  • We investigate the fundamental mechanisms of the dynamic instability when the sinusoidal shaped arch structures subjected to sinusoidal harmonic excitation with pin-ends. In nonlinear dynamics, examining the characteristics of attractor on the phase plane and investigating the dynamic buckling process are very important thing for understanding why unstable phenomena are sensitively originated by various initial conditions. In this study, the direct and the indirect snap-buckling of shallow arches considering geometrical nonlinearity are investigated numerically and compared with the step excitation critical load.

  • The dynamic instability for snapping phenomena has been studied by many researches. There is few paper which deal with the dynamic buckling under the load with periodic characteristics, and the behavior under periodic excitation is expected the different behavior against STEP excitation. We investigate the fundamental mechanisms of the dynamic instability when the sinusoidal shaped arch structures subjected to sinusoidal distributed excitation with pin-ends. In this study, the dynamic direct snapping of shallow arches is investigated under not only STEP load excitation but also sinusoidal harmonic excitations, applied in the up-and-down direction. The dynamic nonlinear responses are obtained by the numerical integration of the geometrically nonlinear equations of motion, and examined by the Fourier spectral analysis in order to get the frequency-dependent characteristics of the dynamic instability for various load levels.

By using Newmark- β method, we can get the nonlinear displacement response, and using this analyze characteristics of the dynamic instability through the running response spectrum by FFT(Fast Fourier Transform).

  • In speech synthesis, LF model is widely used for excitation signal for voice source coding system. But LF model does not represent the harmonic frequencies of excitation signal. We propose an effective method which use sinusoidal functions for representing the harmonics of voice source signal. The proposed method could achieve more exact voice source waveform and better synthesized speech quality than LF model.

  • This paper presents real time implementation of 4kbps EHSX (Enhanced Harmonic Stochastic Excitation) speech coder that combines the harmonic vector excitation coding with time-separated transition coding. The harmonic vector excitation coding uses the harmonic excitation coding for voiced frames and used the vector excitation coding with the structure of analysis-by-synthesis for unvoiced frames, respectively. For transition frames mixed with voiced and unvoiced signal, we use the time-separated transition coding. In this paper. we present the optimization methods of implementation speech coder on the EMS320C6701/sup (R)/ DSP. To reduce the complex for real-time implementation. we perform the optimization method in algorithm by replacing the complex sinusoidal synthesis method with IFFT. and we apply fully pipelines hand assembly coding after converting it from floating source to fixed source. To generate a more efficient code. we also make use or the available EMS320C6701/sup (R)/ resources such as Fastest67x library and memory organization.

  • This research deals with the nonlinearities of rocking vibration associated with impact and sliding on the rocking behavior of rigid block under two dimensional sinusoidal excitation which has different frequencies in two excitation direction. The varied excitation direction influences not only the rocking response but also the sliding motion and the rocking response shape. Chaotic responses are observed in wider excitation amplitude region, when the frequencies in each excitation direction are different. The complex behavior of chaotic response, in the phase space, is related with the trajectory of base excitation and sliding motion.

  • The low rate speech coders under 4 kbit/s are based on sinusoidal transform coding (STC) or multiband excitation (MBE). Since the harmonic coders are not efficient to reconstruct the transient segments of speech signals such as onsets, offsets, non-periodic signals, etc, the coders do not provide a natural speech quality. This paper proposes method of a efficient transient model :d a multi-mode low rate coder at 2.4 kbit/s that uses harmonic model for the voiced speech, stochastic model for the unvoiced speech and a model using aperiodic pulse location tracking (APPT) for the transient segments, respectively. The APPT utilizes the harmonic model. The proposed method uses different models depending on the characteristics of LPC residual signals. In addition, it can combine synthesized excitation in CELP coding at time domain with that in harmonic coding at frequency domain efficiently. The proposed coder shows a better speech quality than 2.4 kbit/s version of the mixed excitation linear prediction (MELP) coder that is a U.S. Federal Standard for speech coder.

  • The purposes of the research were to evaluate system performance and response of building structure under external load for full scale modal-testing-tower applied toggle bracing and lead rubber damper(LRD). The dynamic properties of the structure were measured before and after installing damper under harmonic excitation using the AMD and the results were compared. The harmonic excitation condition is to increase 0.01Hz sine sweep signal from 0.49Hz to 0.63Hz. As a result of measuring resonant frequency, before installing damper is 0.55Hz and after installing damper is 0.62Hz. The experimental results after installing damper were also distinguished from simulation results and the main cause of this results is temperature dependency property of rubber material.
