Objectives: The purpose of the study is to investigate the musculo-skeletal pain prevalence and severity in the dental hygienists based on PRECEDE model. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was completed by 483 dental hygienists in Gwangju from September 13 to October 12, 2013. Data were analyzed by frequency analysis, chi-square test, t-test, and multiple logistic regression analysis using SPSS 18.0 program. Musculo-skeletal pain severity was classified from 1 to 5 by PRECEDE model. The questionnaire consisted of six questions of the general characteristics of the subjects, one question of musculo-skeletal pain prevalence, one question of body part musculo-skeletal pain prevalence, one question of subjective health status, three questions of activities of daily living, six questions of working environment, one question of musculoskeletal system diseases knowledge, two questions of social support, two questions of education experience and data use method, and five questions of necessity of health education. Results: The prevalence rate of musculo-skeletal pain within a year was 83.9% and 22.8% of the dental hygienists complained of severe pain. The odds ratio of moderate pain severity was 1.99(95% CI, 1.10-3.60) and the odds ratio of unhealthiness was 3.27 (95% CI, 1.35-7.94). The odds ratio of pain severity in those working for 4-6 years was 0.21(95% CI, 0.08-0.57). The odds ratio of pain severity in those practicing 6-10 scaling cases per day was 0.33(95% CI, 0.17-0.65). The odds ratio of pain severity in wrist turning and bending was 3.56(95% CI, 1.19-10.62). Conclusions: The muscolu-skeletal pain severity in the dental hygienists was closely associated with subjective health condition, work duration, the number of scaling practice activity, and a treatment posture. Regular physical checkup for the dental hygienists will improve the musculo-skeletal pain due to scaling practice.

Meat derived from skeletal muscles of animals is a highly nutritious type of food, and different meat types differ in nutritional, sensory, and quality properties. This study was conducted to compare the results of previous studies on the muscle fiber characteristics of major porcine skeletal muscles to the end of providing basic data for understanding differences in physicochemical and nutritional properties between different porcine muscle types (or meat cuts). Specifically, the muscle fiber characteristics between 19 major porcine skeletal muscles were compared. The muscle fibers that constitute porcine skeletal muscle can be classified into several types based on their contractile and metabolic characteristics. In addition, the muscle fiber characteristics, including size, composition, and density, of each muscle type were investigated and a technology based on these muscle fiber characteristics for improving meat quality or preventing quality deterioration was briefly discussed. This comparative review revealed that differences in muscle fiber characteristics are primarily responsible for the differences in quality between pork cuts (muscle types) and also suggested that data on muscle fiber characteristics can be used to develop optimal meat storage and packaging technologies for each meat cut (or muscle type).
Our previous study demonstrated that the Korean traditional medicine Gyeongshingangjeehwan (GGEx) activates AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor ${\alpha}$ ($PPAR{\alpha}$) critical for fatty acid oxidation in skeletal muscle and C2C12 skeletal muscle cells. Thus, we examined whether GGEx can reduce lipid accumulation in these cells and tissues. After obese and type 2 diabetic Otsuka Long-Evans Tokushima Fatty (OLETF) rats were treated with GGEx, we studied the effects of GGEx on skeletal muscle lipid accumulation. The effects of GGEx and/or the AMPK inhibitor compound C on lipid accumulation and expression of AMPK and $PPAR{\alpha}$ were measured in C2C12 skeletal muscle cells. Compared with lean Long-Evans Tokushima Otsuka rats, obese OLETF rats had increased triglyceride droplets. However, administration of GGEx to OLETF rats for 8 weeks significantly decreased triglyceride droplets in skeletal muscle. Consistent with the $in$$vivo$ data, GGEx inhibited lipid accumulation, the degree of which was comparable to Wy14,643, the potent activator of $PPAR{\alpha}$. GGEx also increased skeletal muscle mRNA levels of AMPK${\alpha}1$, AMPK${\alpha}2$, and $PPAR{\alpha}$. However, compound C inhibited these effects in C2C12 cells. These results suggest that GGEx suppresses skeletal muscle lipid accumulation and this process may be mediated by AMPK and $PPAR{\alpha}$ activation.
Skeletal class III had been classified by the position of the maxilla, the mandible, the maxillary alveolus, the mandibular alveolus and vertical development. This morphologic approach is simple and useful for clinical use, but it is insufficient to permit understanding of the pathophysiology of dysmorphoses. The author hypothesizes that there are different patterns of mutual relation of the skeletal components which have contributed pathologic equilibrium of skeletal class III. The purpose of this study are threefold: 1) to classify skeletal class III in subgroups, which can show the architectural characteristics of the deformity, 2) to analyse the craniofacial architecture of each subgroup on etio-pathogenic basis, and 3) to characterize and visualize the pattern as a prototype. Materials used in this study were lateral cephalograms of 106 skeletal class III adults, which were analysed with modified Delaire's architectural and structural analysis. Linear and angular measurements of the individual subject were obtained and cluster analysis was used for the subgrouping. Data were evaluated for verification of the statistical significances. The following results were obtained. 1. By the modified Delaire's architectural and structural analysis and cluster analysis, skeletal class III adults were classified into 7 clusters and presented as prototypes, which could show the pathophysiology of the skeletal architecture 2. There was significant relationship in measurement variables of each cluster, which could reflect characteristics of the skeletal pattern of growth. 3. The flexure of cranial base had a close relationship to the anterior rotational growth of the maxilla and contributes to understand the etio-pathology of skeletal class III. 4. The proportion of craniospinal area in cranial depth, craniocervical angle and vertical position of point Om had a close relationship to rotational growth of the mandible and direction of condylar growth. They contribute to understand the etio-pathology of skeletal class III. In summary, the cranium and the craniocervical area must be considered in diagnosis and treatment planning of dentofacial deformity. And the occlusal plane can be considered as a representative which shows the mutual relationships of the skeletal components.

The study examined clinical effect of the 'Sexiang Shuhuo Jing' on serum CK and LDH activities and skeletal muscle ${\alpha}-actin$ mRNA expression concentration 140days after skeletal muscle injury in rats. The clinical research consisted of observing and measuring the serum CK, LDH activities and skeletal muscle ${\alpha}-actin$ mRNA expression, at the time of injury and during recovery. All experimental data were analyzed by repeated measurement with ANOVA on of SPSS(11.5v), accepting level for all significances was above ${\alpha}\;=.05.$ The results were as follows: That skeletal muscle injury in rats there existed a substantial increase serum CK, LDH activities and expression of skeletal muscle ${\alpha}-actin$ mRNA And Sexiang Shuhuo Jing treatment group's serum CK, LDH activities lower and faster recovery than control group. The 1 st day after skeletal muscle injury, Sexiang Shuhuo Jing treatment group's skeletal muscle ${\alpha}-actin$ mRNA expression was much more higher than control group, after 2 day's faster recovery normal level than control group. There existed a substantial increase again serum CK, LDH activities and skeletal muscle ${\alpha}-actin$ mRNA expression 3rd days after injury in control group. But in Sexiang Shuhuo Jing treatment group's can't be found that.
In this paper, we present a method for reconstructing a surface mesh animation sequence from point cloud animation data. We mainly focus on the articulated body of a subject - the motion of which can be roughly described by its internal skeletal structure. The point cloud data is assumed to be captured independently without any inter-frame correspondence information. Using a template model that resembles the given subject, our basic idea for reconstructing the mesh animation is to deform the template model to fit to the point cloud (on a frame-by-frame basis) while maintaining inter-frame coherence. We first estimate the skeletal motion from the point cloud data. After applying the skeletal motion to the template surface, we refine it to fit to the point cloud data. We demonstrate the viability of the method by applying it to reconstruct a fast dancing motion.

PURPOSE: This study examined the prevalence and specific risk factors in males aged 40-49 years with the coexistence of age-related loss of skeletal muscle mass and obesity (CALSMO). METHODS: The current study analyzed the data obtained from a cross-sectional study involving a sample of 1,218 men who resided in the community and fell within the age range of 40 to 49 years. Multiple risk factors were examined: age, height, weight, body mass index, waist circumference, skeletal muscle mass index, smoking and drinking habits, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, fasting glucose levels, and triglyceride and cholesterol levels. All data were analyzed via complex sampling analysis. RESULTS: The coexistence of age-related loss of skeletal muscle mass and obesity in males was 2.94% (95% CI: 2.06-4.17). The clinical risk factors were low height, high weight, body mass index, waist circumference, skeletal muscle index, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, and fast glucose (p < .05). CONCLUSION: The study identifies the prevalence and risk factors for CALSMO among adults in the community. These findings contribute to the existing literature on CALSMO and highlight potential risk factors associated with CALSMO development in males aged 40-49 years.
Our previous study demonstrated that the Korean traditional medicine Gyeongshingangjeehwan (GGEx) inhibits obesity and insulin resistance in obese type 2 diabetic Otsuka Long-Evans Tokushima Fatty (OLETF) rats. We investigated whether GGEx may affect AMP-activated protein kinase ${\alpha}$ ($AMPK{\alpha}$) since $AMPK{\alpha}$ activation is known to stimulate fatty acid oxidation in skeletal muscle of obese rodents. After OLETF rats were treated with GGEx, we studied the effects of GGEx on $AMPK{\alpha}$ and acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC) phosphorylation, and the expression of $AMPK{\alpha}$, $PPAR{\alpha}$, and $PPAR{\alpha}$ target genes. The effects of GGEx on mRNA expression of the above genes were also measured in C2C12 skeletal muscle cells. Administration of GGEx to OLETF rats for 8 weeks increased phosphorylation of $AMPK{\alpha}$ and ACC in skeletal muscle. GGEx also elevated skeletal muscle mRNA levels of $AMPK{\alpha}1$ and $AMPK{\alpha}2$ as well as $PPAR{\alpha}$ and its target genes. Consistent with the in vivo data, similar activation of genes was observed in GGEx-treated C2C12 cells. These results suggest that GGEx stimulates skeletal muscle $AMPK{\alpha}$ and $PPAR{\alpha}$ activation, leading to alleviation of obesity and related disorders.
Purpose: This study conducts quantitative evaluation or structural and functional characteristics or normal skeletal muscle with ultrasound image and surface electromyography, and is to provide basic materials for utilizing ultrasound image analysis in physical therapy diagnosis and assessment of skeletal muscle. Methods: Measurement of three stages was conducted with 88 normal adults between their twenties and seventies, correlations and differences using collected data according to age and gender were compared and correlations among measured items were analyzed and then the following conclusions were obtained. Results: Analysis of ultrasound image of normal skeletal muscle showed that density, median frequency had the closest relations with age. In addition, it was found that there were high correlations between density explaining structural characteristics of skeletal muscle and median frequency explaining functional characteristics. Conclusion: Analysis of ultrasound image makes complex evaluation of structure and function of skeletal muscle possible when it is connected with functional evaluation method using physical measurement surface electromyography as well as quantitative evaluation of structural changes of skeletal muscle and is effective in complementing physical therapy diagnosis centering around functionality evaluation.
In this paper, we propose a method to classify the skeletal maturity with a small amount of hand wrist X-ray image using deep learning-based meta-learning. General deep-learning techniques require large amounts of data, but in many cases, these data sets are not available for practical application. Lack of learning data is usually solved through transfer learning using pre-trained models with large data sets. However, transfer learning performance may be degraded due to over fitting for unknown new task with small data, which results in poor generalization capability. In addition, medical images require high cost resources such as a professional manpower and mcuh time to obtain labeled data. Therefore, in this paper, we use meta-learning that can classify using only a small amount of new data by pre-trained models trained with various learning tasks. First, we train the meta-model by using a separate data set composed of various learning tasks. The network learns to classify the bone maturity using the bone maturity data composed of the radiographs of the wrist. Then, we compare the results of the classification using the conventional learning algorithm with the results of the meta learning by the same number of learning data sets.
