It is desirable that a wound healing membrane acts as a barrier for coverage of a damaged skin and has the biological activities such as anti-inflammatory effects. In this study, we prepared the hydrogel film containing the propolis nanoparticles as a wound healing membrane. The propolis nanoparticles were prepared by incorporation of propolis into the hydrophobic core of ${\gamma}$-cyclodextrin. The incorporation efficiency of propolis in the nanoparticles was $50{\pm}2.3%$. Propolis nanoparticles observed by a scanning electron microscope (SEM) were spherical with the size of 30~40 nm. The swelling behaviors of the hydrogel film containing propolis nanoparticles showed a similar pattern with the hydrogel film without propolis nanoparticles. The cumulative amount of propolis released from the hydrogel film containing propolis nanoparticles in the buffer of pH 7.4 and 5.5 was $86.0{\pm}2.0%$ and $64.6{\pm}1.0%$ of total propolis loaded in the hydrogel film within 9 h, respectively. These results provide a rationale for studying wound healing application of the hydrogel film containing propolis nanoparticles in a clinical setting.
Objectives : This paper examines the effects of Particulate Matter on human bodies and the possibility of treating them with Chinese or Korean medicines. Methods : This paper categorizes the diseases caused by Particulate Matter, as well as the causes, pathology, prevention methods, and effectiveness of treatments by Chinese and Korean medicines. Based on these results, it analyzes whether such diseases can be managed by Chinese and Korean medicine. Results : Particulate Matter is known to affect respiratory organs, skin, circulatory system, nervous system, gestational diabetes, and other parts of the human body. While studies show evidence that treatments by Chinese and Korean medicines can reduce symptoms of some diseases and improve bodily functions that are damaged by Particulate Matter, there is no statistically significant evidence that they can provide fundamental treatments nor treat irreversible damages. Conclusion : Currently, there is no definite evidence that Chinese and Korean medicine can treat symptoms and diseases caused by Particulate Matter. Therefore, some Korean medicine doctors' arguments that Korean medicine is effective in treating such diseases are problematic, and thus, there is a need for much research in this field.

Purpose: The epidermal cyst is a very common skin lesion which usually occurs in the hairy regions. They are generally small but rarely reach more than 5 cm in diameter. We present a patient with a giant epidermal cyst on buttock area. Methods: A 50-year-old man with a slowly enlarging, huge mass in his left buttock was examined. There was no history of trauma in this area. Physical examination revealed a soft, nontender, $15{\times}15cm$-sized mass in his left buttock. T1-weighted magnetic resonance images demonstrated a well-circumscribed, multilocular cystic lesion with homogeneous, slightly high signal intensity. On T2-weighted images the lesion had wide areas of high signal intensity. The mass was totally excised. Results: A histopathological finding revealed that the cystic wall was lined with whole layers of stratified squamous epithelium. Keratin layers from the surface of the epithelium were seen to be sloughing into the cystic lumen. Multinucleted giant cells were found outside the cystic wall. Conclusion: Herein we report a rare case of giant epidermal cyst occurring on the buttock.

Aspirin has usually been taken for pain relief originating in the nidus of osteoid osteoma, however it takes too long to become effective. Because of the protracted painful course and the unpredictability of regression, osteoid osteoma is usually removed. And then, the defective host bone is internally fixed by plate and screws and augumented by autogenous bone graft. However, the common intracortical location and exuberant periosteal reaction hinders the exact intraoperative localization of the nidus. The authors managed 6 patients by computerized tomography-guided percutaneous nidus excision with a relatively small skin incision, small cortical window, short operation time and no bone graft. It may be one of the best options for removal of the nidus of osteoid osteoma with certainty.
Acanthosis nigricans usually has the characteristics that involve the development of darker pigmented patches and thickened skin with velvety texture on the body folds, and papillomatosis on lip and intraoral regions including tongue, gingiva, mucosa, palate. Malignant acanthosis nigricans, a type of acanthosis nigricans, occurs most commonly in association with underlying malignancy and characterically appears with three characteristic mucocutaneous lesion : especially of the lips and eyelids, hyperkeratosis of the palms and soles, the sign of Leser-Trelat. In the present report, the patient had typical clinical and histological findings of oral acanthosis nigricans, as well as past medical history associated with malignant gastric adenocarcinoma.
We experienced a case of pleural effusion while treating postherpetic neuralgia in a 70 year old male patient. The patient had scar and color change on the skin along the course of the right Th4-5 intercostal nerve, characteristics of healed herpes zoster. The patient also complained of severe pain along the lesion site which made sleeping difficult. He had been treated with; epidural blocks with or without catheterization; epidural or regional corticosteroids; multiple intraspinal and intercostal blocks with local anesthetic; or neurolytic, alcohol, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, etc., for about six months by the time of pleural effusion development. We came to the conclusion that the effusion was due to pleural irritation by multiple intercostal nerve blocks, because it was bloody and developed on the affected right side, although the patient had a history of a certain hepatic pathology and pulmonary tuberculosis which may be a predisposing factor to the effusion.
Extrarenal Wilms' tumor is a very exceptional tumor which is defined as Wilms' tumor found anywhere other than in the kidneys. Until now less than 60 cases have been reported in the English literature. The tumor can be located in the retroperitoneum, inguinal canal, uterus, cervix, testes, skin and even in the thorax. The diagnosis is almost always made after surgical intervention. Distant metastasis of this tumor has only been reported in the case of a 6-year-old girl who developed Wilms' tumor in the inguinal canal with lung involvement. In this paper we report a case of extrarenal Wilms' tumor in retroperitoneum with distant metastasis to lungs, ribs and pelvic bone in a 6-year old male. The tumor was successfully removed without tumor cell spillage. The patient was diagnosed as favorable histologic group, in which the tumor consists of epithelial, blastemal and mesenchymal components without teratomatous elements. He received combination chemotherapy according to NWTS-IV guidelines and radiation to involved lungs, and has been alive and well for the last 6 months without severe complication or relapse.
Flavobacterium columnare (F. columnare), the dermotropic Gram negative yellow pigmented bacteria was isolated from different sites of skin ulcerations in the Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) and Nile catfish (Clarias gariepinus) collected from an earthen pond located at an aquaculture station in Sharkiya Province, Lower Egypt during an acute episode of mass kills during the early summer of 2009. An acute infection with F. columnare was behind the emergent event of mass mortalities among both populations. Many of the Nile tilapias exhibited typical signs of hole - in- the head like lesions from which F. columnare together with the myxosporean spore, Myxobolus tilapiae (M. tilapiae) were retrieved. Most of the cohabitating infected Nile catfishes exhibited severe form of saddle back like ulcer. The identities of the retrieved isolates were confirmed using morphological, biochemical and molecular tools. The research lead us to conclude that the two diverse etiological agents (F. columnare and M. tilapiae) under the triggering effect of the abrupt change in the water quality measures (abrupt rise in the water temperature, ammonia, pH, sharp decrease in dissolved oxygen) have synergized together to induce the above mentioned pathology with the consequent reemergence of fish mass mortalities.

Henoch-$Sch{\ddot{o}}nlein$ purpura (HSP) is the most common vasculitis in children, mainly affecting the small vessels of the skin, joints, gastrointestinal tract, and kidneys. Although most cases of HSP resolve spontaneously without sequelae, serious nephrological and intestinal problems may occur in some cases. We experienced a case of HSP complicated by simultaneous intussusception and nephritis in a 14-year-old boy who developed a sudden abdominal pain and gross hematuria on the 11th day after onset of the disease. Imaging studies revealed intussusception that required emergency laparotomy. Despite treatment with steroid and angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors, nephritis and nephrosis progressed for 4 weeks, and renal biopsy was performed to confirm the diagnosis. Cyclosporin A therapy was started, and remission of proteinuria was achieved after 5 months. However, the nephritis recurred and worsened to end-stage renal failure during 15 years of follow-up.
Objectives: The purpose of this study is to present effect of transtherapy which is treatment of Korean Medicine to acne scar patients. Methods: We used transtherapy to moderate and severe acne scar patients and evaluated by a Photo evaluation with 10-point score and Qualitative Global Acne Scarring Grading System. Results: After transtherapy treatment, mean of Qualitative Global Acne Scarring Grading System of patients changed from $3.5{\pm}0.71$ to $1.5{\pm}0.71$. Acne scar showed an improvement at least 8 up to 9 and mean of their acne scar improvement scores was $8.33{\pm}0.52$ on photo evaluation with 10-point score. Conclusions: This paper shows that transtherapy in the treatment of moderate to severe acne scars is beneficial for promoting skin regeneration.
