  • DFB (Divergence Form for Bed slope source term) was rigorously derived and the error of mDFB using mean water depth at the cell face in DFB was clearly demonstrated. In addition, DFB technique turned out to be an exact method to the bed slope source term. The existing volume/free-surface relationship to the PSC (Partially Submerged Cell) has been corrected. It was discussed that treatment for the partially submerged edge is required to satisfy the C-property in PSC. It is expected that this study will provides a more accurate means in analyzing the shallow water equations with the approximate Riemann solver.

  • Precipitation on slope is separated into infiltration and outflow according to physical properties of soil and slope. However, the slope analysis is assumed that all precipitation are percolated. So, groundwater level is excessive tend to be calculated. In this paper, NRCS model and Horton models that have a suitability were used for agro-type analysis of Seoul station after precipitation was separated into infiltration and outflow. Also, gradient of slope was analyzed about seepage behavior and underground water level aspect through numerical analysis. After inclination correction, the estimated infiltration was compose of slopes much applied by domestic design standard. The change of groundwater level is appeared greatly as agro-type goes from D type to A type in the analysis results.

  • A new blockage correction method has been developed for the wall interference correction of closed test-section subsonic wind tunnels based on the nonlinear relationship between separation blockage and separation drag. This method can be applied continuously from the linear lift-slope region to the highly nonlinear post-stall region by on-line processing. The present method was validated by comparing the results with a classical method based on the test results of a bluff body and a measured-boundary-condition method. It was shown that the present method is in good agreement with the measured-boundary-condition method, enabling better wall corrections than the bluff body method in both near-stall and post-stall regions.

  • Wind tunnel test for the 12% scaled model of NREL Phase VI wind turbine was conducted in KARI low speed wind tunnel for $2006{\sim}2007$. The 1st and 2nd test was designed to find out the wind tunnel test method for the blade manufacturing accuracy and surface treatment method by using the composite and aluminum blades. And the 3rd test was designed to study the scale effect. The chord extension method which was used for Bo-105 40% scaled model was adapted for scale effect correction. Test results shows that the chord extension method works well for the torque slope but the maximum torque for scaled model is about 8% below than the real scale model. New correction method to correct this offset was proposed.

  • The transfer of predictive models using various chemometric techniques has been reported for FTNIR and scanning-grating based NIR instruments with respect relatively dry samples (<10% water). Some of the currently used transfer techniques include slope and bias correction (SBC), direct standardization (DS), piecewise direct standardization (PDS), orthogonal signal correction (OSC), finite impulse transform (FIR) and wavelet transform (WT) and application of neural networks. In a previous study (Greensill et at., 2001) on calibration transfer for wet samples (intact melons) across silicon diode array instrumentation, we reported on the performance of various techniques (SBC, DS, PDS, double window PDS (DWPDS), OSC, FIR, WT, a simple photometric response correction and wavelength interpolative method and a model updating method) in terms of RMSEP and Fearns criterion for comparison of RMSEP. In the current study, we compare these melon transfer results to a similar study employing pairs of spectrometers for non-invasive prediction of soluble solid content of peaches.

  • The effect of solar irradiance has been used to estimate daily maximum temperature, which make it possible to reduce the error inherent to lapse-rate based elevation difference correction in mountainous terrain. Still, recent observations indicated that the effect of solar radiation would need correction for estimation of daily maximum temperature. It was attempted to examine what would cause the variability of solar irradiance effect in determination of daily maximum temperature under natural field conditions and to suggest improved methods for estimation of the temperature distribution over mountainous regions. Temperature at 1500 and the wind speed for 1100 to 1500 were obtained at 10 validation sites with various topographical features including slope and aspect within a mountainous $50km^2$ catchment for 2012-2013. Lapse-rate corrected temperature estimates on clear days were compared with these observations, which would represent the differential irradiance effect among sloped surfaces. Results indicated a negative correlation between the mean wind speed and the estimation error. A simple scheme was derived from relationship between wind speed and estimation error for daily temperature to correct the effect of solar radiation. This scheme was incorporated into an existing model to estimate daily maximum temperature based on the effect of solar radiation. At 10 validation sites on clear days, estimates of 1500 LST temperature with and without the correction scheme were compared. It was found that a substantial improvement was achieved when the correction scheme was applied in terms of bias correction as well as error size reduction at all sites.

  • In medial opening wedge high tibial osteotomy (OWHTO), researchers have reported critical problems caused by unexpected changes in the tibial posterior-slope angle. This unexpected change can be analyzed, but there is no general solution for cases with an oblique hinge axis and cut plane. We propose a general analysis model for OWHTO. We first evaluate the effects according to variation in the hinge axis and tibial cut plane and then define an ideal correction axis. This ideal axis, called the virtual tibial correction axis, is not on the tibial cut plane in general. In this paper, we also present an evaluation of feasibility of the proposed analysis model.

  • The incidence of traffic accidents is increasing every year, and Korea is among the top OECD countries. In order to improve this, various road traffic laws are being implemented, and various traffic control methods using equipment such as unmanned speed cameras and traffic control cameras are being applied. However, as drivers avoid crackdowns by detecting the location of traffic control cameras in advance through navigation, a mobile crackdown system that can be cracked down is needed, and research is needed to increase the recognition rate of vehicle license plates on the side of the road for accurate crackdown. This paper proposes a method to improve the vehicle number recognition rate on the road side by applying a gradient correction algorithm using image processing. In addition, custom data learning was conducted using a CNN-based YOLO algorithm to improve character recognition accuracy. It is expected that the algorithm can be used for mobile traffic control cameras without restrictions on the installation location.

  • Accurate solar radiation data are critical to evaluate major physiological responses of plants. For most upland crops and orchard plants growing in complex terrain, however, it is not easy for farmers or agronomists to access solar irradiance data. Here we suggest a simple method using a sun-slope geometry based topographical coefficient to estimate daily solar irradiance on any sloping surfaces from global solar radiation measured at a nearby weather station. An hourly solar irradiance ratio ($W_i$) between sloping and horizontal surface is defined as multiplication of the relative solar intensity($k_i$) and the slope irradiance ratio($r_i$) at an hourly interval. The $k_i$ is the ratio of hourly solar radiation to the 24 hour cumulative radiation on a horizontal surface under clear sky conditions. The $r_i$ is the ratio of clear sky radiation on a given slope to that on a horizontal reference. Daily coefficient for slope correction is simply the sum of $W_i$ on each date. We calculated daily solar irradiance at 8 side slope locations circumventing a cone-shaped parasitic volcano(c.a., 570m diameter for the bottom circle and 90m bottom-to-top height) by multiplying these coefficients to the global solar radiation measured horizontally. Comparison with the measured slope irradiance from April 2007 to March 2008 resulted in the root mean square error(RMSE) of $1.61MJ\;m^{-2}$ for the whole period but the RMSE for April to October(i.e., major cropping season in Korea) was much lower and satisfied the 5% error tolerance for radiation measurement. The RMSE was smallest in October regardless of slope aspect, and the aspect dependent variation of RMSE was greatest in November. Annual variation in RMSE was greatest on north and south facing slopes, followed by southwest, southeast, and northwest slopes in decreasing order. Once the coefficients are prepared, global solar radiation data from nearby stations can be easily converted to the solar irradiance map at landscape scales with the operational reliability in cropping season.

  • This paper suggests linearity enhancement algorithm to Ensure safety of Mobile Walker on Slope. Mobile Walker happens to get off track due to external forces from Walker's weight and the degree of the slope while slope driving. In order to compensate this, this research used the controller that estimates the external forces according to the slope of road surface and adjusts it to the motor output. Also, through comparisons between targeted rotational angular velocity which the user inputs and its velocity of the robot, algorithm was applied which applies a weight to each shaft. As a result of applying the proposed correction controller, it diverges in case of non-compensation experiments that deviates when moving, but it case of applying the ramp calibration algorithm, the deviation distance at max was within 10cm that it keeps safe driving, and change rate of deviation distance was also stabilized after 1m where no more changes occurred.
