  • The skin condition after dermatological surgery can be changed. As the laser light penetrates into the skin during the procedure it will activate biomolecules which are the cause of the related redness. In addition, it can parch sensitive skin and worsen itching and flaking. The original intention of 'BB cream' is for soothing sensory skin, but not for make-up. The commonly used 'BB cream' is suitable for all skin types and are targeted specially to those who have sensitive and acne-prone skin. It has the advantages of both skin-care and make-up as it improves the skin condition and evens out the skin tone while providing coverage for redness spots and other blemishes. Our study focuses to give the make-up function that naturally correct the brightness and contrast of redness skin, to realize the skin-care function that is effective against sensitive skin.

  • We measured change of peripheral skin temperature and mean skin temperature when the upper arm and thigh pressured in order to know the effect of skin pressure applied by clothing on blood circulation. After release from pressure, we observed also recovery condition. At the same time, we examined relation between pressure and a feeling of tightness. Three physiques of healthy females, namely slender, standard and plump, served as subjects. We used intermittent method with skin pressure applied by experimental fabric at l-minute intervals. Besides we made a comparative study with results according to different restraint method (continuous method and intermittent method). As a result of this experiment, we obtained following findings. 1. The significant difference was marked at the pressure, measuring time, physique and measuring region with change of skin temperature under upper arm and thigh restraint by intermittent method. The peripheral skin temperature decreased with the lapse of restraint time. A remarkable tendency observed according to the. increase of restraint pressure. Recovery condition after release from pressure not yet recovered to original state, for all after a lapse of 10 min. The mean skin temperature decreased with the lapse of restraint time in case of upper arm restraint, it was not an obvious tendency except 60mmHg under thigh restraint. 2. Main factor affecting the evaluation of a feeling of tightness was restraint pressure, when the upper arm and thigh restraint by intermittent method. The respondence rate of 'very tight' grew larger according to the increase of restraint pressure. The value of pressure sensation declined after restraint ten times as compared with one time, but there was difference according to restraint pressure. 3. We reexamined change of skin temperature and feeling of tightness by different restraint method(continuous method and intermittent method). The results were as follows. 1) The skin temperature decreased more greatly during skin pressure by continuous method than intermittent method, especially in the peripheral. Without different restraint method, the skin temperature of slender plysique decreased more greatly than that of plump physique. 2) The value of pressure sensation by intermittent method was highly on both sites of upper arm and thigh.

  • We are made up to the variation of the structure modeling of the stratum corneum by the skin on the hydration. The given skin structure is consist of the control level of the intercellular route and transcellular route, and is confirmed to the variation of the modeling for algorithm. Hydration condition is consisted to modeling by the size, form and combination, that skin impedance is appeared to result the value of measurement by the several layer such as forms of ${\xi}-R-SC-RH$, ${\xi}-R-SL-RH$, ${\xi}-R-SG-RH$, ${\xi}-R-SS-RH$ and ${\xi}-R-SB-RH$. Hydration condition is showed to the alteration difference value of S-Corneum, S-Lucidum, S-Granulosum, S-Spinosum and S-Basale. And, composition condition was constructed with the alteration modeling that was established to separate the division parts for conversion system. We will be possible to progress the improvement effectiveness of the skin and to consist of the continuous hydration control system for functional on the skin. We will be possible to progress the improvement effectiveness of the skin and to consist of the continuous penetration control system for functional energy on the skin.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the differences in skin temperature and thermal comfort of participants in a $19^\circ{C}$ room (the recommended room temperature in the winter) depending on age, sex and clothing weight. Subjects were divided into four groups (6 young males, 5 young females, 6 old males, 6 old females) and experimental trials consisted of three conditions: wearing underwear in a $19^\circ{C}$ room (19CUW), without underwear in a $19^\circ{C}$ room (19C), and without underwear in a $24^\circ{C}$ room (24C). The results indicated the following: 1) There were no significant differences in mean skin temperature based on age or sex, and the mean skin temperatures of the four groups were in the range of 32.4∼$34.0^\circ{C}$. 2) In the 19C condition, the skin temperatures of the hands and feet of old females were higher than those of the other three groups. 3) In terms of perceived thermal comfort, young females showed a tendency to feel the most uncomfortable. Both old and young groups agreed that the 24C condition was the most comfortable. 4) Relational coefficients between thermal comfort and skin temperatures were higher in the young group than in the old group. Furthermore, the perceived thermal comfort had a stronger relationship with mean skin temperatures than with local skin temperatures. 5) The mean skin temperatures of subjects who indicated they were 'comfortable' were in the range of 31∼$36^\circ{C}$ regardless of age or sex.

  • Regardless of a patient's diagnosis, the care of his skin has been a primary concern of nurses throughout the years. Nurses has washed, dried, and rubbed the skin and have changed his position so as to keep the patient's skin in good condition and to protect him from pressure sores. However, we still find many-patients suffering from the pressure sores which may take many mothers or years of treatment and cost a lot to be repaired. In view of expensive cost for treatment of the sores and low ratios of nursing staff per patient for intensive nursing care, prophylaxis of the bed sores with sufficient aids is extremely important both for patients and for nurses. Therefore, the unique purpose of this study was to determine whether sponge is good enough to treat and prevent the pressure sore as compared with gel pad and sheepskin. Sixty patients in the age range of 15 through 45 who were in unconscious status or have difficulty of mobility were chosen between January and March of 1974 at Seoul National University Hospital. They were randomly assigned to each treatment and observed on every 4th day with regard to level of consciousness, status of mobility, moisture or dryness of the bed, general skin condition, intake of nutrition, vital signs and intervals of position change in comparison with the changes of skin over the bony prominences. The study results were reviewed in a statistical method analysis of valiance-to obtain the following findings: 1. There was no significantly different changes of skin over the sanctum or the trochanter in each group using get pad, sheepskin or sponge. It means that we may substitute sponge for expensive gel pad or sheepskin. 2. There was no significant difference among mean changes of patient's skin in relation to sheepskin, gel pad and sponge. 3. There was no significant changes of patient's akin in relation to level of consciousness, status of mobility, intake of nutrition, general skin condition, temperature, blood pressure or interval of position change. 4. There were no meaningful interactions between each treatment and level of consciousness, moisture or dryness of the bed, intake of nutrition, general skin condition, temperature or blood pressure. 5. Sheepskin and gel pad had significantly better influence on patients with limited mobility than on patients with immobility, and sponge on patients with immobility on than patients with limited mobility, 6. Sheepskin and sponge had meaningfully totter influence on patients changing position at below 2-hour interval, gel pad at 2-4-hour interval, sheepskin at 4-6-hour interval, and three of them at above 6-hour interval.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare 1% chlorhexidine-gluconate/61% ethanol (CHG/Ethanol) emollient and 7.5% povidone-iodine (PVI) scrub for antimicrobial, residual effect, and skin condition. Method: CHG/Ethanol emollient hand hygiene was performed waterless, and brushless by operating doctors and nurses (N=20). PVI hand washing was performed with water and a brush (N=20) for 5 min. The subjects were asked to press their left hand in hand-shaped agar before a surgical scrub, immediately after a surgical scrub and after the operation. The amount of isolated microorganisms were calculated by counting the number of divided areas($1{\times}1cm$, 160 cell) which were culture positive in the hand culture plate. The skin condition was evaluated. Result: The antimicrobial count of CHG/Ethanol emollient and PVI immediately post surgical scrub was 0.0 vs. 4.1 (p>.05), and after the operation was 0.1 vs. 37.8 (p>.05)respectively. The Residual effect of CHG/Ethanol emollient immediately post surgical scrub and after the operation were 0.0 vs. 0.1 (p>.05), and PVI were 4.1 vs. 37.8 (p>.05)respectively. The skin condition and satisfaction of CHG/Ethanol emollient was higher than PVI (p<.05). Conclusion: The antimicrobial effect between CHG/Ethanol emollient and PVI were the same. Considering skin condition, satisfaction and allergic reaction CHG/Ethanol emollient for surgical scrub is recommended in Korea.
