Computational Simulation of Heat flow phenomena in Newly Designed Heat Sinks (뉴 디자인된 히트싱크의 열 유동 현상 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션)

  • For improvement of heat dissipation performance, heat analysis is conducted on the newly designed heat sinks under two convection conditions by using computational fluid dynamics(CFD). Three types of heat sink, plate, wave and top vented wave, are used, and convection conditions are the variations of gravity direction at natural convection and of fan location at forced convection. The results of analysis showed that the heat resistances of top vented wave heat sink were $0.17^{\circ}C$/W(forced convection) and $0.48^{\circ}C$/W(natural convection). In the case of natural convection, gravity direction affected heat flow change, and protection against heat performance was superior in case of z-axis gravity direction. Under the forced convection, all the heat sinks revealed superior thermal characteristics in the fan position of z-axis rather than y-axis. In this study, it was observed that the top vented wave type heat sink showed the best ability of heat radiation comparing with the others.

Prediction of Sink Phenomenon during Forging Process and Improvement of LPI Fuel Filter Housing Forging Product (LPI 차량용 연료필터 상부 하우징 냉간 단조 성형 공정에서 sink 현상 예측 및 개선)

  • The LPI fuel filter housings used in automobiles were made from conventional die castings but have recently been developed by cold forging to improve the weight and durability. On the other hand, a sink may develop at the core of the forged product due to the resulting T-shape, which not only reduces the aesthetics, but also increases the post-processing cost of the product. Therefore, this research focused on methods to predict and mitigate sink development and progression during the T-shape forging process. Finite element analysis of the forging process was first performed to determine the optimal initial workpiece devoid of burrs and underfills. An accurate sink prediction was then obtained via metal flow analysis, which was a result of the finite element simulation. Through finite element analysis, it was confirmed that sink development is a product of the differences in nodal velocities arising from the T-shaped forging process. Consequently, a pad was inserted beneath the sink to minimize these velocity differences. The results yielded significant improvement with regard to the sink defect. This method was practically applied to an industrial site to validate the sink improvement.

  • Plastic injection mould have two kinds of trouble, one is in mould another in injection parts. Most of defects of the former take the cause in a design like in structure and working, the later weld line, transforming, sink mark, burning, flow mark, scratching, shading, black hole and so on. Most of problems of the later is difficult for making a clear definitely the reason of defects because of complexible. The purpose of this paper is to improve the quality of plastic injection mould and parts with inquiring the counter plan and rouble of the part of Flat TV Front Cover by flow control method and gas- assisted injection moulding. For minimizing defects from injection moulding parts, this paper was investigated with using computer aided injection mold filling simulations. Based on these numerical results, I established guidelines mould design and injection processing condition. As a results I got the improve of quality, minimizing surface defects moulded parts and troubles in mould.

  • This paper dealt with an experiments on temperature vairation in the heat storage zone due to change of vertical location (height) of sink diffuser and flow extraction in small saltless solar pond ($0.5{\times}0.5{\times}1.0M$), and the honeycomb device for this experimental purpose consisted of one-tired, sealed, and air filled by honeycomb panels. As results of experiments, 1) The storage zone was formed under lower region below the honeycomb device. 2) The higher vertical location of sink diffuser was placed, the more mixing phenomenon increased in the pond at steady flow extraction. 3) The more flow extraction increased, the more mixing phenomenon decreased at constant heat exchanger and variable flow extraction.

  • The major problems of a plastic injection mould can be devided into two kinds, one is in mould another in injected parts. Most of defects of the former comes from mould design, such as, structure and working. The latter are weld line, warpage, sink mark, burning, flow mark, scratching, shading, black hole and so on. Most of problems in injection molding are difficult to find the reason because of complexity.   • Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is nowadays a powerful and reliable tool for simulating different flow processes and temperature. CFD is used to analyze the various pot geometries and operative variables in 55% Al-Zn pot of CGL. In this research, different strip velocities were assumed and then shown the flow pattern in the pot that was similar in the different strip velocities. Temperature distribution in the pot depended on inductors and inlet strip temperature at the steady condition. Generation of dross particles and transport models were considered to describe dross particles evolution inside the pot. In order to observe dross influence by scrap location, dross particles were generated upon the sink roll. Floating time of dross particles is different by scraper locations above the sink roll.

  • As the demand of the LED for lighting that emits light by p-n junction is increasing, studies on heatproof plate technology is being conducted to minimize the temperature of the LED lighting. As for the temperature of the LED devices, their light emitting efficiency decreases and the maximum lifespan drops down to 1/5. Therefore there are heat dissipation studies going on to minimize the heat. For LED heat dissipation, aluminum heat sink plates are mostly used. For this paper, we designed heat sink that fits residential 20W COB LED Down Light; packaged the heat sink and 20W COB and analyzed and evaluated the thermal properties through a Solidworks flow simulation. We are planning to design the optimal heat sink plate to solve the thermal agglomeration considering TIM(Thermal Interface material).

  • In the automotive industry these days, plastic parts have been developed and replaced with plastic parts by maintaining the same function of existing press parts for a variety of reasons. Injection molding plastic parts are subject to molding defects due to various factors, among which the sink marks usually occur in the areas where bosses and ribs are installed. In this study, we analyzed the influence of various factors on the occurrence of sink marks by using the flow analysis of the forming analysis program(Moldflow analysis) using the rib model with the T-shape. Tests have shown that the greatest influence on the sink mark of cosmetic products is the thickness and pressure of the ribs, and the thickness of the basic moulding thickness of the product increases. However, it was considered that the resin temperature and the mold temperature do not greatly affect the occurrence of the sink mark.

Machine Learning Based Automated Source, Sink Categorization for Hybrid Approach of Privacy Leak Detection (머신러닝 기반의 자동화된 소스 싱크 분류 및 하이브리드 분석을 통한 개인정보 유출 탐지 방법)

  • The Android framework allows apps to take full advantage of personal information through granting single permission, and does not determine whether the data being leaked is actual personal information. To solve these problems, we propose a tool with static/dynamic analysis. The tool analyzes the Source and Sink used by the target app, to provide users with information on what personal information it used. To achieve this, we extracted the Source and Sink through Control Flow Graph and make sure that it leaks the user's privacy when there is a Source-to-Sink flow. We also used the sensitive permission information provided by Google to obtain information from the sensitive API corresponding to Source and Sink. Finally, our dynamic analysis tool runs the app and hooks information from each sensitive API. In the hooked data, we got information about whether user's personal information is leaked through this app, and delivered to user. In this process, an automated Source/Sink classification model was applied to collect latest Source/Sink information, and the we categorized latest release version of Android(9.0) with 88.5% accuracy. We evaluated our tool on 2,802 APKs, and found 850 APKs that leak personal information.

  • Theoretical and numerical studies are given to the sink flows within a rotating circular tank driven by the fluid withdrawal from a bottom circular hole. It was found that, when the upper free surface was set with no-slip boundary conditions, the Ekman boundary-layer develops not only above the bottom surface but under the top surface. The sink fluid is coming from the two Ekman layers, and the mass transfer from the bulk, inviscid region is dependent on the rotational speed. It is also remarkable to see that all the fluid gathered along the axis flows in a form of rapidly rotating fluid column haying almost the same diameter as the bottom hole.
