To describe the performance of an antenna, some parameters are necessary. Some of the parameters are interrelate and not all of them must be specified for complete description of antenna performance. The parameters in characteristics of printed antenna for this analysis are radiation pattern, input impedance, VSWR, S parameter and electromagnetic field. In this paper we will consider two shaped of slot antennas one is triangular slot antenna and other is L - shape slot antenna for compare the radiation pattern, return loss, and VSWR. Two slot antennas are designed to have a resonant frequency at 10 GHz. The microstrip line is designed to be 50 ohms in order to match the measurement system, it has the substrate of the thickness = 1.52 mm and dielectric constant (${\varepsilon}_r$) 2.17. The problem space in the FDTD analysis are $60{\times}123{\times}100$ cells for L-shape slot antenna and $50{\times}171{\times}120$ cells for triangular slot antenna with the cell dimensions ${\Delta}x=0.152\;mm.$, ${\Delta}y={\Delta}z=0.15\;mm.$

Traffic unbalance between uplink and downlink is one of the most notable characteristics in the next generation cellular mobile systems which provide multimedia services such as voice and video telephony, high-speed internet access, and mobile computing, etc. The CDMA/TDD system with unbalanced slot allocation between two links is a good solution for the traffic unbalance in this paper, we formulate the time slot and channel allocation problem for the CDMA/TDD systems in general multicell environments, which is to maximize the system capacity under the given traffic unbalance, and solve that problem by simulated annealing technique. Computational experiments show that the proposed scheme yields a good performance.

A method to improve isolation characteristics of internal MIMO antenna systems for wireless portable devices operating in the $2.3{\sim}2.4$ GHz band is presented. The proposed system incorporates multiple pairs of L-slots between the two antennas in the ground plane, which operate like a band-stop filter, suppressing mutual coupling between the antennas and resulting in improved isolation. A MIMO antenna system with 6 pairs of L-slots shows reflection loss of -26.4 dB and isolation of -37.5 dB.

In this paper, an asymmetric compact multiband slot antenna is proposed for global positioning system (GPS), worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX), and wireless area network (WLAN) applications. The top plane, a ground is composed of a rectangular slot with a trapezoidal-like stub, an inverted U-shaped slot at the right side of the rectangular slot, an inverted L-shaped slot at the left side of the rectangular slot, and three stubs. The proposed antenna is fed by an asymmetric cross-parasitic strip on the bottom plane. By properly designing the slots and stubs, four resonant frequency bands are achieved with -10 dB reflection coefficient bandwidths of 50 MHz, 400 MHz, 390 MHz, and 830 MHz in the 1.57 GHz GPS band, 2.4 GHz WLAN band, 3.5 GHz WiMAX band, and 5.5 GHz WLAN bands, respectively. The antenna has a total compact size of $13mm{\times}32mm{\times}0.8mm$. Simulated and measured results indicate that the proposed antenna has sufficient bandwidth and good radiation performance in each band.

In this paper, we investigate the effect of pulse repetition frequency (PRF) and slot interval on the throughput performance of the ultra wide band (UWB) wireless communication system in multi-path channels, and based on these observations, a data throughput control using PRF and slot interval is proposed for maximizing the effective throughput. Recently, due to many desirable features of the UWB system, it has drawn much attention especially for short-range high-speed data transmission. The UWB system has two parameters to determine its data throughput; pulse repetition frequency and slot interval. In the multi-path channel with additive white Gaussian noise, the UWB system suffers from the inter-pulse interference (IPI) and noise, which result in degradation of system performance. The UWB system can vary the two parameters to maintain and/or improve the system performance. In this paper, we demonstrate the effects of the two parameters on the data throughput of the UWB system in various multi-path indoor channels through computer simulation, and show that the variable data rate approach designed based on the observations is superior to the fixed data rate one in terms of effective throughput performance.

On-line diagnosis system has been developed and is now applied the detection of shorted turns in the field winding of large generator. This system consists of data aquisition system and display PC. The data aquisition system detects voltage waveforms from flux probe sensor installed in the stator slot. The display PC shows theshorted-turn situation of generator rotor winding. A shorted-turn diagnosis test wasperformed on five gas turbine generators at the Seoinchon combined cycle power plant. The test was conducted using an new diagnosis system and digital oscilloscope which can identify the pole location, the slot number and the number of shorted turns within each slot. It is confirmed that results of two systems are very same in the field tests.

Since the TD-SCDMA (Time Division-Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access) system is based on TDD (Time Division Duplexing), the uplink and downlink can be allocated asymmetrically according to the traffic e.g. Web browsing. Although this asymmetric allocation can increase the frequency utilization, it may cause time slot opposing, which implies the time slot is assigned in opposing direction between cells. The time slot opposing can generate significant interference between cells, which results in severe performance degradation. In the paper, a novel dynamic channel allocation (DCA) is proposed in the TD-SCDMA system, to mitigate the impact of time slot opposing considering smart antenna. When the smart antenna is applied in the system, the inter-cell interference is largely affected by beam pattern and beam direction between neighboring cells. Therefore, the time slot opposing and smart antenna should be considered together in the DCA. The intensive simulations show that the proposed scheme can improve the system capacity compared to the conventional DCA schemes.

In EPCglobal Class-1 Gen-2 RFID system, a slot-count selection algorithm has been proposed to determine the slot-count size depending on the status of reply slot. In the slot-count selection algorithm of Gen-2, the slot-count value is increased or decreased by the weight C, which is identical and independent of the slot status. It has an advantage that the algorithm is simple, but it is difficult to maintain an optimal slot-count size. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an adaptive slot-count selection algorithm, which applies the parameter C differently based on the result of tag replies. Through simulations, it is demonstrated that the collision rate for the proposed scheme is about 42% and 65% lower than the schemes proposed by Wang and Gen-2. Therefore, the adaptive slot-count selection algorithm achieves faster tag identification time compared with the existing algorithms due to the low collision rate.
This paper, designed UWB elliptical slot antenna and analysis based on the distribution of the electromagnetic fields pattern and resonant mode of designed antenna is presented. Designed antenna is fabricated on FR4 substrate with thickness of 1.524mm and relative dielectric constant 4.4. The measured bandwidth of $3.6GHz{\sim}20GHz$ for VSWR<2. Through the field pattern and resonant mode analysis that the slot antenna operates on a series of the multi-pole radiation based on TE modes matched to system impedance. And the perfect magnetic wall is along the axis of symmetry on the y-z plane. This result gives us an easier method to design the similar antennas, which is the impedance matching to the system impedance after once constructing a proper structure with a series of multi-mode resonances.

In Gen-2 RFID system, the initial value of $Q_{fp}$, which is the slot-count parameter of Q-algorithm, is not defined in the standard. In this case, if the number of tags within the reader's identification range is small and we let the initial $Q_{fp}$ be large, the number of empty slot will be large. On the other hand, if we let the initial $Q_{fp}$ be small in spite of many tags, almost all the slots will be collided. As a result, the performance will be declined because the frame size does not converge to the optimal point quickly during the query round. In this paper, we propose a scheme to allocate the optimal initial $Q_{fp}$ through the tag number estimation before the query round begins. Through computer simulations, it is demonstrated that the proposed scheme achieves more stable performance than Gen-2 Q-algorithm.
