  • With development of 3D virtual space technology, diverse studies on 3D virtual space are being conducted because virtual space is being recognized as an appropriate technology for the field of urban and architectural design. However, while the process of urban and architectural design is done based on collaboration of various interested parties, there is lack of studies that support such collaboration. Communication within the virtual space must be provided for 3D virtual space to support collaboration, and a quick and direct technique of expressing one's intentions is required. sketch technique is effective. Ambiguous lines of sketch are extremely effective in that the range of thoughts in the idea stage can be broadened. However, such traditional sketch technique alone is difficult to support collaboration in 3D virtual space. That is because diverse shapes of 3D space require input of sketch. Accordingly in this study, sketch annotation that can effectively deliver intentions in 3D space was studied. Annotation technique using sketch-box was examined.

  • The sketch technique is being researched as the method of expressing intentions in 3D virtual space for cooperative work. The annotation which is necessary in 3D virtual space 1) not only enables the quick, easy and intuitive delivery of contents" but 2) must enable the input of sketch even on diverse and complicated surfaces and 3) must be expressed to recognize this in various angles in case of having the significance of 3D. Even if the sketch technique settles the precondition of 1), if 2) and 3) are not considered, the annotation is unable to deliver the contents accurately to the participant of cooperative work. Accordingly, a sketch annotation technique which enables the input of annotation even on complicated surfaces and also considers the contents of 3D is proposed using sketch-box technique.

  • 3D 가상공간을 협업에 효과적으로 이용하기 위해서는 3D 가상공간에서 빠르고 쉽게 의사를 표현할 수 있는 기술이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 이런 효과적인 의사표현 방법으로 Sketch 기법을 제안한다. Sketch 기법은 간단한 2D 선들의 표현을 통해 매우 빠르게 아이디어를 표현 할 수 있으며, 의도에 따라 부분을 강조하거나 가감할 수 있기 때문에 좀 더 직관적으로 의도를 전달 할 수 있다. 그래서 이러한 Sketch 를 공간상에서 손쉽게 3D 모델의 표면이나 공간 위에 입력하고, 입력한 Sketch 를 3D 가상공간과 연동하여 보여 줌으로써 쉽게 3D 가상공간 안에 Sketch 로 의견을 표현 할 수 있게 하는 Sketch 기반 인터페이스를 연구 하였다. Sketch 기법을 3D 가상공간에 적용하기 위해서는 3D 가상공간 상에서 2D Sketch 를 입력하기 위한 방법과 입력 시 발생할 수 있는 위상차의 문제를 해결해야 한다. 이 연구에서는 2D Sketch 입력을 대상 3D 객체 중심에서 Sketch할 부분의 Sketch plain 을 선택 및 생성함으로써 입력하는 방법을 연구하였으며, 입력 시 발생하는 위상차는 View-point 및 View-Plain 의 이동 등을 통해 해결점을 찾고자 하였다. 그리고 추후 연구를 통해 Sketch 를 Annotation 으로 활용, 협업에서 필요로 하는 Sketch Annotation 으로 개발하고자 한다.

A Study on the Spatial Cognition Characteristics at Minority Traditional Village of Chengzi in Yunnan Province of China (중국 윈난성(云南省) 소수민족 전통마을 청쯔고촌(城子古村)의 공간 인지 특성 연구)

  • Chinese ethnic minorities are inheriting their own traditions based on thousands of years of community life. Yunnan province in china is a castle in which many ethnic minorities have been living on the basis of various natural environments. Their traditional village can be regarded as a place reflecting minorities' thousands year of history and culture, and elements of positive social spaces are seen from the old village. Streets and places of the village are accumulated as images for residents. Based on their imagination-concept, sketch maps, reflecting residents' cognitive perception were collected. Analysis of 21 sketch maps shows that architectural elements, forming a unique landscape and community life contribute to establish a unity of one nation. the oldest tree in the village has a strong specificity as a place with the belief that the tree protects all residents in the village. Space in the head of the residents and Social spaces, embedded in the memories of the residents living in the community continued organically and the roads of the village showed clear recognition. Following this, the analysis methodology of social spaces and sketch will be examined in depth.

  • Seongbuk Village and Ungcheon Village are Town Wall Villages that reflect social and historical backgrounds. villagers have formed villages based on community life. The streets and places of the villages are accumulated as images in the memory of the inhabitants. Based on their imagination-concept, 30 sketch maps, reflecting residents' cognitive perception were collected. Analysis of 30 sketch maps shows that other forming of Collective maps. In the past, Villages historical facilities had changed roles, but the relationship between the place and the place has been continuous, and according to the development process of the villages, the relationship between streets and places has been formed. Following this, the analysis methodology of social spaces and sketch will be examined in depth.

  • A study of light in Kahn's architecture must be significance as a work in building new architectural space and a new foundation for architecture, as well as clarification of the uniqueness of Kahn's architectural space and search for its significance. In addition, the study provides a greater comprehension of an the concept of Kahn's architecture by clarifying the degree of association of light into other concepts of architecture. Therefore, this study attempts to examine Louis I. Kahn's statement, sketch and work. His sketch along with the characteristics of the technique how to present it also enables comprehension of other aspects of architecture as a means to revive architecture. Khan's use of light enabled the evolution of primarily two types 'specular surface' and 'unique opening part' by associating them with the need to diminish glaringness. Each of these types has been evolved individually and is indicative of a concept of light that can be largely divided into ' object's light ' and ' space's light ' Object's light refers to a type in which the formative significance of structural part and different directions of light coexist, and its formative characteristics play a role that differentiate places within space. Space's light is present on wall spaces that limit space and exhibits its distinguished role differentiating places within space in the form of 'expression'.

  • In recent years, space planning ability using 3D sketch software is required in the working field of interior design. However, vocational high school do not respond appropriately to changes in the industry, because the class of vocational high school consists of hands-on practical classes and 2D CAD based classes. There is a shortage of 3D sketch software-based instruction programs that can improve students' spatial planning skills. Therefore, this study is to develop instruction program using 3D sketch software for 'Planning for Residential Space' unit of NCS-based on interior design subject and to find out the effect on students' academic achievement by applying to vocational high school class. The 3d sketch software based instructional program developed in this study was developed through four stages of preparation, development, implementation and evaluation according to the PDIE model process. The experimental design model used nonequivalent group posttest-only design in this study. Experiments were conducted on vocational high school students in construction and 9 hours of interior design subjects were applied. After the experiments, students were tested for academic achievement in the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor areas. As a result, the instruction program using the 3d sketch program developed in this study was found to be more effective in improving students' academic achievement than existing manual instruction program in both cognitive, affective, and psychomotor areas.

The Image and Preference Comparison between 'Opened Landscape' and 'Filtered Landscape' - Focused on With and Without Parallax Effect - ('열린경관'과 '가려진경관'의 이미지와 선호도 비교 - 패럴랙스(Parallax) 효과 유무를 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study is not only to compare between 'Opened Landscape' and 'Filtered Landscape' image and preference but also to suggests a guide line of planting design for progressive realization. For this, the image structures of photo-sketch simulation for parallax landscape have been investigated by Semantic Differential scale(S.D. scale) and the Factor analysis. The results could be summarized as follows. The results of S.D. scale values for landscape through parallax were greater than non-parallax landscape. The scenes through parallax were better preferred to direct view. Thus the results of photo-sketch simulation test support the expected hypothesis that the visual environment of complexity and variety is closely correlated with the parallax effect and monotonous or non-parallax environment, and parallax effect on close view more bigger than the distant view. Factors covering the spatial image of parallax landscape were found to be seven and Total values were 60.35 %. The most important factors determining the parallax effect were Factors I 'depth of space' and VI 'expectation of space and interest'. An outstanding view must be handled properly to be preserved or accentuated. In this sense, the parallax spatial beauty with tree could be improved through the visual aspects of plan arrangements and the progressive realization appeared to be one effective design technique for landscape planning and design.

An Internet-based Hybrid Design Methodology for Collaborative Virtual Design Studio (인터넷 기반 가상 디자인 스튜디오에서 하이브리드 건축 협업 설계 방법론에 관한 연구)

  • The rapid development of information technology has much influence on architectural design. Collaboration beyond time and space has been possible by networking the work environment and digital products. Thus, the virtual design studio on architectural design is getting more important than ever before. This research investigates a virtual design studio methodology for effective collaboration. The building design process and the communication model are studied and possible modes of design collaboration are defined. This paper proposes an internet-based Virtual Reality(VR) communication tool as well as new design methodology that we call the 'Hybrid Design Methodology'. We expect that this design methodology will dramatically increase design feedbacks, and thus results in better design alternatives. There are two issues involved in developing the collaborative virtual design studio: 1) an intuitive interface that presents collaborative relations, and 2) three-dimensional computer-mediated communication tool using sketch as a modeling method. Further research issues identified at the end of the research include developing algorithms that translate mapping images to polygons for the drafting phase in the design process.

  • Mobile network infrastructure is being completed with the development of hardware and software for mobile devices. Network in mobile devices has evolved for telematics that is expanded much more than its existing concept. Telematics is compound word that is formed from the words "telecommunication" and "informatics". It means that telematics performs control and monitoring service with using mobile device resources. These services provide their services for users' requests through wired or wireless network from mobile devices and server that offers contents and network service collects management information of mobile devices. Map service is one of the preferred services for many telematics users. However, mobile map service has a limit between traffic and information sharing. Therefore it is very important to supply their information for both service provider and terminal user. In this paper, we design a new interactive sketch map using routes and information on the space to be applied effectively, and provide an extended document format that is defined to an extensible and dynamic clustering scheme to have portability map service for mobile device.
