Effect of Caisson Tilting on the Sliding Distance of a Caisson under Wave Impacts and Introduction of the Effect into Computation of Sliding Distance

  • Based on the recent laboratory experiments (Kim et al. 2004), comparisons of caisson sliding distance are made between the computations and experiments. The time history model of wave force, which is proposed by Tanimoto et al. (1996), is modified in the standing wave part of horizontal and uplift wave forces because of the overestimation of the time history model. The comparison between experimental and computational sliding distance has showed that the caisson tilting increases the resistant force to the horizontal sliding. Therefore, a titling resistant force, which is caused by caisson tilting, is introduced into computation of sliding distance.

  • In this study we dealt with the relationship between the initial clamping force and the sliding distance in the wedge type rail clamp. The sliding distance is determined by the wedge angle and the initial clamping force. In order to derive the relation formula between the wedge angle and the sliding distance, we ad opt 5-kinds of the wedge angle, such as 2, 4, 6, 8, $10^{\circ}$. And then we analyze the effect of the initial clamping force on the sliding distance.

  • Through the single head kinematics, sliding distance is a movement of a pad within wafer. The sliding distance is very important to frictional heat, material removal, and so on. A Temperature distribution is similar to sliding distance. But is not same. Because of complex process factor in CMP. A platen velocity is a dominant factor in a temperature and material removal. WIWNU is low in head faster condition.

소파케이슨 방파제의 기대활동량 산정 (Calculation of Expected Sliding Distance of Wave Dissipating Caisson Breakwater)

  • 소파케이슨 방파제의 기대활동량 산정방법을 제안하였다. 소파케이슨의 활동량 산정을 위해 필요한 파력의 시계열은 기존에 개발된 소파케이슨의 정적 파력모델을 동적으로 확장하여 개발하였다. 충격파와 중복파의 구성은 지속시간 및 최대파력을 이용하여 구하였다. 수치해석에서는 제안방법에 의한 소파케이슨의 1파에 대한 활동량 및 50년간의 기대활동량을 직립케이슨에 적용하는 기존방법의 결과와 비교하였다. 비고결과 제안방법에 의한 소파케이슨의 활동량은 기존방법을 적용할 때보다 감소하는 것으로 나타났다.

  • 케이슨 방파제의 사용년수 동안의 기대활동량은 방파제의 안정성 평가 기준으로서 한계점이 있다. 기대활동량은 사용년수 동안의 모의 활동량의 평균으로 계산되기 때문에 실제 활동량은 평균을 초과할 가능성이 있다. 이를 극복하기 위해 허용활동량에 대한 초과확률을 산정하여 안정성을 평가하였다. 초과확률을 산정하기 위해 Latin Hypercube sampling과 Crude Monte Carlo simulation을 사용하였다. 또한 확률변수의 분포함수로 정규 분포가 가지는 단점을 해결하기 위해 이중절단정규분포를 사용하였다. 정규분포를 사용한 경우의 모든 한계상태에서 옥계항, 화순항, 동해 NI의 보강 전 단면은 불안정한 것으로 평가되었다. 한편, 이중절단정규분포를 적용한 경우에서 보수가능 한계상태의 화순항과 모든 한계상태의 동해 NI의 보강 전 단면만 불안정한 것으로 해석되었다. 결론적으로 안정성 평가 기준으로 기대활동량이 가지는 단점을 발견하였고 허용활동량에 대한 초과확률을 이용하여 국내 케이슨 방파제의 활동에 대한 안정성을 합리적으로 평가하였다.

A Study on the Sliding Distance and the Proper Position of Supporter with respect to the Wedge Angle in the Wedge Type Rail Clamp

  • The rail clamp is the device to prevent the crane slips along rails from the wind blast as well as to locate a container crane in the set position in operating mode. In this study we conduct the research for the sliding distance of rail clamp and the proper position of supporter with respect to the wedge angle in the wedge type rail clamp. The sliding distance to display the clamping force of the jaw pad corresponding to the design wind speed criteria is determined by the total displacement of the rail clamp at the roller center and the wedge angle. And the supporter is the device to prevent the overload which is applied on each part of the rail clamp by wind speed increment, because a clamping force is generated by the sliding of the wedge due to the wind. Accordingly the position of the supporter to prevent the overload is determined by analyzing the forces applied to the rail clamp. In order to analyze the sliding distance and the proper position of supporter with respect to the wedge angle as the wind speed is 40m/s, 5-kinds of wedge angles, such as 2, 4, 6, 8, $10^{\circ}$, were adopted as the design parameter.

  • The present study was undertaken to investigate the dry wear characteristics of die steel STD 11 for cold molding. The wear test was experimentally carried out under different conditions using a wear device, which was made in laboratory, and in which annular surfaces of wear testing specimens wear rubbed in dry sliding condition with varying the sliding speed, contact pressure, and sliding distance. The wear loss by variation of sliding speed was much in 0.3 m/sec and less in higher speed range above its sliding speed according to formation of the boundary lubrication film. The critical sliding speed with maximum value of the specific wear rate switched over to lower speed side according. as contact pressure increased. The critical sliding distance was increased with decrease in oxidation reaction velocity. The depth below subsurface showing maximum hardness (Hv) came out at the position, $60 \mu m$, of the maximum shear stress due to strain hardening.

  • Repeated sliding contact wear test was performed with copper specimens to obtain the relationship between wear and surface hardening. Wear surface and wear track section were observed by optical microscopy. Wear volume and micro-vikers hardness of sublayer below wear surface were obtained. These results suggested that wear mechanism depended on contact load than sliding velocity. Therefore wear mechanism was abrasive wear within critical contact load and adhesive wear over critical contact load. Wear rate increased with contact load, sliding distance but decreased with sliding velocity. Surface hardening increased with sliding velocity and sliding distance but decreased with contact load.

  • The plasma spray technics has known as one of the surface modification methods to improve the mechenical properties or the functional charactristics of materials. This paper has been aimed to investigate the effects of plasma sprayed conditions, such as spray distance and arc power level, on sliding wear properties of plasma sprayed $Al_2$O$_3$-40%TiO$_2$coating layer. The sliding wear test using pin-on-disc type wear machine, has been conducted in several sliding speed for coating layer sparyed under different conditions. The result of this paper is that the wear resistance of plasma sprayed $Al_2$O$_3$-40%TiO$_2$coating layer is fluctuated with tile spray distance and the arc power level. The wear resiatance could be improved with decreasing the spray distance and with increasing the arc power level.

  • In this paper, the ACC(Adaptive Cruise Control) method of Electric Vehicle using sliding mode controller is proposed. The IPMSM is safely controlled as safe distance using distance sensor at front of vehicle. The speed of EV is controlled to ensure safe distance using sliding mode controller. The sliding mode controller is suitable to apply nonlinear system like EV. In this paper, IPMSM speed control ability is verified by simulation using PSIM.
