Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the surrounding and underlying shades' effect on the color adjustment potential (CAP) of a single-shade composite used in a thin layer. Materials and Methods: Cylinder specimens (1.0 mm thick) were built with the Vittra APS Unique composite, surrounded (dual specimens) or not (simple specimens) by a control composite (shade A1, A2, or A3). Simple specimens were also built only with the control composites. Each specimen's color was measured against white and black backgrounds or the simple control specimens with a spectrophotometer (CIELAB system). The whiteness index for dentistry (WID) and translucency parameters (TP00) were calculated for simple specimens. Differences (ΔE00) in color between the simple/dual specimens and the controls were calculated. The CAP was calculated based on the ratios between data from simple and dual specimens. Results: The Vittra APS Unique composite showed higher WID and TP00 values than the controls. The highest values of ΔE00 were observed among simple specimens. The color measurements of Vittra APS Unique (simple or dual) against the control specimens presented the lowest color differences. Only surrounding the single-shade composite with a shaded composite barely impacted the ΔE00. The highest CAP values were obtained using a shaded composite under simple or dual specimens. Conclusions: The CAP of Vittra APS Unique was strongly affected by the underlying shade, while surrounding this composite with a shaded one barely affected its color adjustment.

This study aims to propose biotope field datasheet and biotope type classification based on habitat-based by analyzing the German biotope system. The German system began in 1976 and has established a habitat-based national biotope classification system. On the other hand, Korea institutionalized in 2018 to build a classification system based on land use and land cover, which is a classification system that does not fully reflect ecosystem in Korea. Germany operates 44 biotope classification systems and 40 biotope field datasheet. Korea uses a single biotope field datasheet regardless of the biotope type. This classification system may not reflect the characteristics of Korea's biotope ecological habitat. The biotope classification system of Korea was proposed by dividing it into five categories: mountain ecology, freshwater ecology, land ecology, coastal ecology, and development area to reflect ecosystem habitat. The biotope type was designed as a system of large-classification-middle-small classification and subdivided into medium-classification and subdivided in each biotope system. The major classifications were classified into 44 categories according to the mountainous biotope(11), freshwater biotope(8), terrestrial biotope (12), coastal biotope(6), and development biotope(7). Unlike Germany, Korea's biotope field datasheet was proposed in five ways according to the classification of major ecosystem types. The results of this study are expected to contribute to the policy suggestion and the utilization of ecosystem conservation because the biotope classification system is classified to reflect the characteristics of ecosystem habitats.

In general, images of outdoor scenes often contain degradation due to dust, water drop, haze, fog, smoke and so on, as a result they cause the contrast reduction and color fading. Haze removal is not easier problem due to the inherent ambiguity between the haze and the underlying scene. So, we propose a novel method to solve single scene dehazing problem using the region segmentation based on graph algorithm that has used a gradient value as a cost function. We segment the scene into different regions according to depth-related information and then estimate the global atmospheric light. The medium transmission can be directly estimated by the threshold function of graph-based segmentation algorithm. After estimating the medium transmission, we can restore the haze-free scene. We evaluated the degree of the visibility restoration between the proposed method and the existing methods by calculating the gradient of the edge between the restored scene and the original scene. Results on a variety of outdoor haze scene demonstrated the powerful haze removal and enhanced image quality of the proposed method.
PURPOSE. Zirconia has been used in clinical dentistry for approximately a decade, and there have been several reports regarding the clinical performance and survival rates of zirconia-based restorations. The aim of this article was to review the literatures published from 2000 to 2010 regarding the clinical performance and the causes of failure of zirconia fixed partial dentures (FPDs). MATERIALS AND METHODS. An electronic search of English peer-reviewed dental literatures was performed through PubMed to obtain all the clinical studies focused on the performance of the zirconia FPDs. The electronic search was supplemented by manual searching through the references of the selected articles for possible inclusion of some articles. Randomized controlled clinical trials, longitudinal prospective and retrospective cohort studies were the focuses of this review. Articles that did not focus on the restoration of teeth using zirconia-based restorations were excluded from this review. RESULTS. There have been three studies for the study of zirconia single crowns. The clinical outcome was satisfactory (acceptable) according to the CDA evaluation. There have been 14 studies for the study of zirconia FPDs. The survival rates of zirconia anterior and posterior FPDs ranged between 73.9% - 100% after 2 - 5 years. The causes of failure were veneer fracture, ceramic core fracture, abutment tooth fracture, secondary caries, and restoration dislodgment. CONCLUSION. The overall performance of zirconia FPDs was satisfactory according to either USPHS criteria or CDA evaluations. Fracture resistance of core and veneering ceramics, bonding between core and veneering materials, and marginal discrepancy of zirconia-based restorations were discussed as the causes of failure. Because of its repeated occurrence in many studies, future researches are essentially required to clarify this problem and to reduce the fracture incident.
Purpose: To quantify the effect of the crystallization process on lithium disilicate ceramic crowns that are fabricated using a computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing(CAD/CAM) system, and to determine whether they are clinically acceptable by comparing values before and after the crystallization process. Methods: The maxillary first molar was selected as the abutment for the experiments. Ten working models were prepared. Marginal and internal gap of 4 groups of lithium disilicate crowns(n=10) fabricated with conventional method. Comparison was performed using the silicone replica technique and 3D superimposition analysis. The marginal and internal gaps of the restoration were measured before and after the crystallization process of this prosthesis. The average value of each part(the average of values measured before and after the crystallization) was statistically analyzed using paired t-test(α=0.05). Results: The results from the second phase of this research, which compared the average value of the gap between the marginal and internal fits of the lithium disilicate single crown before and after the crystallization process, indicated that the marginal gap was larger and the internal gap was smaller after the crystallization process, and this difference was statistically significant (P<0.05) in all the parts evaluated. Conclusion: While the shrinkage that occurs during crystallization does affect the marginal and internal fit of the prosthesis, it cannot be concluded to be a major effect because the resultant distortion was within the clinically acceptable range.

This study was carried out to verify results of the nursery seedbeds. From November of 1997 to September of 1998, the artificial banking slopes in the greenhouse of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Seoul National University were seeded with the mixtures of those species. Most of exotic species showed relatively poor development of root as short as 30cm. Also the green weight of root biomass of the native species was more than two times than that of the exotic species. On the other hand, it was found that the exotic species have relatively well-developed fine roots. Thus, it was concluded that the seed-mixture of the native species with long and thick roots and the exotic species with fine roots be the most effective method for topsoil erosion control on banking-slopes. The artificial rainfall system treatment(30mm/hr, 60mm/hr, 100mm/hr) on $30^{\circ}$ banking-slopes did not cause any significant change in the amount of soil loss by erosion. The root system was best developed in the plot of 1,000 seedlings per square meter and it performed well for soil erosion control. Consequently, in the case of seeding of single herbaceous species without mixing any woody seeds, the expected seedlings were 1,000 to 2,000 per square meter.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the applicability of small RC(radio controlled) helicopter and single lens reflect camera as SFAP(Small Format Aerial Photography) aquisition system to monitor the vegetation coverage of wetland. The system used to take pictures of small artificial wetland were a common optical camera(Nikon F80 with manual lens whose focal length was 28mm) attached to the bottom of a RC helicopter with a 50 cubic inch size glow engine. Three hundreds pictures were taken at the altitude of 50m above the ground, from 23rd June to 7th September 2005. Four from the images were selected and scanned to digital images whose dimension were 2048${\times}$1357 pixels. Those images were processed and rectified with GCP(Ground Control Poins) and digital map, and then classified by the supervised- classification module of image processing program PG-steamer Version 2.2. The major findings were as follows ; 1. The final images processed had very high spatial resolution so that the objects bigger than 30mm like lotus(Nelumbo nucifera), rock and deck were easily identified. 2. The dominant plants of the monitoring site were Monochoria ragianlis, Typha latifolia, Beckmannia syzigachne etc. Because those species have narrow and long leaves and form irregular biomass, the individuals were hardly identifiable, but the distribution of population were easily identifiable depending on the color difference. 3. The area covered by vegetation was rapidly increased during the first month of monitoring. At the beginning of the monitoring 23th June 2005, The rate of area covered by vegetation were only 34%, but after 27 and 60 days it increased to 74%, and the 86% respectively.

The projection of climate-related range shift is critical information for conservation planning of Korean fir (Abies koreana E. H. Wilson). We first modeled the distribution of Korean fir under current climate condition using five single-model species distribution models (SDMs) and the pre-evaluation weighted ensemble method and then predicted the distributions under future climate conditions projected with HadGEM2-AO under four $CO_2$ emission scenarios, the Representative Concentration Pathways (RCP) 2.6, 4.5, 6.0 and 8.5. We also investigated the predictive uncertainty stemming from five individual algorithms and four $CO_2$ emission scenarios for better interpretation of SDM projections. Five individual algorithms were Generalized linear model (GLM), Generalized additive model (GAM), Multivariate adaptive regression splines (MARS), Generalized boosted model (GBM) and Random forest (RF). The results showed high variations of model performances among individual SDMs and the wide range of diverging predictions of future distributions of Korean fir in response to RCPs. The ensemble model presented the highest predictive accuracy (TSS = 0.97, AUC = 0.99) and predicted that the climate habitat suitability of Korean fir would increase under climate changes. Accordingly, the fir distribution could expand under future climate conditions. Increasing precipitation may account for increases in the distribution of Korean fir. Increasing precipitation compensates the negative effects of increasing temperature. However, the future distribution of Korean fir is also affected by other ecological processes, such as interactions with co-existing species, adaptation and dispersal limitation, and other environmental factors, such as extreme weather events and land-use changes. Therefore, we need further ecological research and to develop mechanistic and process-based distribution models for improving the predictive accuracy.
Example-based super resolution is a method to restore a high resolution image from low resolution images through training and retrieval of image patches. It is not only good in its performance but also available for a single frame low-resolution image. However, its time complexity is very high because it requires lots of comparisons to retrieve image patches in restoration process. In order to improve the restoration speed, an efficient patch retrieval algorithm is essential. In this paper, we applied various high-dimensional feature retrieval methods, available for the patch retrieval, to a practical example-based super resolution system and compared their speed. As well, we propose to apply the multi-phase candidate reduction approach to the patch retrieval process, which was successfully applied in character recognition fields but not used for the super resolution. In the experiments, LSH was the fastest among conventional methods. The multi-phase candidate reduction method, proposed in this paper, was even faster than LSH: For $1024{\times}1024$ images, it was 3.12 times faster than LSH.

Recently, a compression algorithm is widely used as a method for compressing geographic information data. However, such a compression algorithm has a problem that the continuity of the map data is insufficient to actually apply it to the geographic information data compression, and the compression rate is lowered because it can not be compressed into a single data. Therefore, in this paper, we have designed and implemented a Run-Length / Byte-Packing compression algorithm that enables compression of geographic information by combining the advantages of compression algorithms and improves compression and restoration speed. As a result of evaluating the implemented algorithm, it was confirmed that the proposed algorithm improved about 5% on average compared with the existing compression algorithm, and it was confirmed that the compression rate and the restoration speed were improved.
