better than 15.0 dB and insertion loss is less than 1.5 dB over the operating frequency band.

  • This paper deals with the stator design solution of a synchronous reluctance motor (SynRM) with various slot numbers by loss & torque characteristics related to the slot open and teeth width using coupled Preisach modeling & FEM. The coupled Finite Elements Analysis (FEA) & Preisach model have been used to evaluate the nonlinear solution. Comparisons are given with characteristics of SynRM according to stator winding, slot number, slot open and teeth width variation.

  • A new type of collinear antenna called short-ended coaxial slot-coupled strip array antenna is investigated theoretically. The antenna has an advantage of structural simplicity. The integral equations are derived for the proposed structure by use of the Fourier transform and mode expansion, and the simultaneous linear equations are obtained. The slot electric field and strip current are then obtained by solving the simultaneous linear equation. The effects of slot and strip number on the radiation efficienty, beamwidth and directivity gain are also presented.

  • A coupled microstrip-slot line is analyzed using a full wave method in the specral domain. The characteristics of the coupled microstrip-slot line are obtained based on the Galerkin`s method. The characteristics of even mode by microstrip line and odd mode by slot line are calculated respectively. Especially the singularity of basis function is enforced to be considered with respect of modes. Numerical results are compared with available data and shown good agreement.

  • In this paper, a 2~18 GHz wideband 6-port network is designed and fabricated to extend the measurement frequency bandwidth of noise parameter measurement method using 6-port network. In order to design a broadband 6-port network, a wilkinson power divider and a directional coupler with wideband characteristics are designed. The wilkinson power divider is designed as a three-section structure to achieve wideband characteristics. The direction coupler is designed as a three-section structure and slot-coupled structure using multi-layer substrate to obtain wideband characteristics. A wideband 6-port network is designed and fabricated combining the designed power divider and coupler. The measured results of the fabricated 6-port network for the 2~18 GHz band show characteristics applicable to the noise parameter measurement method.

  • This paper deals with the characteristic Analysis of synchronous reluctance motors (SynRMs) using coupled Preisach modeling & FEM. The focus of this paper is the characteristic Analysis relative to Inductances and losses on the basis of stator slot number, winding in SynRMs. The coupled Finite Elements Analysis (FEA) & Preisach model has been used to evaluate the nonlinear solution. Comparisons arc given with characteristics of normal distributed winding SynRM and those according to stator slot number, winding in concentrated winding SynRM, respectively.

  • In this paper, the slot coupled stacked microstrip antenna, which has wide bandwidth characteristics because of the double tuning effects from the interactions between two patches and feeding slot and improves distortions of radiation patterns due to spurious radiation from feeder, is analyzed. For the analy- sis Green function in the spectrum domain and Galerkin method is applied with an accurate analysis mode for slot coupled feeding structure using the scattering analysis method. The basis functions are 3 EB modes for patches and 5 PWS modes for feeder. The slot coupled stacked microstrip antennas are designed and fabricated with the center frequency of 11.5 Ghz and 12.0 GHz. The experimental results show the wide bandwidth characteristics of 1.9 ~ 2.2 GHz and agree well with the simulation results which have 15~20% bandwidth.

  • Several stubs are added to a rectangular slot for giving an improvement in both return loss and isolation for a slot-coupled microstrip directional coupler. Its closed-form design equations are derived by velocity equalization of two normal modes and network equivalence. It was verified that nearly ideal performance is achievable by design examples.
