Efficient Analysis of Couplings through Periodically Arranged Slots in a Radial Line Slot Antenna (RLSA 설계를 위한 주기적으로 배열된 슬롯을 통한 결합의 효율적인 해석)

  • The slot coupling characteristics was analysed in a radial-line slot antenna for its design. The previously proposed waveguide model with a periodic boundary condition on its narrow walls and periodically arranged slots on its wide wall was used. The magnetic field integral equation and two dyadic Green\`s functions for respective regions was derived and the method of moments was used. To maximize the efficiency of numerical analysis and to extract singularities, two different kinds of basis functions, the entire domain basis function and the sub-domain one, are used. In addition, the Ewald sum technique for the rectangular waveguide and the Shanks transform for the half space were used to accelerate the computation of the slowly convergent potential Green\`s functions. Simulation results expressed the effects of the various design parameters on the slot coupling.

  • In this paper, a simple design method is represented for a contiguous-band waveguide manifold diplexer which employs a half-wavelength line at the input port of the singly terminated bandpass filterand has resonant-slot coupled E-plane T-junctions. This design method is based on the fact that the input impedance characteristics of the singly terminated bandpass filter are approximately unchanged when a resonant slot and a half-wavelength line at the input port of the filter are employed. This design method is also applicable to the design of the multiplexer. A contiguous-band waveguide manifold diplexer using the post coupled cavity filters is designed, constructed, and tested. The computed and experimental results show the validity of the theory.

  • A new technique is proposed for suppressing sidelobes due to the wave reflected from the waveguide end in the traveling-wave slot array. In this approach we use multiple waveguide steps intend of the conventional matched load, To show the validity of the proposed method, a Ku-band slotted waveguide is fabricated and tested. Measurements confirm the excellent sidelobe suppressing capability of the proposed method.

  • In this paper, the design of longitudinal shunt slot array monopulse antenna in the broad wall of waveguide for Ka band millimeter-wave seeker, Dip-Brazing method for fabrication and experiment results are presented. The proposed antenna consists of radiating slots by using Elliot's array synthesis procedure, probe-exciting feed structure for improving the return loss bandwidth and monopulse comparator. Element weigthings in the array have been calculated by continuous Taylor aperture distribution. Also, the simulation tool has been used to characterize the individual isolated slot, which has subsequently been used in Elliot's method to design the slot array efficiently. The designed antenna is fabricated using Dip-Brazing method. The gain of measured antenna is 28.4 dBi. Antenna beamwidth and side lobe levels are similar to the design result we expect.

  • In this paper, we proposed a divided two-arms spiral slot antenna fed by coplanar waveguide using the magnetic flow at slots. This antenna has characteristics of which one is to short-circuit at the end of the slot and another is to turn spirals separately. To reduce the offset of magnetic flow, two spiral slots are fed by 1800 phase difference. Because we proposed a printed two-arms spiral slot antenna without a balun circuit, antenna size become smaller substantially. And frequency characteristics are studied using the various design parameters. The bandwidth of the realized antenna is $2.7{\sim}12\;GHz$ below the return loss of -10 dB.

  • This paper presents an analysis of a slot on the broad wall of a rectangular waveguide using the 3D FDTD method. In order to reduce the reflection loss, Mur's 2nd absorbing boundary condition is used. To realize the optimum design by FDTD, the effects of time step, excitation aperture size, analysis region and excitation position in model are derived. The analysis results are compared with the experimental results and they show a good agreement with each other.

  • In this paper, a waveguide-fed slot-coupled microstrip antenna is proposed as enhanced feeding structure of microstrip antenna and an analysis is presented. The presence of dielectric substrate between a stripand a slot is explicitly taken into account in this analysis. The evaluation of the antenna characteristics is carried out using the method of mements and the spectral domain approach in terms of the electric current distribution on the strip and the magnetic current distribution on the slot. From the results, we can conclude that the proposed structure is adequate for array antennas, due to ease of mass porduction and enhanced anteena performance.

  • The effects of ring radius and coupling spacing on the free spectral range (FSR), full width at half maximum (FWHM), quality factor, and sensitivity of single-channel and add-drop channel slot ring resonators were systematically investigated using FIMMPROP and PICWAVE numerical software. The single-channel ring resonator exhibited better characteristics, namely, a wider FSR and narrower FWHM compared with the add-drop structure; thus, it was evaluated to be more suitable for biochemical sensors. The FSR, FWHM, quality factor, and sensitivity for a single channel ring resonator with a radius of 59.4 ㎛ and coupling gap of 0.5 ㎛ were 2.4 nm, 0.087 nm, 17677, and 550 [nm/RIU], respectively.

  • This paper presents the structure of a broadband coplanar waveguide(CPW) fed square slot antenna with a impedance bandwidth tuning patch. The designing method of the antenna suggests that two resonant frequencies are excited as a dual-frequency dipole antenna following the dimensions of the square slot. In other words, the lower resonant frequency mainly depends on the slot width and the higher one its length. A CPW fed square slot antenna with a impedance tuning patch was measured to $20GHz^\~33GHz$, $50\%$, VSWR=2 impedance bandwidth by adjusting the dimensions of the tuning patch when the slot length had $70\%$ of its width. This result shows that a medical CPW fed antenna is easily implemented with a simple square slot structure including a bandwidth tuning patch in the center.

  • In this paper, we propose a $4{\times}8$ SIW(Substrate Integrated Waveguide) slot array antenna for dual-polarized phased array system. The basic part of the array is a subarray comprising an vertical-polarization and horizontal-polarization. A vertical-polarization slotted SIW single-polarization linear array. Using SIW, A vertical polarization linear array consists of 8 uniform longitudinal slots and 4-way SIW feeding network. Using HMSIW, horizontal-polarization linear array consists of 8 slots and 4-way SIW feeding network.
