  • The proposed site selection for transmission system construction is applied by KEPCO's regulation of the site selection criteria and it is confirmed through the deliberation of site selection committee and talking with local authority, by means of study on Present status and site survey, to verify impediment of national land use and development plan. Therefore, it is true that KEPCO has difficulty in timely completion of power facility construction because of civil appeals due to insufficiently evaluate resistance factor of stakeholder and stubborn resistance of inhabitants. This paper describes the PEES(power effect estimation system) which contributed to timely completion of transmission system construction to solve the above difficulty by utilizing IT(Information Technology) such as GIS(Geographic Information System) and LiDAR for the proposed site section. PIES evaluates project impacts on commencement of construction and finds out counter measures then makes public construction information after prediction and analysis of stakeholder's resistance factor.

  • As the recent economic downturn continues to undermine the profits of construction industry in Korea, it has become ever more pressing to improve productivity of the industry. Since construction site management manpower staffing plan has close bearing on the productivity of construction projects, it is essential to estimate and mobilize adequate number of resources as per conditions and characteristics of each construction site. However, there are no reference approaches in practice to provide baseline for site management manpower staffing plan or estimation of manpower requirement. Therefore, this study aims to examine factors affecting productivity that warrants first and foremost consideration in development of site management manpower staffing plan during the initial phase of building construction project by conducting survey on industry stakehoders with hands-on responsibilities in construction sites and analyzing their responses. Conclusions herein will provide basic inputs for subsequent studies on development of site management manpower staffing plan as per project characteristics.

  • Along with the changing pattern that the construction project is getting complicated, large-scaled and up-to-dated, necessity of efficient management of manpower and resources of the construction site is being increased. In particular, considering that the construction site requires a lot of labor force and in terms of the construction cost, labor cost shares 30-40%, labor management has become a very important factor. In this study, in order to support a stable and successful construction project implementation and supplement the existing system being utilized at the current site, construction site access management automation system based on hand vascular pattern, a biometrics system, is intended to be developed. Relevant theory for the system development and the problem of existing RFID system were evaluated and based on this findings, a system design and DB composition chart were envisaged.   • Due to the topographical characteristics of Busan, which has many mountainous areas, there is a shortage of available land, and even the Gyeongbu Line railroad crosses the city center, hindering the disconnection of living areas and urban development. Accordingly, the need for multi-dimensional development has been raised to secure land, and recently, interest has been increasing in connecting cities divided by the undergroundization of the Gyeongbu Line railway and making efficient use of land. In this study, the development type was analyzed through the case of multi-dimensional development of land, and the development direction for each three-dimensional development type was set based on the results of the multi-dimensional development of four areas (Sasang Station, Gupo Station, Gaya Station, and Busanjin Station). In addition, reflecting the regional characteristics of the target area and the ongoing urban regeneration project, we will propose a design plan for horizontal and vertical space utilization of the railway site through multi-dimensional development through the efficient land use.

  • Because of a recent trend of the open and globalized world economy, international trade is getting bigger and there is a trade competition among many countries, resulting in competition between harbor industries. Therefore, as hub-port development of China, Japan and Taiwan is more actively progressing than any other times, Korea should prepare a powerful management system to take the initiative over them. Above all, a new recognition of the governmental officers in charge of political management about hub-port industry and early development of the northeast hub-port are needed. To maximize its distinctiveness from competitive ports, port sale should be actively managed. As well, as port functions are diverse, accompanied site development should be prepared. In conclusion, in order to improve functions of a port and develop the port as a general complex of physical distribution, the government should encourage the accompanied site development and support preparation of a customs-free area and a general system of physical distribution.

  • In recent years, the change of urban function and the decrease in birth rate have given rise to merge, abolition and relocation of the existing building in cities. This study explores the possibilities for various land utilizations of relocated urban sites. In doing so, it compares the development methods and the utilization pattern between home and abroad. It analyses the land use categories and the development methodologies of 4 relocated urban sites happened in Seoul and 4 foreign sites. In addition, it analyzes the land utilization after relocation, development principals, area, building usage and changes in land use regulation. Finally, it proposes the directions for developing relocated site and each of roles among the parties concerned. This study concludes that it is available to exploit the relocated urban sites by the variety of development methodologies, especially in a metropolis like Seoul.

Development of Site Index Equation and Curves for Site Quality Assessment of Pinus caribea Monoculture Plantations in Southwestern Nigeria

  • Forest timber production potential of any site is oftentimes measured quantitatively by site index, which is defined as dominant height of a particular stand at a specified age. A site index was developed for estimating site quality of monoculture Pinus caribaea plantations in southwestern Nigeria using a base age of 25 years. Dominant height data were collected from 60 Temporary Sample Plots (TSPs) of $20{\times}20m$ in plantations of 15 to 37 years. Linear and non-linear models as been widely applied in quantitative forest measurements were fitted to dominant height-age data and the best site index equation is : $SI=Exp^{(InHd-23.495(A^{-2}-0.04)}$. The site index curves constructed for the three sites (Omo Forest Reserve - OFR (J4), Oluwa Forest Reserve - OLFR and Shasha Forest Reserve - SFR) across the southwestern Nigeria using the chosen equation revealed that a 15 year old Pinus caribaea in the study area attained average dominant heights of 25, 22 and 21 m in OFR (J4), OLFR and SFR respectively. The site index equation and curves proffer veritable insight into better silvicultural options and management practices for the future plantations suitable sites.

  • Composition depending on the development of industrial sites are located just within the existing facilities are hoping to become a retention, in accordance with the law will impose a liability amount. Then calculating the profit and loss analysis of the retention is required. In other words, the composition of the industrial site will be retained for existing facilities and the amount of the profit is necessary to analyze. In this study, the calculation of expenses and the income of retained existing facilities will be presented with analytical methods. Especially the existing cases of dispute with the results of the adjustment and the calculation of contributions for a range of benefits associated with the analysis according to 'The Industrial Sites and Development Act', the following conclusions were drawn. According to 'The Industrial Sites and Development Act', the facility at the industrial site composition within the limits of increasing the convenience of being charged is reasonable. In particular, the industrial site of buildings located within existing facilities depending on the composition and future industrial sites are public facilities available for the facility to consider the possibility of calculating contributions to be reasonable. Additional benefits which can be the land prices, tax exemptions, and increasing efficiency of land use for the benefits are not yet realized the benefits against the expenses side, as well as imposing double taxation. Therefore, the heavy emphasis on convenience is not considered to be reasonable. Including in the industrial site, the cost of damages caused, that is, noise, pollution, and the defective product possibility should be considered a side opinion, but it still does not promote the development of states estimated the cost of the damage is not right to be counted. Therefore, this facility should not be included in calculating contributions.

  • The overseas calibration sites such as Mongolia used for Korea Multi-purpose Satellite (KOMPSAT-5 or K5), have a disadvantage in that maintenance and repair costs are high and immediate response is difficult when an unexpected problem occurs. Accordingly, the necessity of establishing a domestic SAR calibration site was suggested, but the progress of related research is insignificant. In this paper, we investigated what conditions should be satisfied in terms of backscattering characteristics to construct a site for SAR satellite image quality evaluation and calibration. First of all, it was selected first by applying general indicators such as accessibility and availability among places recommended as satellite image calibration candidate sitesin Korea. Next, three places, site A (Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do), site B (Jeonju-si, Jeollabuk-do), and site C (Daedeok Research Complex, Daejeon), were selected as the final candidates because they are relatively wide and easy to install AT or CR. Site A, located in Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do, was best considered in terms of slope measurements, minimum site area to obtain ISLR, uniformity of DN values and backscatter coefficients, interference by strong reflectors, and backscatter clutter level.

Hydrophobic Interaction Between the Acyl Moiety of Choline Esters and the Active Site of Acetylcholinesterase

  • Existence of a binding site for choline esters with an acyl chain of various sizes was examined by comparing the inhibitory potency of the respective compound. In contrast to acetylcholine, which showed a pure competitive pattern of inhibition, choline esters with an acyl chain of a long size ($C{\geq}5$) expressed a mixed type of inhibition. Binding of choline esters containing a long chain ($C_7-C_{12}$) to the hydrophobic region in the active site is deduced from a linear relationship between the $K_{iE}$ value and the size of acyl moiety, and a good hydrophobicity relationship. In addition, the non-competitive component in the inhibition of acetylcholinesterase seems to be due to the interaction of choline esters with both the hydrophobic site and the trimethylammonium-binding site in the active center of the acetylated acetylcholinesterase.
