Dielectric and Piezoelectric Characteristics of (Na,K)NbO3 Ceramics System According to Sintering Time (소결시간변화에 따른 (Na,K)NbO3계 세라믹스의 유전 및 압전특성)

  • In this study, $0.95(K_{0.5}Na_{0.5})NbO_{3}-0.05Li(Sb_{0.8}Nb_{0.2})O_{3}+0.2\;wt%Ag_{2}O$ were investigated as a variations of sintering times in order to improve dielectric and piezoelectric properties of lead-free piezoelectric ceramics. $Ag_{2}O$ were used as sintering aids and the specimens were sintered during 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11 hours, respectively. At the specimen sintered during 7 hour, Electromechanical coupling factor ($k_p$), density, dielectric constant (${\epsilon}_{\gamma}$), piezoelectric constant ($d_{33}$) and curie temperature ($T_c$) of composition ceramics showed the optimal value of 0.450, 4.274 $[g/cm^3]$, 1007, 257 [pC/N] and $396^{\circ}C$, respectively.

  • ZnO varistor ceramics which were fabricated with variation of added of 0.5~1.0 mol% Co$_3$O$_4$, were sintered at 1150 $^{\circ}C$. In the specimen added 0.7 mol% Co$_3$O$_4$, sintered density was 6.03 g/㎤ and electrical properties were superior to any other compositions. The nonlinear coefficient a and clamping voltage ratio were 83 and 1.35, respectively. But, endurance surge current in the specimen added 0.5 mol% Co$_3$O$_4$ was 7000 A/$\textrm{cm}^2$, and deviation of varistor voltage was Δ-3.23 %. As P.C.T and T.C.T environmental test were succeed in all specimens, and deviation of varistor voltage in the specimen added 0.6 mol% Co$_3$O$_4$ was Δ-0.81 %. All specimens showed good leakage current property on the High Temperature Continuous Load Test(HTCLT) for 1000 hr at 85 $^{\circ}C$ and variation rate of the varistor voltage below Δ-2.0 %.

  • Electrical properties and microstructure were investigated on the effects of $MnO_2$ and the lead-free $(Na_{0.44}K_{0.52}Li_{0.04})(Nb_{0.83}Sb_{0.07}Ta_{0.1})O_3$ ceramics with the addition of $MnO_2$ were fabricated by a conventional mixed oxide method. A gradual change in the crystal and microstructure was observed with the increase of $MnO_2$ addition. For the NKN-LST-xmol%$MnO_2$ sintered at $1100^{\circ}C$, bulk density increased with the addition of $MnO_2$ and showed maximum value at addition 1.0mol% of $MnO_2$. Curie temperature of the NKN-LST ceramics slightly decreased with adding $MnO_2$. The dielectric constant, piezoelectric constant ($d_{33}$) and electromechanical coupling factor ($k_p$) increased below 0.25mol% of $MnO_2$ addition, which might be due to the increase in density. The high piezoelectric properties = 145 pC/N, electromechanical coupling factor = 0.421 and dielectric constant = 2883 were obtained for the NKN-LST-0.25mol%$MnO_2$ sintered at $1100^{\circ}C$ for 4h.

  • Electrical and structural properties were investigated on the effects of ZnO and the lead-free NKN-LST ceramics with the addition of ZnO were fabricated by a conventional mixed oxide method. A gradual change in the crystal and microstructure was observed with the increase of ZnO addition. For the NKN-LST-ZnO ceramics sintered at $1050^{\circ}C$, bulk density increased with the addition of ZnO and showed maximum value at addition 2.0mol% of ZnO. Curie temperature of the NKN-LST-ZnO ceramics slightly decreased with adding ZnO. The dielectric constant, piezoelectric constant ($d_{33}$) and electromechanical coupling factor ($k_p$) increased at the small amount of ZnO addition, which might be due to the increase in density. The high piezoelectric properties = 153 pC/N, electromechanical coupling factor = 0.484 and dielectric constant = 2883 were obtained for the NKN-LST+0.5ZnO ceramics sintered at $1050^{\circ}C$ for 2h.

  • $La_{7.33}Bi_2(SiO_4)_6O_2$ specimens were fabricated by standard solid-state synthesis route for solid oxide electrolytes. The calcined powders exhibited uniform particles with a mean particle size of about $28{\mu}m$. The room-temperature structure of $La_{7.33}Bi_2(SiO_4)_6O_2$ specimens was analyzed as hexagonal, space group P63 or P63/m, and the unit cell volume increased with increase a sintering temperature. The specimens sintered at $1,175^{\circ}C$ showed X-ray patterns of homogeneous apatite single phase without the second phase such as $La_2Si_2O_7$ and $La_2SiO_5$. The specimen sintered at $1,175^{\circ}C$ showed the maximum sintered density of 5.49 $g/cm^3$. Increasing the sintering temperature, total conductivities increased, activation energy decreased and the values were $1.98{\times}10^{-5}Scm-1$ and 1.23 eV, respectively.

Electrical properties of $CuAlO_2$ ceramics doped with Be (Be을 첨가한 $CuAlO_2$ 세라믹의 전기적 특성)

  • [ $CuAlO_2$ ] was used as P-type transparent conducting oxide. $CuAlO_2$ ceramics was obtained from heating a stoichiometric mixture of $Cu_2O$ and $Al_2OH_3$ at $1200^{\circ}C$ for 6h. $CuAlO_2$ ceramics were doped by the rate of 0, 5, 7 and 10% of the $BeSO_4{\cdot}4H_2O$. Sintered ceramics were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and electrical measurements. The room temperature conductivity of the ceramics, which were doped with $BeSO_4{\cdot}4H_2O$ 5wt% was of the order of $3.19\times10^{-3}S\;cm^{-1}$, and the density was $4.98g/cm^3$. Therefor the conductivity and density in $BeSO+4{\cdot}4H_2O$ 5wt% were better than other cases. Additionally, Seebeck cofficient measurements revealed that these ceramics were p-type semiconductors and the ceramic conductivity increased with the growth temperature.

Studies on the Sintering of the Cordierite Glass-ceramics (코디어라이트계 결정화 유리의 소결에 관한 연구)

  • In producing cordierite glass-ceramics by sintering, following experiments were conducted in order to determine the optimum heat-treatment schedule for high-crystallinity and dense sintered body. The glass composition of 11.67MgO-29.46Al2O3-52.88SiO2-5P2O5-1B2O3 (wt%) was selected on the basis of the early experiment. The 3-step heat treatment schedule was determined by the results of DTA, Dilatometric measurement and high-temperature XRD, where the particle-size-controlled glass powder was used. The degree of densification and the crystallinity were evaluated by the measurement of the bulk density and X-ray scattering intensity. The specimen fired with the optimum conditions showed ${\alpha}$-cordierite phase, relative density ∼98%, crystallinity ∼92%, thermal expansion coefficient ∼30${\times}$10-7/$^{\circ}C$, dielectric constant ∼5.5 and resistivity ∼1.0${\times}$1012 {{{{ OMEGA }}cm, respectively.

Electrical Properties of PCCYA-doped ZnO-based Varistors

  • The microstructure, voltage-current, and capacitance-voltage relations ofP CCYA doped ZnO-based varistors were investigated for different amounts of $Al_2O_3$. As the $Al_2O_3$ amount increased, the average grain size (d) increased from d=4.3 to $d=5.5{\mu}m$ and the sintered density $({\rho})$ increased from ${\rho}=5.63$ to ${\rho}=5.67g/cm^3$. As the $Al_2O_3$ amount increased, the breakdown voltage $(V_B)$ increased from $V_B=633$ to $V_B=71$ V/mm and the non-ohmic coefficient $({\alpha})$ increased from ${\alpha}=47$ to ${\alpha}=4$. $Al_2O_3$ served as a donor due to the donor density $(N_d)$, which increases in the range of $N_d=0.77-1.85{\times}10^{18}/cm^3$ with increasing amount of $Al_2O_3$.

  • The glasses, which the $\beta$-spodumene as the principal crystalline phase could be precipitated, were melted by adding >, $P_2O_5, TiO_2, ZrO_2 in the Li_2O-Al_2O_3-SiO_2$ system. In order to achieve the glass-ceramic body of near-theoritical density by sintering method, the optimum condition of heat treatment, the effect of glass powder size and the properties were investigated by DTA, XRD, bulk density, thermal expansion and SEM. Addition of $P_20_5$ imProved the tendency of sintering and the sample with 9wt% $P_20_5$ content was the most dense OOdy by sintering method. The optimum condition of heat treatmemt was sintered for densitification at $740^{\circ}C$ and crystallized at $950^{\circ}C$. In the optimum condition, the relative density was above 90% and the thermal expansion was negative about $-1{\times}10^{-7}/^{\circ}C$.
