Purpose : This research intended to find out the effects of scalenus medius muscle relaxed posture on the increase of head-neck rotation for general adults. Methods : This research was conducted on 30 subjects whose both sides head neck rotation angles are not the same and that agreed to participate in the experiment. In a posture of sitting erectly on a mat, both sides head neck rotation angles were measured with C-ROM equipment, and while supporting arm in direction opposite the side where head neck rotation limited and leaning over the body at 45 degree and neck at vertical condition against ground, head-neck rotation angles were measured each with C-ROM equipment. Results : The Head-Neck rotation angle on the side of limited head-neck rotation demonstrated more increase in scalenus medius relaxed posture than in erect sitting posture, showing significant difference statistically(p<0.05). The head-neck rotation angle on the side of non-limited Head-Neck rotation demonstrated more decrease in scalenus medius relaxed posture than in erect sitting posture, not showing any significant difference statistically (p>0.05). Conclusions : This posture may be used for preventing limit of head-neck rotation caused of scalenus medius muscle tension and increasing head-neck rotation.

The purpose of this study were to determine the effect of testing posture and elbow position on grip strength. Two hundred college students 100 males and 100 females aged 18 to 28 years, participated in the study. A Grip-Strength Dynamometer was used to measure the grip strength in two testing posture(sitting and standin) and four elbow position$(0^{\circ},\;45^{\circ},\;90^{\circ}\;and\;135^{\circ}\;flexion)$ correlations and t-test was used to determine any significant difference in grip strength between the testing posture and the elbow position. The results were as follows : 1. The grip strength was affected by testing pasture and flexion degree of elbow. 2. The grip strength was stronger in the standing than sitting in subjects 3. The grip strength decreased according to elbow flexion increase in subjects. 4. The higher grip strength gained in the standing with the elbow 0 flexion. 5. The grip strength by elbow flexion degree showed significant difference at sitting and standing posture. The grip strength was significant differenced by testing position at same elbow flexion degree.
In order to secure reliable values of measurement of the data about children's longitudinal develop- ment and physique examination and their growth states for 6 years from first grade through sixth grade in elementary school was collected based on their school health records. A sample physique group and general physique group were investigated and compared classified into girls and boys. The results are as follows; (1) Whe the difference of physiques in the sample group and general group is compared, boys and girls show little difference in height but boys differ greatly in weight and sitting-height but girls do in weight, girth of chest and sitting-height between 8 and 11 years old. (2) In the verification of the two groups; the body height in 7 years old show a significant difference at the P<0.5 level and their weights do at 7.8 and 11 years old. Girls' sitting-height at 11 years old shows a significant difference at the P<0.5 level. In the light of the above results because possibility of instrumental error in measurement is high between the two groups and also in case of the comparison of past sample data, the physique examination used in every school seems to be in need of reconsideration to reduce errors in measurement.
Background: Progressive muscle weakness is aggravated not only in the skeletal muscles but also in the respiratory muscles in many patients with neuromuscular diseases (NMD). Inspiratory muscle training (IMT) has been reported as therapy for pulmonary rehabilitation to improve respiratory strength, endurance, exercise capacity, and quality of life, and to reduce dyspnea. Objects: The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of playing harmonica for 5 months on pulmonary function by assessing the force vital capacity (FVC), peak cough flow (PCF), maximal inspiratory pressure (MIP), maximal expiratory pressure (MEP), and maximal voluntary ventilation (MVV) in patients with NMD. Methods: Six subjects with NMD participated in this study. The subjects played harmonica once a week for 2 hours at a harmonica academy and twice a week for 1 hour at home. Thus, training was performed thrice a week for 23 weeks. The examiner assessed pulmonary function by measuring FVC in the sitting and supine positions and PCF, MIP, MEP, and MVV in the sitting position at the beginning of training and once a month for 5 months. Results: Both sitting and supine FVC significantly increased after playing harmonica (p=.042), as did MIP (p=.043) and MEP (p=.042). Conclusion: Playing harmonica can be used as an effective method to improve pulmonary function in patients with NMD.

This study focuses on the dimensions of tractor seat, which is one of the important link between the tractor and the operator based on ergonomic approach in the design process. 7 anthropometric data sets were introduced from Korean and US anthropometric database for adult male and female including length of buttock to back of knee (sitting), height of lowest point of shoulder blade (sitting), underside elbow height (sitting), and so on. Design factor for the tractor seat included dimensions of seating surface, dimensions of backrest surface, and the location of armrest. The shape of spinal curve and clothing correction should be also considered during the design process. The result of this study can be used as a guideline for the design process of tractor seat.

Objectives: The Purpose of this study is to report the effects of Korean medical treatment on patient of peroneal neuropathy caused by sitting cross-legged. Methods: The patient diagnosed as peroneal neuropathy was treated by Acupuncture, Bee Venom therapy, Herbal medicine. To evaluate the effects of Korean treatment, we used Range of Motion(ROM) of Ankle, Visual Analog Scale(VAS), Numeric Rating Scale(NRS), Ankle-Hind-foot Scale(AHS), Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging(DITI). Results: After treatment, ROM of Ankle, VAS, NRS, AHS were improved. Temperature Difference(${\Delta}T$) was decreased on DITI. Conclusions: This study suggests that Korean medical treatment might be effective on sitting cross-legged patient diagnosed as Peroneal Neuropathy.
This study stems from the work of Lehman et al. (Ergonomics, 2001) which concluded that standing yields better work performance, and from the growing health trend of recommending the reduction of the amount of time spent in sitting (Owen et al., Exercise and Sport Science Reviews, 2010). Lajoie et al. (Experimental Brain Research, 1993) provided an initial significant contribution to a theory that standing requires a person to control balance, equating to demand higher productive output from the cognitive system than when a person is sitting. An assumption was formulated that standing position during class is feasible and can be adopted on the belief that it might contribute positive results to students' performance. The purpose of this study is to identify whether a body position during exams tested along with exposure durations has a significant effect on college students' performance. Mathematical analysis and reading comprehension exam was used to measure the cognitive performance of the students. Two factors, position and duration, were tested for significance with two levels each subjected to six replicates. Twenty-four students from the College of Engineering and Agro-Industrial Technology, University of the Philippines Los Ba$\tilde{n}$os were randomly selected. The experiment showed that the body position during exams is a significant factor for the Math exam, but insignificant for the Reading Comprehension exam.

In this study, it is investigated the relationship between sitting discomfort and major design variables of lumber support, such as prominence, height and width through volunteer tests. Korean $50^{th}$ percentile males and American $50^{th}$ percentile males are recruited among 36 to 45 years old peoples who have driving experiences and have no back pain during the past 12 months. Subject ratings are asked by changing design variables randomly. Body pressure and lumber position changes are also measured as object measures. And correlation among subject ratings, object measures and three design variables are analyzed using statistical analysis. As a result, it is revealed that prominence is the most dominant factor that correlates to the discomfort strongly for both-Koreans and Americans and contribution of other two variables are very low.
Purpose : Currently, ICF to describe the functions and disability in the world has been used as a universal language. ICF tools based on ICF, the rehabilitation management of clients have been developed to be efficient. This study was designed to describe clinical decision for functional goal of clients to used ICF tools. Methods : In the following the utilization of all developed ICF tools will be described within a case example of a 53-year-old women, suffering from cerebellum disorder. As problems in the subject's functional activities was difficulties in changes sitting postures, standing postures and maintaining standing postures. Activity limitation was determined change sitting, standing posture as a goal through discussion with the patient. Results : After setting the identified problems as the purpose of intervention through the assessment, we find out the outcomes using the ICF evaluation display.
