  • TD-SCDMA combines TDMA and CDMA components to provide more efficient use of radio resources. However, since the same frequency band is used in both the uplink and downlink, serious interference may occur if the base stations are not synchronized. The interference caused by different transmission directions between neighboring cells is called cross-slot interference. This paper proposes a data rate control algorithm that can decrease the cross-slot interference in TD-SCDMA.

  • This paper deals with the analysis of vibration and noise sources in a modular-type SPM fractional-slot motor. To reduce cogging torque, torque ripple and unequal radial force, which are the main causes of the electromagnetic vibration, the optimal shape of notch and magnet are designed.

  • In this Paper, an improved L-Expressnet Protocol is proposed by supplementing slot-extension function. This protocol is Proposed to complement the shortcomings of the conventional protocol which is used for the medium access control (MAC) in LAN. We analyzed the protocol in channel utilization viewpoint and compared the result with that of the conventional L-Expressnet medium access control (MAC) protocol. From this result. we showed that the channel utilization of the improved L-Expressnet protocol added slot-extension function is superior to that of the conventional Protocol.

  • In this paper, a modifed TE$_{113}$/TM$_{012}$ triple-mode bandpass filter is implemented by using a modified inter-cavity iris in which the number of slots are reduced upto 50%. In a coventioanl iris two prirs of slot apertures are used to independently couple three resonant modes between two adjacent cavities. However, if transverse magnetic polarizability of a pair of veritcal slot apertures is used to control weak horizontal TE$_{h}$-TE$_{h}$ mode coupling, the width of novel iris slots would substitute for the slot length of the conventional iris, causing to eliminate the horizontal slot apertures. The measured data of two filters, which are the modified filter and ocnventional one, are compared. Experimental result shows that the characteristics of the novel triple-mode filter matches well that of the conventional filter.

Optimal Design of a PMLSM with 9 Pole 10 Slot for Detent Force Reduction (9극 10슬롯 구조의 영구자석 선형 동기 전동기의 디텐트력 저감을 위한 최적설계)

  • Detent force of a permanent magnet linear motor(PMLSM) consist of cogging and drag forces, and should be minimized for high precision control purpose applications. This paper shows that the cogging force can be reduced effectively by employing 9 pole 10 slot structure. The drag force is minimized by optimizing the total length and shape of the exterior teeth of armature core simultaneously by using($1+{\lambda}$) evolution strategy coupled with response surface method. After optimization, the optimized PMLSM is proven to reduce 95% and 92.6% of the cogging and total detent forces, respectively, and give 12% and 6.4% higher Back-emf and thrust force, respectively, compared with a conventional 12 pole 9 slot structure under the same condition. Additionally, Simulation results by the proposed optimum design are verified by the experiment results.

Design of wideband microstrip monopole slot antenna (광대역 마이크로스트립 모노폴 슬롯안테나의 설계)

  • In the present study, wideband microstrip monopole slot antennas which can be applied to the RF4CE Zigbee remote controller are designed. First I-shaped monopole slot antenna which has ${\lambda}g/4$ length at 2.45GHz is designed. In particular, a conducting via is used to connect the microstrip feed line and the ground plane surrounded with the etched slot for the bandwidth improvement. In order to reduce the antenna size, it is changed into L-shaped and T-shaped monopole slot antennas for which improve results of antenna performance are observed. In case of T-shaped monopole slot antenna, impedance bandwidth(VSWR<2) is about 3.32GHz, and also its radiation efficiency and gain is more than 90% and 2.1dBi respectively at whole operating frequency range. In particular, all of proposed monopole slot antennas have the end-fire radiations which has a maximum radiation power toward direction of open ends of monopole slots.

Model-based Design and Performance Analysis of Main Control Valve of Flap Control System (플랩제어시스템 주제어밸브의 모델기반 설계 및 성능해석)

  • The design of the main control valve, which is the main component of the flap control system, was based on actual manufacturing experience on the basis of trial and error method. In this paper, a model-based part design method is proosed. The flap control system consists of a main control valve, fail-safe valve, solenoid valve, LVDT and force motor. The main control valve consists mainly of a spool and slot. The important design parameters of the main control valve are the slot width, overlap and clearance. AMESim is linked to the model and it analyzes the flow path of the main control valve. Applying the proposed design procedure, it was confirmed that the required performance was satisfied within the allowable machining error range.

A Study on Sites Application of Non-open-cut Tunnel Method with Slot Holes in Steel Pipe Pumping (강관압입후 슬롯 홀을 갖는 비개착 터널공법의 현장적용에 관한 연구)

  • In the study, a new non-open cut tunnel steel pipe method using slot hole has been developed. As is overcomes shortcomings of conventional methods, it is applied to the field. The main concept of the new method is the steel pipe pumping system with slot holes which, by means of formation slot holes between each steel pipe, applied to the magnitude of the relaxed earth pressure caused by excavation to the ground to prevent ground displacement. The stability of the support members and effect of displacement control of the new method were verified through several ways as numerical analysis and site test. The new method was applied to the construction of a 11.5m wide, 7.4m high and 50m long section that passes side subway and large buildings in inner city. By applying the new method, tunnel construction was successfully completed in 6 months. It decreases the construction period to 30% compared to that of conventional methods, and ground was almost negligible.

Adaptive Input Traffic Prediction Scheme for Absolute and Proportional Delay Differentiated Services in Broadband Convergence Network

  • In this paper, an algorithm that provides absolute and proportional differentiation of packet delays is proposed with the objective of enhancing quality of service in future packet networks. It features an adaptive scheme that adjusts the target delay for every time slot to compensate the deviation from the target delay, which is caused by prediction error on the traffic to arrive at the next time slot. It predicts the traffic to arrive at the beginning of a time slot and measures the actual arrived traffic at the end of the time slot. The difference between them is utilized by the delay control operation for the next time slot to offset it. Because the proposed algorithm compensates the prediction error continuously, it shows superior adaptability to bursty traffic and exponential traffic. Through simulations we demonstrate that the algorithm meets the quantitative delay bounds and is robust to traffic fluctuation in comparison with the conventional non-adaptive mechanism. The algorithm is implemented with VHDL on a Xilinx Spartan XC3S1500 FPGA, and the performance is verified under the test board based on the XPC860P CPU.

  • This study is on the design and performance evaluation of a multi medium access control(MAC) protocol for multimedia access in the wireless ATM network. In general, MAC protocols for multimedia data transmission are classified into the fixed slot allocation algorithm that allocates base-station slots equally over terminals, and the dynamic slot allocation algorithm that with flexible penetration. The conventional slot allocation algorithms assign slots based on the average bandwidths required for various services types. Although the algorithms have a wide bandwidth for real-time-variant services, the slots are being wasted due the service types. To improve the slot waste problem, this thesis proposes a method that minimizes the waste by assigning variable slots based on the most appropriate bandwidth after a base-station analyzes the service type requested from terminals.
