용사법과 레이저 용접을 이용한 복합소재 미세필터 연구 (A study on ceramic and metal composite material joining for micro filter using thermal spray and laser welding)

  • Hybrid material(ceramic+metal) processes were developed for micro filter using ceramics coating at metal filter surface by thermal spray method, micro hole drilling at ceramic coated filter surface by femtosecond laser, and fiber laser direct welding of ceramic and metal (SUS304, SM45C) by capillary effect. Thermal spray process was used for ceramic powders and metal filters. The used ceramic powders were $Al_2O_3+40TiO_2$(Metco 131VF) powder of maximum particle size $5{\mu}m$ and ${Al_2O_3}99+$(Metco 54NS) power of maximum particle size 45m. Ceramic coated filters using thermal spray method had a great influence on powder material, particle size and coating thickness but had a fine performance as a micro filter. CW fiber laser was used to drill the top ceramic layer and melt the bottom metal layer for joining applications.

  • 메탈폼은 매우 많은 기공을 포함하는 세포상 구조를 갖는 고체금속을 일컫는다. 특히 관통 기공 같은 개기공들은 고온용 필터 및 촉매 지지체 등으로 산업적으로 많이 사용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 슬러리 코팅공정으로 90% 이상의 기공율과 2 mm 이상의 기공크기를 갖는 Fe 폼을 제조하였다. 이때 Fe 분말과 $Fe_2O_3$ 분말의 혼합비를 달리하여 기공율과 기공크기를 제어하였다. 이를 위해 우선 분말, 증류수 및 폴리비닐알콜(PVA)를 균일하게 혼합하여 슬러리를 제조하였다. $Fe_2O_3$ 분말의 혼합 비율이 증가할수록 PU 폼에 코팅된 슬러리의 양이 증가한 반면 Fe 폼의 수축 및 기공율은 각각 감소하였다.

  • 기계 화학법에 의해서 70-300nm 수준의 입도 분포를 갖는 $LiCoO_2$ 양극 분말을 제작하였다. $K_2SO_4$에 의하여 코팅 된 Li-Co 전구체는 약 $800^{\circ}C$에서 고온상 $LiCoO_2$로 결정화 되었으며, 이때 이 온도까지는 열분해 또는 서로 반응을 하지 않는 $K_2SO_4$의 영향에 의하여 분말의 입성장이 억제되어 나노 크기에 접근하는 입자를 얻을 수 있었고, 상대적으로 큰 표면 에너지에 기인하여 입자의 모양이 구형에 가깝게 형성되어 졌다. 합성돤 분말은 상용화 분말과 동일한 결정특성을 보였으나 , 투과전자현미경의 회절패턴 분석결과, 층상 뿐 아니라 부분적으로 정방정의 $LiCoO_2$ 상을 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 정방정은 주로 입자 표면에 존재하게 되어 Li의 확산을 용이하지 않게 하므로, 합성된 $LiCoO_2$ 분말은 그 크기가 나노에 접근함에도 불구하고 전체 용량 및 rate 용량이 상용화 분할보다 더 낮은 값을 보였다. 이상의 결과로부터 뛰어난 고출력 및 고성능의 전지 제작을 위하여 분말의 크기를 미세화하는 작업은 물론 입자 표면의 결정상이 잘 조절된 분말을 사용하는 것이 바람직함을 알 수 있다.

Friction, Wear and Adhesion of HVOF Coating of Co-alloy Powder

  • HVOF thermal spray coating of micron size Co-alloy powder has been studied for the durability improvement of high velocity spindle (HVS). Optimal coating process of this system for the best surface properties is hydrogen flow rate 75 FMR, oxygen flow rate 38-42 FMR, feed rate 30 g/min at spray distance 5 inch. Friction coefficient (FC) and wear trace (WT) decrease increasing coating surface temperature from 25$^{\circ}$C to 538$^{\circ}$C due to the higher lubricant effects of the oxides at the higher temperature. At the study of adhesion of T800 coating on a light metal alloy Ti-6Al-4V (Ti64) tensile bond strength (TBS) and tensile fracture location (TFL) of Ti64/T800 are 8,740 psi and near middle of T800 coating respectively. This shows that adhesion of Ti64/T800 is higher than the cohesion strength (8,740 psi) of T800 coating. Therefore T800 coating is strongly advisable for the surface coating on HVS such as high speed air-bearing spindle.

Processing and Microstructure of Alumina Coated with $Al_2O_3$/SiC Nanocomposite

  • The surface modificaion of alumina by $Al_2$O$_3$/SiC nanocomposite coating was studied in terms of processing and microstructure. A powder slurry of 5 vol% SiC composition was dipcoated onto presintered alumina bodies and pressurelessly sintered at 1$700^{\circ}C$ for 2 h in $N_2$. The used of organic binder and plasticizer in the slurry preparation, and the control of the density of presintered alumina body were found to be necessary to avoid cracking and warping during processing. The nanocomposite coating well bonded to the alumina body with thickness about 110 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. The average grain size of coating (2 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$) was much finer than that of alumina body (13 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$). Fracture surface observations revealed mostly transgranular fracture for the coating, whereas intergranular fracture for the alumina body. Some pores (about 6%) were observed in the coating layer, although the alumina body showed fully dense microstructure.

찹쌀떡의 보존기간 연장을 위한 대두단백질 코팅제의 특성 (Extending Shelf-life of Rice Cake Using Coating Agent Containing Soy Protein Isolate)

  • The objective of this study is to determine the effect of soy protein isolate (SPI) film coating on the color, firmness, viscosity and weight loss of Rice Cake stored at 15, 20 and $25^{\circ}C$ (RH 50%) for 30 days. Raw materials mixed with SPI and cocoa powder (10:0, 7:3, 5:5, 3:7, w/w) were prepared. After adding sugar and shortening to raw materials, the mixture were refined to 25 micron of particle size. Coating of Rice Cake were carried out at $65^{\circ}C$. SPI coated Rice Cake had higher internal and external firmness comparing to the control at $25^{\circ}C$. SPI coated Rice Cake showed smooth surface morphology and had 0.71-1.01 mm of thickness. SPI coated Rice Cake showed less weight loss for 30 days compared to controls. SPI coating solution was successfully coated on Rice Cake and extended shelf-life over 15 days at room temperature.

  • The purpose of this work is to coat ZrO$_{2}$ - 8Y$_{2}$O$_{3}$ ceramic on the Al cast alloy(AC-8A) by using the plasma spray method. Two types of coatings which were composed of two and three layer coating were examined. Each coating powder was analyzed for shape and size distribution and X-ray diffraction pattern. For the coated layers, microstructural analysis and performance estimation which was composed of static thermal test, thermal cyclic test and thermal shock test were conducted.

  • An Fe-Ni-Co based superalloy Incoloy 909 (Incoloy 909) has been used for gas turbine engine component material. This alloy is susceptible to high temperature oxidation and corrosion because of the absence of corrosion resistant Cr. For the improvement of durability of the component of Incoloy 909 aluminizing-chromate coating by pack cementation process has been investigated at relatively low temperature of about $550^{\circ}C$ to protect the surface microstructure and properties of Incoloy 909 substrate. As a previous study to aluminizing-chromate coating by pack cementation of Incoloy 909, the optimal aluminizing process has been investigated. The size effects of source Al powder and inert filler $Al_O_3$ powder and activator selection have been studied. And the dependence of coating growth rate on aluminizing temperature and time has also been studied. The optimal aluminizing process for the coating growth rate is that the mixing ratio of source Al powder, activator $NH_4Cl$ and filler $Al_O_3$ are 80%, 1% and 19% respectively at aluminizing temperature $552^{\circ}C$ and time 20 hours.

고에너지볼밀을 이용한 PVA 고분자가 표면 코팅된 B4C 나노복합재 제조 (The Fabrication of PVA Polymer Coated on the Surface of B4C Nanocomposite by High Energy Ball Mill)

  • Mechanical coating process was applied to form 89 %-hydrolyzed poly vinyl alcohol (PVA) onto boron carbide ($B_4C$) nanopowder using one step high energy ball mill method. The polymer layer coated on the surface of B4C was changed to glass-like phase. The average particle size of core/shell structured $B_4C$/PVA was about 50 nm. The core/shell structured $B_4C$/PVA was formed by dry milling. However, the hydrolyzed PVA of $98{\sim}99%$ with high glass transition temperature ($T_g$) was rarely coated on the powder. The $T_g$ of polymer materials was one of keys for guest polymer coating on to the host powder by solvent free milling.

  • In this study, two kinds of Fe-based bulk metallic glasses (BMG) powder were built-up through atmospheric plasma spray (APS) technique. The microstructure of two coatings was analyzed through X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. Crystallization and oxidation in coatings were affected by chemical composition and initial powder size. Then, both of them influenced the tribological property.
