Design of Dangsan Steel Railway Bridge(a part of Seoul Subway Line NO. 2), which is supposed to be replaced after its 15years survice, was done, and the reconstruction has begun in Dec. 1997. The design include new superstruc-ture and bridge piers, retrofitting of the foun-dation, rail system, electric and signal, etc. In this paper, design of the structure is mainly summarized. The main span superstructure, across Han river, is composite section which is com-posed of steel box and reinforced concrete deck slab with 9 span continuous. The superstructure for the approaches is bottom througth type 2-cell steel box girder with steel floor system and concrete deck slab with 3 or 4 span continuous. The bridge piers was planned to be reconstructed based upon the result from the various investi-gations, while the foundation(cassion and pile foundation) was planned to be retrofitted. For superstructure erection, the method of combination of barge bent and heavy lifting and the launching truss method was investigated for the main span and approach spans, respectively.
This paper highlights a case study that investigates the behaviour of existing bridge, West Terrace Bridge, induced by horizontal seismic loading. Unfortunately the lack of past information related to seismic activity within the NSW region has made it difficult to understand better the capacity of the structure if Earthquake occurs. The research was conducted through the University of Western Sydney in conjunction with Railcorp Australia, as part of disaster reduction preparedness program. The focus of seismic analyses was on the assessment of stress behaviour, induced by cyclic horizontal/vertical displacements, within the concrete slab and steel truss of the bridge under various Earthquake Year Return Intervals (YRI) of 1-100, 1-200, 1-250, 1-500, 1-800, 1-1000, 1-1500, 1-2000 and 1-2500. Furthermore the stresses and displacements were rigorously analysed through a parametric study conducted using different boundary conditions. The numerical analysis of the concrete slab and steel truss were performed through the finite element software, ABAQUS. The field measurements and observation had been used to validate the results drawn from the finite element simulation. It was illustrated that under a YRI of 1/1000 the bottom chord of the steel truss failed as the stress induced surpassed the ultimate stress capacity and the horizontal displacement exceeded the allowable displacement measured in the field observations whereas the vertical displacement remained within the previously observed limitations. Furthermore the parametric studies in this paper demonstrate that a change in boundary conditions alleviated the stress distribution throughout the structure allowing it to withstand a greater load induced by the earthquake YRI but ultimately failed when the maximum earthquake loading was applied. Therefore it was recommended to provide a gap of 50mm on the end of the concrete slab to allow the structure to displace without increasing the stress in the structure. Finally, this study has proposed a design chart to showcase the failure mode of the bridge when subjected to seismic loading.

The progressive collapse resistance performance of a steel structure constructed using the moment frame with the WUF-B connection and the composite slabs was evaluated. GSA 2003 was adapted for the evaluation. Additionally the structural robustness and the sensitivity against the progressive collapse were analyzed. In the numerical analysis, a reduced model comprised of the beam and spring elements for WUF-B connection was adapted. The composite slab was modeled using the composite-shell element. Instead of the time-consuming dynamic analysis for the effect of the sudden column removal, the equivalent energy-based static analysis was effectively applied. The analysis results showed that the structure was the most vulnerable to in the case of the internal column removal, however it satisfied the chord rotation criterion of GSA 2003 due to the contribution of the composite slab which improved the stiffness of structure. In the robustness evaluation, the structural performance showed more than 2.5 times of the requirement according to GSA 2003, and the structural sensitivity analysis indicated the decrease of 33% of the initial structural performance.
This paper describes a detailed assessment of the structural safety, serviceability, capacity rating and long-term performance of a glass fiber-reinforced polymer (GFRP) slab bridge superstructure. This first all-GFRP slab bridge was installed in Korea on May 2002. The GFRP slab bridge is a simply supported, its length is 10.0 m, and is designed to carry two-lane traffic and has an overall width of 8.0m. The GFRP slab bridge is a sandwich structure with a corrugated core, fabricated by hand lay-up process with E-glass fibers and vinyl ester resins. The assessment of long-term performance for the GFRP slab bridge in 2004, 2011 includes a field load testing identical to that performed in 2002. The assessment indicates that the GFRP slab bridge has no structural problems and is structurally performing well in-service as expected. The assessment may provide a baseline data for the capacity ratings assessment of the GFRP slab bridge and also serve as part of a long-term performance of all-GFRP bridge superstructure.

This research aims to analyze of prestressed composite hollow-core slab and box type steel beam. The smeared crack model used in abaqus for the modeling of hollow core reinforced concrete, including cracking of the concrete, rebar and concrete interaction using the tension stiffening concept, and rebar yield. The structure modeled is a simply supported hollow core spancrete slab subjected spa-h beams and prestressed in one direction. The hollow core spancrete slab is subjected to four-point bending. The concrete-rebar interaction that occur as the concrete begins to crack are of major importance in determining the spancrete slab's response between its initial, deformation and its collapse. This smeared crack model used in analysis involved non-liner concrete analysis concept.
In this study, the structure behavior of RC slab and SC shear wall connection was investigated. Also experimental study was performed to evaluate the factor of safety of demand shear connection strength in KEPIC SNG Standard. As a result, shear friction strength of connection was known about 300kN and shear strength of rebar increased according to the displacement increase. With the installment of the lower rebars, 40% shear strength increased compared to the non-rebar specimen.

Recently, there have been increased mush concerns about repair and rehabilitation works for aged concrete structures to keep up with rapid economic growth in Korea since the early 1970's. In particular, it is believed in these days that there are significantly increasing number of aged concrete bridge slabs, which are strongly needed to construct and rehabilitate by innovative construction method. The objective of this research is to develop the new construction method of concrete slab in bridge structure, which can contribute to minimize the traffic congestion during the repair and rehabilitation works of aged concrete slab, and can also sufficiently assure the quality through the minimization of in-situ works at the site. I-beams with punch holes, which are substituted instead of main reinforcing steels in concrete slabs, will be manufactured in accordance with the specification in the factory, and will be preassembled into the panel. After erecting the preassembled panels in the site, concrete will be poured into the slab panel. This test is to investigate physical properties of I-Beam with punch holes itself, and then to investigate structural properties of assembled I-Beam panels through static and fatigue test, of which can be utilized for the development of new construction method of concrete slab in bridge structure.

In this study, examined heavy-weight floor impact sound to rahmen structure(steel reinforced concrete structure) and bearing-wall structure(box frame type structure) that have slab thickness of 4 form at a standard laboratory through noise and vibration measured. The results of ANSYS modeling of structures was predicted that the nature natural frequency increased according to change of thickness of each slab by finite element analysis, and acceleration value decreased. Rahmen structures compares with bearing-wall structure, nature frequency was predicted low. Measurement results of natural frequency and acceleration level for structures at a standard laboratory, tendency department such as ANSYS modeling appeared. Rahmen structures appeared that reduction effect is less in Acceleration level and heavy impact sound transmission level comparing with bearing-wall structure.
Incremental dynamic analysis (IDA) widely uses for the collapse risk assessment procedures of buildings. In this study, an IDA-based collapse risk assessment methodology is proposed, which employs a novel approach for detecting the near-collapse (NC) limit state. The proposed approach uses the modal pushover analysis results to calculate the maximum inter-story drift ratio of the structure. This value, which is used as the upper-bound limit in the IDA process, depends on the structural characteristics and global seismic responses of the structure. In this paper, steel midrise intermediate moment resisting frames (IMRFs) have selected as case studies, and their collapse risk parameters are evaluated by the suggested methodology. The composite action of a concrete floor slab and steel beams, and the interaction between the infill walls and the frames could change the collapse mechanism of the structure. In this study, the influences of the metal deck floor and autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) masonry infill walls with uniform distribution are investigated on the seismic collapse risk of the IMRFs using the proposed methodology. The results demonstrate that the suggested modified IDA method can accurately discover the near-collapse limit state. Also, this method leads to much fewer steps and lower calculation costs rather than the current IDA method. Moreover, the results show that the concrete slab and the AAC infill walls can change the collapse parameters of the structure and should be considered in the analytical modeling and the collapse assessment process of the steel mid-rise intermediate moment resisting frames.
In order to study the fatigue performance of the flat steel plate-lightweight aggregate concrete hollow composite bridge slab subjected to fatigue load, both static test on two specimens and fatigue test on six specimens were conducted. The effects of the arrangement of the steel pipes, the amplitude of the fatigue load and the upper limit as well as lower limit of fatigue load on failure performance were investigated. Besides, for specimens in fatigue test, strains of the concrete, residual deflection, bending stiffness, residual bearing capacity and dynamic response were analyzed. Test results showed that the specimens failed in the fracture of the bottom flat steel plate regardless of the arrangement of the steel pipes. Moreover, the fatigue loading cycles of composite slab were mainly controlled by the amplitude of the fatigue load, but the influences of upper limit and lower limit of fatigue load on fatigue life was slight. The fatigue life of the composite bridge slabs can be determined by the fatigue strength of bottom flat steel plate, which can be calculated by the method of allowable stress amplitude in steel structure design code.
